ROWAN'S POV

I turned my back on the council and walked straight toward the lead truck. My men moved with me, keeping a tight perimeter around Lila, Kai, and Theo.

"Blackwood. Wait."

I stopped, turning my head slightly. It was Jonathan. He stepped out from behind the line of guards, raising a hand to show he wasn't reaching for a weapon. He looked exhausted, the weight of a shattered pack resting heavily on his shoulders.

"You have the evidence about Leo," Jonathan said quietly, looking at Theo'

ROWAN'S POVI turned my back on the council and walked straight toward the lead truck. My men moved with me, keeping a tight perimeter around Lila, Kai, and Theo."Blackwood. Wait."I stopped, turning my head slightly. It was Jonathan. He stepped out from behind the line of guards, raising a hand to show he wasn't reaching for a weapon. He looked exhausted, the weight of a shattered pack resting heavily on his shoulders."You have the evidence about Leo," Jonathan said quietly, looking at Theo's bleeding body. "If what you say is true, Theo will face a council tribunal if he survives. You have your mate but why take Kai?"He pointed toward the unconscious young wolf slung over my soldier's shoulder."Theo crossed you," Jonathan continued, his tone practical, stripped of any anger. " But Kai belongs to our pack. Why drag him into your trucks?"I looked down at Kai’s battered face, then back at Jonathan."Kai is just a souvenir," I said, my expression completely blank. I let a faint, co

ROWAN'S POVI walked down the front steps of the house with Lila in my arms. Thomas was right beside me, his sidearm drawn, eyes scanning the dark driveway. Behind us, two of my men were half-dragging Theo’s limp, bound body down the gravel steps. Another pair carried Kai between them, his feet dragging uselessly in the dirt.We didn't even make it past the fountain.Behind the guards stood the board members and pack elders. They hadn't come here to fight me. They were dressed in formal coats and dark dresses, looking like they had just stepped out of a high-end dinner. They were here for the wedding. They had expected to find a bride getting ready and a victorious future Alpha preparing to seal his claim.Fools"What in God's name is the meaning of this?" an elder shouted, stepping forward with his hand raised."Rowan Blackwood," Miss Renards spat, pushing her way through the guard line. Her sharp face was twisted in absolute revulsion as her eyes went from my bloody jacket to Lila,

ROWAN'S POVI set Lila down gently against the side of the bed, propping her head up away from the doorway. The second I stood up, he charged at me with an insane, unnatural speed, his eyes flashing a bright, sickly yellow as his claws lunged for my throat.I barely brought my arm up in time to block. The blow hit me like a speeding car. The sheer force knocked me back two steps, my boots dragging across the floor. Pain shot up my arm as his claws tore right through the jacket down to the skin.My eyes widened. That wasn't normal werewolf strength, he wasn't even an Alpha yet he hit me with a kind of brute power that could snap a wolf's neck with one hit. If I was an ordinary Alpha, that swipe would have torn my head clean off.Theo lunged again with a wild sneer. "You thought you were the only dangerous thing here?" he spat, coming straight for my ribs."You're sloppy," I growled. My wolf took over. The ancient power in my blood, the thing that made people terrified of my family comp

ROWAN'S POVWe parked the trucks half a mile down the road. I hopped down into the floor. The air smelled like fresh rain, Theo had posted guards every fifty yards along the perimeter line, but they were sloppy. He had them focused on the main road, expecting a formal visit.Idiot"Do not give them any warnings," I said quietly, looking back at Thomas and the rest of my men. Their eyes were already changing, gold washing over their irises as their wolves pushed close to the surface. "We clear a path straight to the main house. Anyone who raises a hand goes down."We moved through the thick brush without a sound. Before the guy on the left even turned his head, Thomas hit him from behind, driving him face-first into a steel post. The guy went limp in the mud without a sound. The second guy opened his mouth to howl, but I was already over the wire.I grabbed his throat, my nails lengthening into sharp claws that bit right into his skin. I slammed him back against the fence hard enough t

LILA'S POV The room was too quiet.I sat on the edge of the mattress, staring at the thick wooden door. My hands were trembling in my lap, so I clamped them between my knees to force them to stop.Theo killed my father. The thought kept looping in my head, over and over, and I couldn't shut it off. My dad had taken Theo into our home. He fed him, trained him, trusted him with the pack's future and I had spent months believing him. I had let him touch my shoulder, let him plan our wedding, let him speak for my father's memory.I rubbed my forehead, pressing my palms hard against my temples until my eyes throbbed. Everything felt like it was spinning out of control. Theo said Rowan killed his own father. Was that a lie, too? Or was it just another secret kept in the dark? Rowan had never talked about the old Alpha Blackwood. He only ever spoke about his mother.I could not even care less right now all I wanted was him.I looked at the clock on the wall. The red numbers crept forward sl

  • MARKED BY DECEPTION    Chapter 127: A Favour

ROWAN'S POVI pulled the leather strap of my holstered knife across my shoulder, I looked around me, eight of my top men moved in in silence. I wasn't waiting for the twenty-four-hour clock to run out. I never intended to."Is the team in position?" I asked, my voice low"They're posted half a mile from the Moretti property line," Thomas replied, cinching his belt. "Theo doubled the guard on the main gates, but the old drainage grid along the east side is clear. We can breach it in ten minutes." "I want him alive if possible. But if he raises a barrel, I'll put him down myself."The iron door creaked open, and Selene stepped into the room. Her eyes were red with tears, her dark hair hastily tied back. She took one look at the weapons on the bench, then locked eyes with me."You're going right now," she said. It wasn't a question.I didn't pause as I zipped my coat. "Lila is trapped in a house with the bastard who murdered her father. I gave her enough time to realize she can't handle
