Chadwick's smile broadened in approval. He looked like someone who'd won a million dollar lottery after he had gotten over the surprise that I was chatting with his mom.

I, on the other hand, felt a bottomless peace and satisfaction. It was beyond explanation, and things were finally beginning to look up, except for the secret that Chadwick had yet to find out.

It was still surreal that his mother accepted me after finding out about my Lycan heritage. I expected the opposite from her: maybe a horrified shriek or, worse still, an outright exposure.

She took it well and accepted me for who I am. I was extremely grateful for that.

After spending a considerable chunk of the morning with us, Bianca got up to leave, picking her bag off the floor.

“That reminds me, Chad, were you invited to Sharon's wedding?”
