Chapter 2

Narrators POV.

Due to her absent mind, Amelia failed to grasp the situation and was so lost in her sadness that when the carriage hit her, she fell to the ground and fainted right on the spot.

It was her way of procrastinating. The sudden rush of emotions took a toll on her. As a result, she lost consciousness on the spot. Maybe she found it easier to rest than to struggle.

It was cloudy outside, and the sky was grumbling like it was in pain or happy to finally let out the sadness through the water. It was about to rain soon.

The carriage stopped immediately. “My lord, we seem to have hit someone to death,” said the person riding the carriage at the front.

Edmund heard the hitting sound earlier, yet his servant was saying they hit someone as if he was uncertain, which was so cruel of him.

“If you seem to have hit someone, don't just sit in the carriage. Go and check on that person,” Edmund said in a calming tone.

Unlike his words, his voice is calming and soothing to the ears. The henchman climbed down the carriage and rushed to Amelia. There was a pool of blood beside the rock. Her head got hit by the rock earlier when she was hit by the carriage. All the blood was rushing out of the back of her head like a stream.

But it wasn't their fault to begin with. It was she who suddenly appeared in front of their carriage. The henchman had no time to react, and the carriage crashed into her.

Seeing so much blood splatter around in a thick layer, he got panicky. “My lord, she has lost too much blood and has lost consciousness. She isn't responding,” he shouted in panic.

Hearing the anxious voice of his servant, who seemed to be in a confused and heart-throbbing situation, Edmund decided to step up from the carriage.

Putting all the load on his slender legs, he got up from the hard seat. Sliding away the curtains, he made his debut outside in a free environment.

His face shone brightly despite the gray and dull weather as if the earth had been blessed by his otherworldly handsome looks.

His body, as tall as a giant, with the perfect amount of curves and slenderness, made him even more holy. Currently, in a black shirt, he was no less than a sexy and beautiful man. And those black hand gloves made him even more perfect.

An example of a handsome and perfect man.

Edmund approached the henchmen and the lady lying on the ground. Based on the sound of her falling, he already predicted this matter wouldn't be light enough to shift away. She has lost too much blood already.

He bent down beside the henchmen, cupped her face, and turned her around slightly. “I have always told you to be careful when traveling. But dare you listen to me? You are always creating trouble for me and everyone else. The woman has lost way too much blood. It's hard to say if she is going to survive after this,” said Edmund after examining Amelia's condition.

The henchmen now started jumping in fright. His master is right; he always creates trouble for his master. There's not a single day when he doesn't mess around, and this time the trouble he has created is too big. He hit a person and put her on the door of death.

“Stop dilly-dallying and get her into the carriage,” Edmund instructed the man.

Bennet's eyes enlarged in shock. What did he just hear? His lord was asking him to carry this woman to the carriage.

He was not shocked because his lord asked him to get the woman in the carriage, but because his lord had never once helped any woman in the past. Before this woman, they encountered many women. Their intention behind following Edmund was to court him and seduce him. But this is the first time he has taken the initiative to approach a woman.

“Hehe! Master, I am too weak for her. She looks heavy. Only a godly figure like you can carry her. Please forgive me!” Bannet's strength was nothing but poor at the moment.

Edmund is Bannet's lord, his master, and the only person he would ever receive commands from. He will do anything for the Lord, but a few days ago he was injured in an argument with a hateful person, and his arms are still recovering. So putting more pressure on his injury will rip the stitches.

Edmund glared at him for a moment before spreading out his arms to hold the woman in his embrace. He gently held her, lifted her from the ground, and walked towards the carriage.

Amelia was unconscious right now. Nothing that they talked about went through her ear or mind. For a moment there, Edmund and Bannet thought it must be one of her tricks to get their attention.

But right now, no signs could prove their hunch right. Her whole body was as fragile and agile as a jellyfish, with no life in her. One might bend her the way they want, and she won't complain.

Plus, that blood oozing out of her head was the witness to everything. Edmund still can't trust her.

Who knows who has sent her to spy on him? And if she is not a spy, then her being a stalker can be a possibility too.

After taking her inside the carriage, he gently put her on the seat surrounded by a wall and sat beside her, tilting her head towards the wall to make it her support system.

“Let's go home,” Edmund instructed.

“Yes, my lord,” Bannet took the command from his lord and started running the carriage on a bumpy road.

Amelia had bled too much. That hit on the head earlier was too fatal for her, and her life is on the line right now. If any physician can treat her wounds and take her out of danger, he will be an angel sent from heaven, especially for her.

Bennet's eyes were on her the entire way. He could still not believe that she was injured. It was just too strange and weird for her to appear from nowhere and crash into them directly.

As much as he was suspicious of her, he was curious too. After all, she is the first woman to have made his lord reconsider something. Taking her back to his home was just the first step.

After two days,

“How's her condition now? Any idea about when she will regain her consciousness?” Edmund asked the physician who checked Amelia earlier.

It's been two days since Amelia was brought to the East Wind Mansion. And she has yet to regain consciousness. He was now starting to worry. It's not going to be simple if this girl dies in his place.

“My lord, I am not certain. She had lost too much blood when you took her to me. Her nerves had bled too much. The only thing we can do right now is wait,” said the physician.

“But I can tell you one thing for sure. She is out of danger now. So you can expect her to wake up soon,” the physician gave him another good news.

After checking up on her, the physician left. But Edmund remained in the room. He stared at her for a minute before deciding to leave her alone.

Just when he was about to leave, his eyes fell on her moving fingers. Something was happening. She just moved.

Don't know for how long Amelia was unconscious, but it felt like she was in a peaceful place, sleeping soundly without any pain or struggling with anything.

For however long she was in deep slumber, everything was painless as if she were in heaven. And then suddenly, a sudden sensation of overwhelming pain entered her mind and whole body.

This pain reminded her of many knives being stabbed into her stomach and all over her body. The sudden pain increased every second, and in the end, when she failed to control herself, her eyes opened. The extremely lit room blinded her eyes for a moment.

“Where am I?” She thought to herself.

For a moment, she thought she was inside her house, but then the ceiling was different. It wasn't her house. She recalled how her parents chased her out of the village.

Her chest became all stuffy with those unbearable emotions and memories. She jolted and sat up. Her body was all fine, but she was in pain, both from the outside and inside.

“Where am I?” She asked out loud when seeing the unfamiliar place. With that, her memories returned, even those when she got hit by something.

“You are in the East Wind Mansion,” Edmund replied.

Amelia turned her head around when that calm, soothing, husky voice entered her mind. An unfamiliar yet handsome man appeared in front of her face, sitting beside her with a curious look on his face.

He was as calm as an ice block.

Amelia was startled for a moment but then calmed her heart. “How did I end up here?” She asked.

The right corner of his lips went upward as he smirked and looked at her. “Trying to act innocent, are we?”
