ARAH

She sat frozen on Gildeon's lap, her throat clenched tight, trapping the words inside. What did he mean they needed to stop? She didn’t move, didn’t breathe—even as he reached for the blanket and wrapped it around her in silence.

Her cheeks tingled with embarrassment. “Are you serious?” she muttered, her lips quivering, unsure how to react.

He didn’t respond. His steady, serious gaze made her feel so small. She was shrinking by the second.

Her eyes locked onto his, searching for something, anything, that would make this make sense.

“Isn't this what you've always wanted?” she said, confusion in her voice.

He held her shoulders, his hands sliding up and down her arms. His touch wasn’t warm anymore. “You're not ready,” he said with finality as if he had her completely figured out.

She let out a laugh of disbelief, her eyes burning at the corners. “What do you mean I'm not ready?” Her voice nearly rose a note, her hands clutching the blanket. “Do you think I’d let you kiss me if I wa

GILDEONHe probably shouldn’t have agreed to do just anything to make amends. Out of all the things Arah could’ve asked of him… this was the last thing he expected.“Arah said you’re at least decent in the kitchen.” Tonio stood with his arms crossed, glaring at him with the kind of look that could cut a man down.Arah had warned him how much this guy knew about what had happened. Gildeon could already tell Tonio was going to give him a hard time because of it.To be fair, Gildeon had sort of earned it. And if anything, he appreciated that Arah had friends who gave a damn about her. Wanted to protect her.“I know a thing or two,” he said casually, glancing around the restaurant. They were still closed, but one of the staff was already cleaning the dining area.Photos of past customers lined the walls, including a few he guessed were celebrities—ones Arah had once bragged about when talking about Tonio’s restaurant. It

ARAHShe woke up with a big smile on her face. She couldn’t remember the last time she’d slept that well.A small pang of disappointment hit when she realized Gildeon was already gone from the bed. However, the sound of movement in the kitchen made her heart skip a beat. She sprang up, nearly tripping over Lexi’s scattered things on the floor, which she quickly gathered and tidied up.Arah tiptoed down the hallway, careful not to make a sound. Not that it mattered. Salamanders like Gildeon had incredibly sharp senses too. Still, she wanted to do some silly, sneaky things with him—just like human couples did.She leaned against the wall at the end of the hallway and watched him move around the kitchen, cooking breakfast. His back muscles flexed beneath the soft stretch of his white shirt, and she bit her lip, smiling to herself. Her mind drifted back to last night,to how big and hard he’d been for her, the hunger in his kiss,

GILDEONHe wasn’t sure how long he’d been watching Arah sleep. The steady rise and fall of her breath, the way her head rested on his arm…She was completely out, worn down from everything that had happened. She looked peaceful. Safe. Like she trusted him with all of her. It was ironic considering that the first time he brought her down to Earthland, all he’d thought about was how to make her submit to him.Gently, he brushed a blue curl from her face. He could’ve stared at her forever and never gotten tired of it.“Did Master fuck Sylph Lady already?”Gildeon’s head snapped up. At the foot of the bed, Ghulik was climbing on, crouched low on the mattress with that wide, toothy grin of his. His crimson eyes scanned Arah from head to toe like he was inspecting a prize. Gildeon pulled the comforter up to cover her bare body.‘I didn’t sense your return,’ he said telepathically, carefully sliding his arm out and sitting up.

  • MAD END'S DECEPTION   246 - I'd Rather It Be You

GILDEONShock and confusion tore through him like wildfire. Even his dragon spirit stirred uneasily within him. He had already suspected that his real mother wasn’t just an ordinary higher mortal. But to hear the words, Dragon Queen and High Immortal, was almost impossible to grasp.“Don’t know much about High Immortals, myself,” Roselia remarked, “only that Yonah’s one, far as I know.”“We don’t know much about them either.” Gildeon stared into what was left of his tea. “All we know is the Shining Keeper came down from the higher dimension with her companions—the High Immortals. They helped her shape the world how she wanted.”Arah chimed in, “So… could it mean your mother was one of those companions?”“Could be,” he replied simply, his thoughts beginning to spiral inward, tugging him deeper. But before he could get lost in the weight of that revelation, he forced himself to pull back. He needed to shift the conversation be

ARAHAs soon as the dragon vanished along with the Dark Plane gateway, the Dark Fae disappeared too. It only hit her then that the world around her had frozen, just like the first time she’d witnessed him do it. And now everything was moving again as if nothing had happened. Her weary eyes found Gildeon, and the worry on his face made her heart flutter. He rushed to her side, and the wind shield around her faded the moment he reached her.She threw herself into his arms and sobbed against his chest. His embrace tightened around her, as if he were afraid she might disappear. She didn’t mind if she got crushed in his grip. She needed his warmth, his comfort, and his sense of safety.“I’m sorry, Arah,” he whispered into her hair. “I’m sorry for making you leave. I wasn’t myself.”“I know,” she murmured, savoring every time he said sorry to her. He was so different from the Gildeon she’d first met. And while the recent events had throw

GILDEONHe jolted awake in a bed that didn’t feel familiar. The last thing he remembered was the sharp sensation of electricity surging through his body, then everything going dark.A musky blend of incense and herbal smoke filled the air. As his eyes adjusted, he spotted clusters of crystals around the room and slowly began to recognize where he was.One of Roselia’s rooms. He’d come here earlier that morning to check on Roselia and Ghulik—who were both still in hibernation—before he’d lost consciousness. Judging by the fact he’d been moved and was clearly receiving healing treatment, at least Roselia was awake. He swung his legs over the edge of the bed.The door just opened.“Oh, good. You’re awake now, My Lord. Perfect timing.” Roselia stepped in and set a tray on the nearby table. On it sat a bowl of fragrant, steaming soup and a cup of freshly brewed tea.“What happened to me?” he asked.“Same thin
