The explosion threw Nickey backward. Glass shattered. Smoke filled the air. His ears rang.

He rolled onto his stomach. Coughed. Tasted blood.

"Sarah!" He couldn't see her through the smoke.

Bodies everywhere. Some moving. Some still. FBI agents scrambling. Screaming.

A hand grabbed his shoulder. Sarah. Face covered in ash. Blood running from her temple.

"Move. Now."

They crawled toward the exit. The ceiling groaned. Chunks of concrete crashed down.

Outside, sirens wailed. Fire trucks. Ambulances. More chaos.

Sarah pulled him behind a parked car. "Marcus. He had a backup plan."

"He's in custody."

"His people aren't." She pointed. Across the street. A man holding a phone. Watching. He saw them looking. Ran.

Nickey stood. "That's him. The trigger man."

"Let him go. We have bigger problems." Sarah checked her phone. Cracked screen but working. "Trina's hospital. It's been evacuated. Bomb threat."

"Where is she?"

"I don't know. Communications are down."
