*****Xena's POV*****

I called Valkyrie, but there wasn't a reply and when I tried again, my phone went dead.

I cursed loudly for the first time, biting my lip in anger.

"Just take a taxi." Layla advised and I scoffed, "You know I can't do that. Where am I supposed to find a taxi here? I can only trek to the junction." I breathed out and she shrugged.

"Then do it."

"What?" I asked in surprise, and she just chuckled. You don't expect Ryder to come back and pick you up again, right? The rain would drench you completely, " she said mockingly, and I gritted my teeth. Layla was the worst.

Without a word, I grabbed my phone and bag before heading out of the school and onto the road. The walk from the college to the Junction would take roughly 40 minutes and I just hoped the rain wouldn't fall at that time.

I walked silently across the street, the weather still darkening as time passed.

I so wanted to curse the weather for changing this way, knowing it was the month of Christmas. Christmas was just around the corner and the rain deemed it fit to fall now.

I would call a mechanic once I got home, then he would be in school tomorrow to pick up my car.

Suddenly, the rain began to fall in little droplets, signaling that it would pour down heavily in no time.

I bit my lips and hurried my steps towards the area where taxis were mostly available. But even with my hurried steps, I couldn't reach it on time knowing I had short legs.

Soon, the rain began to fall and I tried to outrun it. It looked so comedic and embarrassing running in the streets, under the heavy rain.

And I also remembered that I was sick, I hadn't recovered fully. If I eventually caught a cold again, I would be done for.

After running for what felt like an eternity, I couldn't run anymore as my breath hitched. I saw a taxi coming in my direction and I thanked the goddess for having mercy on me again.

I flagged down the damn taxi and got in immediately.

After telling the driver my street number, he drove off.

I was breathing heavily, feeling very uncomfortable and cold. Thankfully, the driver was considerate enough to turn the Aircon off so I wouldn't freeze to death.

After a while, we arrived at my house and I paid before running off again and straight for my porch.

Once I had unlocked my door and got into the house, I collapsed onto the ground, my breath coming out even more heavily. Air left my lungs but gradually began to return.

"Oh no, your fever returned, You have to get out of these wet clothes." Layla urged and I hummed.

Of course, I needed to get out of the wet clothes, but I was tired and cold.

"If you remain in that cloth, the cold would end up killing you." She reminded but I paid no more attention.

Shivering nonstop, I managed to get on my feet and staggered upstairs. Once I was safely in my room, I turned on the heater, to warm the room up and stripped immediately.

Once I got rid of the wet clothes, now left in my underwear, I collapsed onto the bed.

"You still need to get rid of the wet underwear." Layla reminded me and I groaned.

"Don't groan at me, I'm just being considerate." She added with a snort and I hummed in approval.

"Now get up and get rid of it, then change up into something else and go take the pills given to you. Or no, just get yourself warm, the weather is cold already"

I was far from listening to her, but she gave me strength and I got up to clumsily change into something else.

I got dressed in sweatpants and a T-shirt, not bothering to take a bath.

Once I had covered enough, I staggered towards the bed and gently lay back down, covering myself up with the blanket again. Despite the warm heater in the room, I still felt cold all over.

I was shivering this time and Layla began to panic.

"Oh no! You have the wolf fever again! What do we do now?" She asked in fear, but I kept silent and just let my teeth chatter the way it was already chattering.

The old was sipping into my bones with each passing moment. I felt my entire body shiver as I stayed still.

Layla was continuously panicking, telling me to pick up my phone to call anyone.

"Just call Valkyrie!" She yelled, but I kept silent, not even able to move my body from the position I was lying in.

"Xena! Stop being so stubborn at this time, you need someone by your side. Someone to take care of you." She pleaded, but I said nothing as usual.

Just then, the doorbell rang, but I had no strength to even go down to answer it.

"Someone's here, maybe they can help you. Just try to go downstairs." Layla said, but I paid no attention again. Whoever was at the door would leave if they got no response.

After ringing nonstop with no response from me, the person at the door seemed to have gotten tired and left cause I heard the ringing stop.

How could someone even come in the rain to my house at this time?

Could it be Ryder?

Oh no, it couldn't. He left earlier with that girl and the weather being this way would make it difficult for him to even come out, that girl would probably be giving him the ride of his life this minute and here I was thinking he would come to my house to check on me.

The last time, I asked him to leave and even slapped him. Who in their right mind would want to associate with such a violent person again?

"He is our mate, and I see the genuine love in his eyes." Layla defended and I smiled thinly. She still thinks of the impossible.

Just as I continued to think back and forth, the window made squeaky sounds and I thought it was the wind. It took me a while to realize that someone was at my window, or more like climbing into my room.

I froze on the bed at once.

"Layla.." I called out with difficulty, "Someone's here... Could it be the stalker?" I asked in fear. If it really was a stalker, then I was done for. I was already in a vulnerable state and if he came into my room, he could take advantage of me.

"Calm down, I'm here," Layla assured me and I hummed, suddenly feeling the adrenaline pumping in.

I managed to climb off the bed, lifting a vase and staggering towards the window where the sound continued.

Just as I lifted the vase, aiming to break the head of whoever it was that was breaking into my house, I breathed in to hold myself together.

I would never go down without a fight.

And just like that, the window was pulled open, but before I could land a hit, the vase was snatched from my hand. I stumbled forward, directly landing in the intruder's arms.

I looked up with half-opened eyes and saw the face I wasn't expecting to see.

"Ry_Ryder?"

*****Xena’s POV***** The school bell rang and the final lessons ended. I stepped out of class, feeling exhausted after the day's lesson. Just when I took a turn to the other hallway, the boy from earlier, the one who's brother was having a party, called out to me and I turned to look at him. “Hello, Miss Xena.” He smiled cheekily and I smiled back softly. “What's your name?” I asked, not knowing what to call him. “Oh, I'm Caiden, Miss.” He replied with a sheepish smile. The boy looked adorable and he looked the same age as Ryder. “I came to remind you of the birthday party tomorrow, ma'am. It's the weekend, and it's tomorrow, " he said, and I bit my lower lip. Would I be able to attend? I did promise him, though. Before I could give a response, someone spoke from behind. “Caiden, you couldn't even give your Alpha a special invite?” We both turned to the source of the voice and saw Ryder standing there with the girl from before. She had a lollipop in her mouth as she a

*****Xena's POV***** The cold from earlier disappeared without a trace and warmth enveloped the space. I felt much better, compared to the time I returned home. A sweet scent mixed with the pure warmth in the room made me frown and moan at the same time. I frowned because it never smelled like that in my room, then I moaned because the smell was intoxicating. My eyes fluttered and I opened them to the always bright light in my room, dimmed. I frowned at that. I was always very scared of the dark, that was why I always left my lights turned on. But seeing it dim now made me almost run out of my room. I tried to get off the bed to turn on the lights, and that was when I realized something. Someone was holding me and keeping me wrapped in their arms. I blinked as panic began to set in, who the hell had me in their arms? I slowly reached out a hand to turn on the bedside lamp, then turned around when I heard a growl from the figure that held me. My heart was banging as I turned

*****Ryder's POV***** When I arrived at Xena's place, the rain had already begun to fall in torrents. I felt uneasiness in my chest that proved that Xena wasn't fine. I just hoped she wasn't in such bad shape. I packed my car in her driveway and realized that her car was nowhere in sight. It seemed like my thoughts were right about her car being faulty. I made a countdown before highlighting from the car. I ran off to her porch, shielding myself from the heavy downpour. I sighed as I thankfully stood before her front door. I turned to ring the doorbell, taking in deep breaths and waiting for her to come lash out at me as usual. But after several rings, there was still no sign of Xena opening the door. I tried to unlock the door, but it was locked from the inside. I frowned in confusion, was she not at home yet? "She might not be at home," Jeremy said, but I shook my head. "She has to be at home," I said to him, "Check her balcony," Jeremy said and I blinked. Why didn

*****Ryder's POV***** After Renee and I left college in my car, I saw the clouds change, and I sighed, but I never even wanted to go back there. The only thing I would always get in return was hateful words and insults from Xena. I saw the look in her eyes when she saw how Renee held me. I couldn't even tell if it was a look of jealousy or disgust. Xena was really the hardest woman I had ever encountered. Renee in the driver's seat suddenly turned to me with a smile, "Baby, let's go to your house." I glanced at her, irritation flashing in my eyes as I heard those words from her. "Don't call me that," I warned and focused my gaze on the windy road. "I called you baby," she repeated and I scoffed, "Renee, we broke up," I remembered and she just rolled her eyes. "So what? I see you still have feelings for me." She said shamelessly and I almost hit the brakes in anger. "Such a bimbo." I heard Jeremy scoff in my head and I hummed in approval. "Renee, I have better thing

  • Luna’s Young Alpha   Chapter 11

*****Xena's POV***** I was asked to stay at the hospital for a few more days for some checkups on my health and wait till I fully recover. Soon, I was discharged and I returned home. All through my stay at the hospital, Valkyrie never once visited me again. I guess she was mad at me for my words and my actions. I was also asked to stay home for a day to get myself together before I attended school again, but I didn't listen. I had stayed away from school for four days and I needed to catch up with the attendance for the days missed. I got ready the next morning and left for school in my car. Arriving at the college, I was met with a few students talking about a news I didn't quite get. They just kept whispering and giggling here and there, getting my curiosity piqued. I stepped into the classroom and as usual, the entire students offered their greetings. I looked around stylishly and saw that Ryder was in class this time. I was quite surprised that he was early today. Just b

  • Luna’s Young Alpha   Chapter 10

*****Xena's POV*****My eyes fluttered before I opened them to the bright lights of what seemed to be the hospital room. The beeping sound of the monitors was enough to make me realize that I was currently in the hospital. I groaned at the blinding lights and shielded my eyes with my hand.Thankfully, I felt someone move to lower the lights of the room. Finally, I could see the room clearly without the pain caused by the lights."Thank Goodness you're awake." I heard a deep voice beside me, that was when I realized that the intoxicating scent that woke me up just now belonged to no other person than Ryder.I froze in my tracks, refusing to look at him. He sighed in what seemed to be exhaustion before he came forward to help me sit up.I reluctantly turned my head to look at him instantly. He looked a mess, his hair was disheveled, he had dark eye bags and his lips were dry.Wait, what?! Lips?"What are you doing here?" I subconsciously asked even before I could hold myself back. Ryder

*****Xena's POV*****Ryder smiled at me, then nodded. I felt my chest squeeze in pain at the sudden look in his eyes."I get it now," he said and moved away from me.My lips trembled as I watched him move away from me slowly. The rain hadn't subsided and it was still falling in torrents."Ryder_""Goodbye, Xena." He said, cutting me shut as he walked out through the door and under the rain.I felt my entire body tremble and the next second, I fell to the floor. I was shivering, also looking at my hands that had struck his face. The memories of how the past years had been ever since I became his teacher came flooding into my mind.He used to smile at me each time he saw me, he would also always shy away each time I patted his shoulder or touched his hand.Ryder was always doing everything to make me happy. I voiced out and was immediately pushed into the house while Ryder stepped in and closed the door behind him.I staggered but stabilized myself when he wrapped his arms around me in support. I glared at him in anger as I pushed him away from me."What are you doing here?!" I asked as I took three steps back. How could he come here when I was very happy that he wouldn't show up at my doorstep because of his coronation? I was happy being alone and being able to think straight.Besides, it was raining! Who in their right mind would even think of coming to visit a person in the rain?Ryder just watched me with eyes filled with longing. I should be feeling disgusted or maybe feeling irked by that look in his eyes, but that wasn't what I felt right now.I suddenly felt the need to reach out to him and touch him, his perfectly sculptured face, sharp jaw, long hair, and every other perfection on him.The moon goddess definitely cheated in the aspect of creation.I
