Chapter 2

Lana’s POV :

The cold wind was making it hard as my pace was slowing down automatically. When I finally realize I can’t move another step I stopped and looked around. I was so sure that I was out of our pack’s territory half an hour ago. Our pack?? Not anymore… I know if anybody is going to come after me that is not out of love, but hate, to make me a slave to the King. That will never happen…

Even though, I feel I am quite a distance away from them, I still couldn’t calm myself. I am a rogue now and no rogue is safe out alone. Thank God, my wolf wasn’t out, otherwise they could find the rogue scent in me. For others, I am just a normal human. I moved slowly but soon enough I heard footsteps around me and goosebumps started came out of fear. I know whatever is approaching me is danger for me. So without wasting another second, I started running. But I could feel those noises getting closer and soon I realised I was trapped by them, a group of wolves surrounded me. Their eyes were red and saliva was oozing out of their mouth  by watching their prey in a trapped manner. I know I can’t outrun them and a human is way more easier for them. I saw the biggest one pouncing towards me to devour, and I closed my eyes tightly as I don’t know what else to do that moment. Finally, I am going to get out of this hell world.

But soon, I felt a cold breeze and when I opened my eyes, I saw everyone around me in a frozen state including the wolf which was charging against me. When I looked up, I saw a girl of my age in a beautiful blue gown. She looked like an angel and eventually, I blacked out.

I woke-up with a pounding headache and I put pressure on my forehead using both my hands. And then I looked around to find, I was in a small yet clean beautiful room and there she on the sofa , sitting opposite to me.

“So, you are awake ??” I heard her melodious voice behind a warm smile.

I looked around in panic, in order to know where am I .

“Hey, calm down. You’re safe now. I am Maraya, A witch. This is my home. Don’t worry it is next to our coven. So you don’t need to worry about any threats here.”

She sounded truthful and instantly I got relaxed. Even though mostly I heard bad stories about witches, she sounded different.

“Thank you, Maraya. I am Lana. Thanks for saving my life. I…”

I didn’t know what to say next. Who would wanted to hear my pathetic story. May be without my wolf, she might be thinking of me as a human.

I was so lost in thoughts…

“So, your pack abandoned you ? Or did you chose to leave ?”

Oh she knows !!

“ How you now I am a wolf ?? I mean , my wolf never surfaced and everyone in my pack considers me as a human not a wolf.”

“Is that so ?? Oh my dear, your scent belongs to wolves only. Even though it’s not so strong, there is definitely there. I am sure, your pack members must felt it too. I don’t know why they didn’t tell you this. ”

Her answer made me think. Nobody ever told me this, that my scent belongs to one of them, except of course Rex. But I thought he was saying it to make me feel better.

“Ohh !!” That’s all I could say. May be by reading my face, she continued,

“ Looks like your pack was not that nice to you. Otherwise, who would hide this from you, especially when you’re worried about  your existence of your wolf.”

“That’s right, they hate me. And I don’t belong there. I never did. It was all in my head that one day they will accept me as one among them. Hm…”

Even though I hate to cry thinking about it, my eyes welled up.

I felt her sit beside me and she side hugged me.

“Its okay, dear. You don’t need to think about any of it now. Just relax okay. A warm bubble soak will make you feel better. I have kept my fresh clothes for you there. And your wounds are healed already even without magic. By that time, I will prepare a nutritious breakfast for you. “

Before I could respond, she was near to door in a blink, after sharing a magical smile she closed the door. I slowly strode towards the small door on the left, which was the bathroom she mentioned. As I opened the door, I got the scent of fresh lemon grass and roses. She indeed put an effort to make me feel relaxed. After removing my torn clothes, I looked my tiny body in the mirror. She is right, all my wounds were disappeared. I couldn’t believe she hugged me in my dirty stinky state. And my heart told me to trust her. I could feel that we were going to be best friends. I slowly touched the water in the tub with my finger and the warmth was perfect. I dipped myself in the soak and closed my eyes. It felt so good. I tried to keep my random thoughts at bay. But those hateful memories of last night came flashing into my eyes again and again. I clutched my fist tightly. No, I am not going to cry over my past. I decided and tried to focus on the relaxing feeling I get from the best bath ever.

Maraya’s clothes fits, but a bit loose on me. I am sure, Maraya is one of the most beautiful and loving women I have ever seen. I heard a knock which brought me back from my thoughts.

“Lana, you look much better now. But, my clothes are bit loose on you. Wait a second”

Then she whispered something, then I felt the dress fits perfectly on me now. She smiled at me who had a shocked expression on face.

“Come, lets have breakfast and then I will show you around.” I gently followed her. Then her eyes caught attention on my long chain with a beautiful pendant. It was of a full moon and two wolves looking at it.

“Your pendant, is so beautiful” She said.

“Thank you, it is the only thing I have as my own. My parents abandoned me in a forest with this. May be by knowing that I am never going to be a real wolf. Anyways, I had this on my neck when my pack, I mean my foster pack members found me. Thank God, the lady who found me kept this with her, till I was sixteen. In her death bed, she gave me this back to me. Since then, I never removed it from my neck and hide well inside my clothes, as I know my loving pack members will break it if they found I have something nice with me.

I saw Maraya looking deeply into my pendant like she was lost in thoughts.

“What happened ?? “

“It looks familiar… I mean, I am damn sure, I have seen it somewhere. Or may be I am just being paranoid…” she paused.

Her first words gave me hope that she might know where I actually belong, who my parents were ??

But do I really need them who abandoned their new born in a deep forest to die ?? Hm…

“Hey, come on let’s have breakfast. Don’t think about anything for now. After that we will go for the real relaxing session….” She paused and a glee smile and said “Shopping.. of course…”

Her words and reaction brought a small smile on me. May be the moon goddess is not heartless as I thought.
