Selene's POV.

Carmen gripped my hand tighter, pulling me out of the room. She held my hand, not my wrist thankfully, because I was still sore all over.

Was Killian really going to behead those guards because of me?

Or was it pride.

We rushed outside, and my brows furrowed the moment we reached the field.

There was a crowd. A thick, buzzing crowd of onlookers, murmuring and straining to see something happening at the center.

My chest tightened as Carmen dragged me through the people. I heard bits of whispers.

“…betrayed the Alpha…”

“…he’s really going to do it…”

And then I saw Killian. His broad back was facing me, he had a sword in his hand, standing like a god about to strike down his enemies.

Three guards were kneeling before him, bound and pitiful, with their heads bowed low. One of them was crying and begging.

His voice cracking so loudly it pierced through the silence.

Then suddenly, a pregnant woman ran out from the crowd. Her dark hair was messy and her face tear-stained.

  • MARKED BY THE ALPHA'S CURSE   MYSTERIOUS

Killian's POV.I stepped out of the ward with clenched fists. The second I entered the corridor, I saw Ronan still sitting there. His eyes snapped to me the moment I approached and he shot to his feet.“How is she?” He asked.I halted in my tracks, my jaw tightened so hard I felt the veins throb in my neck.“She’s in a coma.”Ronan blinked. “What?” His voice came out like he didn’t believe me.I turned to him. “I want you to gather everyone who was at the dining hall during lunch. Every single maid and guard.”Ronan straightened. “Yes, my Lord.”“And bring them to the inner Court,” I added, already walking away.I made my way in long strides to the inner Court, each step punching into the marble like I wanted to split the floor open. The corridor guards bowed as I passed, but I didn’t see them. My mind was a roaring storm.By the time I pushed open the tall double doors and stepped into the inner court, I was boiling.I moved straight to the raised dais at the center and sat down on

  • MARKED BY THE ALPHA'S CURSE   COMA

Killian's POV.I quickly rose up from my seat and followed the guard, my heart was pounding in my chest like drums. Every step I took felt heavy. Selene collapsed? What the hell was this guard talking about? As we walked hurriedly down the hallway, I turned to him. “What happened?” I demanded. The guard looked tense. “I-I’m not sure, my Lord,” he stuttered. “I just entered the hall and saw some people rushing her out. It happened during lunch.”I stopped for a second. “What?”But I didn’t wait for him to say more. I turned and headed straight to the infirmary. When I got there, I stepped in quickly and saw Javier. He looked up the moment he noticed me.“How is she?” I asked. “What happened?”Javier took off his glasses slowly and looked at me with that expression he always had when he was about to deliver bad news.“My Lord,” he began, “it’s… not good at all.”I clenched my fists. “What do you mean it’s not good?” My voice was rough. “What happened, Javier?”He hesitated.“Javier,” I

  • MARKED BY THE ALPHA'S CURSE   LUNCH

Selene's POV.After that little drama with Lovena, I made my way back to my quarters. Lovena could never fool me.I’d dealt with sly people before, masters at manipulation and that woman reeked of it.I shut the door gently behind me and sat down on the tiny chair by the corner. Three more days of rest before I resumed being a slave. A maid or whatever they called it now.My wrists felt better. Try were not completely healed, but less sore. My mouth too. I’d recovered... physically, at least. It was nearly lunchtime. Carmen would come soon, she always did. Said she hated going to lunch without me.Just as I expected, the door swung open a few minutes later, and Carmen stepped inside like a gust of wind. She marched straight to my bed and dropped down like she'd just come back from a battlefield. “Selene, is it true?” She asked.I almost rolled my eyes. “Is what true?”She leaned forward. “Come on. Everyone’s talking about it! I literally heard two guards talking about it at the gate

  • MARKED BY THE ALPHA'S CURSE   GASPING FOR AIR

Killian's POV.After that little charade, Selene walked away, Lovena waa still sniffling like she was in a scene from a tragic play.I just stood there looking at her. I couldn’t lie to myself. I felt… confused.Lovena apologizing and crying on her knees?I’d known her all my life. And even when we were younger, she had a tongue sharper than her claws. She was proud and that sort of pride doesn’t just evaporate overnight. So watching her fall to the ground, bowing before Selene of all people? It felt surreal. Just as I turned to walk away, I felt Lovena's cold, shaky hands grab my arm."Have you forgiven me now Killian?" she asked, her eyes were glossy with tears. "I'm really sorry."I looked at her then gave her a short nod before turning to walk away.Of course, she followed me, clinging on me. But I didn’t say anything yet.She had just thrown away her pride in front of Selene. That had to mean something…right? Finally, I stopped walking and turned to her. "Why are you followin

  • MARKED BY THE ALPHA'S CURSE   A HUG

Selene's POV.It had been seven days since that whole ridiculous public spectacle, and honestly, I hadn’t seen Killian since then.I was still in my chambers apparently, the Alpha had granted me ten days of leave, and that meant I still had about three more days left before returning to duty. And I won’t lie… it felt good.No tedious work, barked orders, fake smiles.I was fed twice a day, nothing fancy, but it was enough. I’d gone to see Dr. Javier a few times to get checked, and Carmen had stopped by now and then to check up on me.I was actually beginning to enjoy the silence, even if it got a bit too quiet sometimes. But just as I was letting myself breathe, my door opened with its usual annoying creak.I groaned.Madam Lola stepped in, that same half grumpy, half annoyed expression on her face. Was the Alpha changing his mind about the leave? Was I going to be summoned back into duties already? But then Madam Lola spoke.“The Alpha is outside,” she said stiffly. “He has called fo

  • MARKED BY THE ALPHA'S CURSE   I'll KNEEL IN FRONT OF HER

Killian's POV.I sat there, tea growing cold in my hand, while Ronan talked about something I wasn’t even listening to. My mind… was somewhere else. Somewhere it had been stuck for the past seven damn days.I hadn’t seen her since that morning, since the day she stormed into the middle of my execution with blazing eyes, a firm voice and spine straight. She yelled at me in front of everyone. And the insane part? She was right. The words she said, hadn’t left my head since. ‘You don't even treat me like a human being... so why would they?’ Damn. She’d said that. And it pierced deeper than a dagger ever could. The one person who could look me in the eye and call me out. The only person I’d ever let live after yelling at me like that.Maybe it was the bond. That cursed, magnetic, undeniable pull between us. The mating bond neither of us talked about. The one we both tried to ignore. Was it really my fault?Had I been the reason those guards felt like they could tie her up like a crim
