(Tyler’s POV)

Standing in front of Warriors I wanted to introduce the Pack’s Luna, a warrior in her own right. But what they only see is a small human that was foolishly marked by their Alpha. Now she stands here to show each one of them that she is able to take care of herself and with her own strength she is going to prove that she is not going to cause their Alpha to become weak.

“Welcome to training. Today we are going to do something different. But before I explain what we are going to do I would like to introduce to you Katryn Stevens. Show your respect to your Luna!” he ordered and each warrior saluted but no one said a word. “I know what you are thinking, that mating a human has made me weak, I say you are wrong. She is strong which makes me stronger. Some of you saw her sparring yesterday, she can handle herself. Today she will show you again, but this time I will let all of you decide who she is going to spar with." The warriors looked around at each other, not sure what to do.

“I only have one rule, the sparring is to be done only in human form. We will allow wolf form another time.” I wanted to let them know that she was not afraid to fight a wolf. “I will give you five minutes to choose the one to spar with her.” I took Kate by the arm and we walked away to give them some privacy to make their decision.

The warriors gathered in a huddle to talk it over who was going to spar with the Luna. Some of them wanted a female warrior to step up for sparring, the ones that had seen her fight the day before said that she was a good fighter, but they didn’t want to hurt her. Others wanted their strongest warrior to fight her to put her in place, there was no way a human could win against a wolf.

One Warrior, who was quiet during the discussion, spoke up, “Alpha, how do we know you won’t step in if the fighting is not going her way?”

“I give you my word I will only step in if and only if the challenger changes to their wolf,” I declared.

“Fair enough, I’ll fight her,” he walked over to the sparring circle,

“Who is he?” Kate asked me in a whisper.

“His name is Jake, he is the assistant trainer of the warriors,” I replied. “He is a good choice and a difficult opponent. I hope you weren’t kidding that you were holding back.” I was serious about my comment.

“I wasn’t kidding, I was holding back.”

“Good. Do not hold back with Jake. if you give him an opportunity he will take it and you will be on your back tapping out.” I gave her some advice on how to fight Jake. She took all the information and walked over to the circle.

Camerin and Micah stood on either side of me. I said I wouldn’t interfere, but that is easier said than done. We are newly mated. My instincts would be to protect her even if she didn’t need it. My two friends will make sure I stay put.

Jake and Kate faced each other then started to move around the circle. “I am not going to go easy on you. My Luna can hold her own. You need to prove to me that I will be willing to put my life on the line for a human, especially a tiny one.”

“I am not going to go easy on you either. Hopefully your pride can handle a tiny human making you tap out,” Kate smirked.

Jake laughed out loud, “Good sense of humor, I like that. Now let’s see how you fight,” Jake lunged at her. She moved out of his way. He took a swing at her and she blocked it. He backed up, he threw a combination punch with a kick of his leg and she blocked it all, then returned a three combination punch and with a double kick that knocked him to the ground.

He stood up and dusted himself off. “I see you know some martial arts, it isn’t going to be enough to help you, for I know martial arts as well.”

“Well we will have to see who knows more,” she smirked again.

She bowed to him and then prepared for the real fight. Jake returned the bow and took his own stance. They stared each other down for a moment and then the fists started to fly.

There were cheers for each fighter to win. I was being held by Camerin. I tried to protect her the two times she was knocked to the ground. Micah had to step in and help hold me back when a punch to the mouth caused Kate to spit out blood.

The punch was the first one that he connected to her face, the only part of her body that was not covered. There was skin on skin contact and I could tell that she had a vision. She stepped back and shook her head to clear her mind. But then the smile on her face let me know she figured out how to beat Jake.

Jake was getting tired, he didn’t expect the fight to last as long as it did. He felt it was time to finish it. He threw two more punches to the head but she blocked them. It was her turn to return the punches, a three combination to the gut then a roundhouse kick to the head and Jake was laid out flat on the ground. Kate jumped on him and held him to the ground by twisting his arm.

“Tap out or I'll break it!” Kate yelled and tightened her grip. Jake growled loudly. For a moment I thought he was going to change to his wolf, but then he tapped out. Kate stood up and held out her hand to help him up. He took it.

“Luna, you are a very good fighter, I hope you will grant me the opportunity to try again,” Jake asked.

“Of course,” she answered with a smile. She looked over at me and I couldn’t be more proud of her.

Before I could celebrate with my mate, there was a commotion at the back of the crowd. The warriors opened a path as someone started to push their way through. I couldn’t believe it was Glenda.

“I challenge Luna!” Glenda declared.

53 (Kathryn’s POV) I heard him before I saw him heavy boots on the old wooden floors, the faint creak of the front door shutting behind him. Cali lifted her head from my lap, ears perked like she could sense his energy better than I could. I wished I could curl up and disappear into her fur. The packhouse was quiet. Too quiet. Everyone had gone to handle something, fight something, protect something. And me? I sat here like a porcelain doll tucked safely away in a glass cabinet while the world burned. I didn’t know how to look at him. Not after tonight. Not after seeing what his world really was. He stepped into the dayroom. He looked… tired. Older somehow. Blood scrubbed mostly clean, but not all of it. I wondered if it was his. If it was someone else’s. If he even cared anymore. “Hey,” he said softly, like he didn’t want to scare me. I didn’t answer. I just watched him. His shoulders dropped a fraction that little tell he hated giving away, like he’d been bracing for a punch

52 (Kathryn’s POV) This night was more than I could handle. I have entered into Tyler’s world without knowing what it really was like. This world is full of monsters and I am in love with the most powerful one. I sit in this truck and am afraid to talk to him. He isn’t done, a war had just begun and he had prisoners, who knows what he was going to do with them. I glanced at him. Staring at his fresh scars and the dried blood on him. Why is he here with me and not with his men? Shouldn’t he be there? Was I really that important to him? Would he give up his world for me? Could I even ask him to? My mind was filled with so many questions. But I wondered why I couldn’t ask him. The truck started to slow down as we reached my home. The fire department was still there, spotlights all over the place. Smoke still poured out of the kitchen window, I expected the house to be burnt to the ground with nothing left but a pile of ash. A tall muscular man walked over to us, “Evening Alpha, Lu

51 (Tyler’s POV) I shifted back at the edge of the clearing behind the packhouse, forcing my breathing to steady. My fur was matted with blood, not all mine, but it didn’t matter. I had to look human again, look like her mate, not the monster who’d just torn Jaxson’s wolves apart with his teeth. I pulled on the spare pair of sweats we kept in the emergency stash outside the back porch. They stuck to the cuts along my ribs, but I ignored it. The packhouse lights glowed warm and steady, a lie against the chaos beyond these walls. When I stepped inside, I found Kate in the dayroom where I’d left her. She was pacing, arms wrapped tight around herself, Micah hovering nearby trying to calm her down. The moment Kate saw me, she stopped cold. Her eyes flicked over me, the blood, the bruises and her breath stopped. “Out,” I said to Micah. He hesitated, but one look at my face and he slipped past me without a word, pulling the double doors closed behind him. Kate didn’t move. Neither did

50 (Tyler’s POV) The run was going smoothly, no trouble, no mind-links buzzing in my head, just me, my thoughts, and the wind in my fur. Well, and the pup is still glued to my heels. I glanced back. He hadn’t given up once, sticking to my flank like a shadow. He was faster than I’d expected from someone who’d only shifted for the first time a few months ago. I’d have to keep an eye on him. We made the turn at the waterfall, the mist cool on my fur as I mind-linked Camerin. The second group is up, get them ready, I told him. You’re going to love the lake tonight. The moon’s almost high enough to fill its reflection. It’s beautiful. He gave me the report on the patrols. It made my heart sink a little. so few warriors to cover so much ground but everything was still quiet. Too quiet. The second run started, and the fifteen-minute window began. Only ten warriors were left to guard the packhouse. Jaxson’s death threat was never for me, I’d survived too many to count, but Kate was diff

49 (Camerin’s POV) I followed Tyler outside to greet the pack members waiting for the first run. I was impressed by how effortlessly the Alpha handled the crowd laughing, talking, greeting everyone like nothing was wrong. You’d never know he was worried about an attack or a kidnapping. He made sure everyone was focused on the run and ready to have a good time. When the time came, he gave the order to shift. Roughly 250 wolves cheered and began stripping off their clothes so they wouldn’t ruin them during the change. Then, all at once, the air was filled with the sound of bones shifting and fur sprouting. The security team stayed close, ready for any trouble. A crowd this big was bound to have a few scuffles as everyone fought for the best spot. Alpha Tyler didn’t give them time to settle. He threw back his head and let out a powerful howl before charging toward the mountains. The wolves surged after him eager, competitive but no one dared pass the Alpha. He set the pace. “I’ll k

48 (Tyler’s POV) I threw my drink against the wall and it barely missed Camerin’s head. Why would wolves be attacking Scott? Was Jaxson trying to capture him, use him as leverage to force a claim on the land between our packs? I grabbed my phone, ready to call Jaxson and demand he back off Kate’s friend but I froze before I could dial. I couldn’t risk tipping him off about Kate’s visions. If they got hold of Scott, they could torture that information out of him. I mind-linked the warriors tailing Scott, demanding an update. They responded immediately: they’d found his truck heading west on the highway toward Coulterville. So far, no sign anyone was following him; the warriors were keeping their distance so they wouldn’t spook him. I turned back to Camerin, frustration eating at me. “Where’s Kate? They should be here by now.” I started pacing. “Calm down, the run starts in fifteen minutes,” Camerin said evenly. “I’ll calm down when she’s here under our protection!” I snapped. Jus
