LOGINKillian's POV
"Why didn't the curse kill her?" I berated no one in particular as I stormed into my private quarters. "Why is she still alive?" "Honestly, I have no answer to that question, Lord Wolfe." Ronan, who had followed me, replied with caution. "I find the outcome strange." I arched a brow, but it seemed he wasn't done talking. "First of all, she's the first rogue given to you as a mate," He continued. "Secondly, she looks like she knows nothing about the curse. I believe we should find the prophetess." I snorted. "That's like going on a hopeless mission, Ronan. Soteria is not that easy to find. I need answers now. Why didn't she die?" "Probably because she's the one you've been waiting for" Ronan hinted, and I frowned. "What do you mean?" I asked. Ronan shrugged. "You had the same thoughts too, didn't you? That was why you're decided to keep her instead of sending her to her grave like every other trespassers. I believe she's the one the prophecy told us about." I remained unconvinced. "If she's truly the one, why did the moon goddess have to go through the trouble of sending my previous mates to me? What prevented her from sending just the one I needed to break the curse?" "I have no idea, Lord Wolfe" Ronan replied, sighing heavily. "I strongly suggest that we search for the prophetess. It might take weeks or even months, but till then, we have the opportunity to study her." I exhaled heavily, contemplating on his words. It made sense; at least, for now. "Fine" I voiced out. "Make preparations for her at the maid quarters, then get her out of that cell. Also, make sure she isn't comfortable. I want her to go through hell for thinking she could reject me." "Your wish is my command, Lord Wolfe." Ronan replied with a bow, turning to leave. "I'll do that and keep you updated." The moment he left, I walked towards the window, staring at the sky coldly. The sun had set, and the moon was reflecting a bit. If killing the moon goddess was possible, she would have died many times in my hands for making me go through the torture of finding a perfect mate all these years. Anyways, the prophetess could be the one to pay for her sins. A knock on the door interrupted my thoughts. My sense of smell sharpened as I sniffed. Immediately, I could tell who it was. "Come in," I said icily without looking back. The door creaked open, and the clicking of heels made my ears twitch. "What do you want, Valerie?" I asked with a cold voice. I heard a soft chuckle. "Come on, Killian. I have the right to come say hi anything I want." I scoffed. What audacity? "Let this be the last time I correct you, Valerie" I stated, turning to her. "It's Lord Wolfe to you. Also, I don't remember giving you the right to barge into my quarters when you like." She pouted like a spoilt brat. "Why can't I? We grew up together. I'm basically the only woman who understands you. Who knows? Maybe the reason why your mates keep dying is because they're not a perfect match for you. I am...." "Enough" I cut her off sharply. "You've said too much, Valerie. Leave now." "Why didn't she die?" Valerie questioned sharply. I got confused. "Who?" "Your new mate" Valerie revealed. "I went to see her in her cell." I was speechless for a moment. When I found my voice, my anger rose with it. "What did you do?" I berated, my claws elongated. Our relationship was the only thing that kept me at bay, or I would have butchered her a long time ago. Valerie shrugged. "Nothing much. I was only trying to prepare her for the truth. She's going to die sooner or later and you know it." "What?!" I spat in rage. "Did you mention the curse to her?" "Does it matter?" Valerie retorted. "She's going to die anyway. What made you decide to keep a weakling like her?" "How dare you question my decision?" I scowled. My wolf was already livid. One of the things we hated was people questioning our authority. "You're crossing the lane, Valerie" I added, my voice laced with warning. "Stay away from her." Valerie scoffed. "Why must you have a destined mate only for her to end up dying? Why can't you choose one instead? Someone powerful and capable enough to rule by your side." I knew where she was going. I wanted to end the conversation as soon as possible. "An Alpha is not allowed to choose a mate" I countered firmly. "It's been like that for centuries." "But it can change from you" Valerie argued. "You're powerful enough to change any law. " I was fed up, but she wasn't done talking. "We can rule together, my dear" She stated, trying to sound vulnerable. "Let's just..." "A witch and A werewolf can't work" I declared with a tone of finality, cutting her off. "I can't claim a witch as my mate." Valerie took a step backward, pain etched on her face. "Who made that law?" She sobbed. "No one needs to make it, Valerie. It has never been heard of, and it won't start from me, " I declared. "Now, leave my quarters." "But..." "I said leave" I ordered sternly. "The next time I hear that you spoke to her, you'll face my wrath. Get out of my quarters!" Valerie hesitated, but turned to leave. The moment she stepped out, I let out a deep breath to cool off. Who the hell did she think she was? It was all my father's fault; rescuing a pregnant witch. My mother was against it, but she had no say in the matter. That witch ended up birthing the spoilt brat and dying in the process. I was a bit skeptical about her response. I needed to see if... I didn't even know her name. With a deep breath, I stepped out of my chamber and headed towards the direction of the prison. The cells I passed all held prisoners who were accused of treachery or breaking the law. I found her cell just by sniffing her scent. It was strangely quiet. She laid still on the cold floor, not making a sound. I felt the mate bond tug at me, but that wasn't what caught my attention. It was the scent of blood. I couldn't even hear her heartbeat. Fear seeped into my veins as I thrusted the iron bars open with a flying kick. I rushed in and knelt down before her. The moment I held her body in my arms, my wolf screamed in pain. She was cold.Selene's POVI fell back, sobbing in relief. The nurses moved quickly, cleaning the lightly then wrapping her in soft blankets.“It’s a girl,” Dr. Javier announced with a smile. They placed her in my arms first, and I held our daughter for the very first time. My tears ran freely, my whole body shaking as I cradled the little life I had just brought into the world.“She’s perfect,” I whispered.Killian leaned in, pressing a kiss to both of our foreheads. “You both are.”Holding my baby in my arms was the best feeling in the world. Something inside me shifted the moment her tiny weight settled against my chest. It was like the entire world had gone quiet, and all I could hear was her little breaths. But then one of the nurses stepped forward gently. “Luna, it’s time to clean her up properly. Just for a moment, then we’ll bring her back to you.”The thought of letting her go, even for a second, made my chest ache. Still, I nodded slowly and handed her over. The nurses moved quickly, wip
Killian’s POVSelene spent some time holding the baby, and I couldn’t take my eyes off her. The way she kissed the little girl’s forehead, I knew she was imagining our own daughter in her arms and so was I.In just a few months, we’d be parents. A new beginning was waiting for us, and for once in my life, I wasn’t afraid of what the future would bring. I was excited. When we finally returned to my chambers, it was time for her to rest. I held the door open and stepped inside with her, watching as she walked gracefully, despite her little sighs, and sat down on the edge of the bed.Everything about her had changed. She had gained some weight, which only made her glow more and sexy. She sat with a soft sigh, brushing her hair from her face. Then her eyes lifted to me. “Killian,” she said, “to think that you would have taken the joy of a father away from that little princess.”I paused for a second, then let out a long sigh. She was right. The memory of that day haunted me. If it weren’
Selene's POVFrom behind me, Killian’s voice came. “Please, Michael. Don’t hold on to this. Forgive her and let’s move forward from here.”Michael paused. I could feel the tension in his breath. And then, he finally moved. He reached down and lifted my mother from the ground. She looked up at him, her face streaked with tears, trembling like a child. And then he pulled her into an embrace.Something inside me broke and healed all at once. I burst into sobs and wrapped my arms around both of them, holding on as tightly as I could. After all these years, after all the pain and separation, we were finally a family again.***6 MONTHS LATERFather forgave mother, and he returned to the Sacred mountains while she stayed with us. It was a new beginning for all of us.The maids and guards now bowed with respect whenever I passed, and they addressed me as Luna. For the first time in what felt like forever, there was peace. No fear of Lucian. Six months had passed.I sat on the bench, one han
Selene's POVThe guilt in Killian's eyes was impossible to ignore.“Selene…” He said softly. “Every time I close my eyes, I still see your face when I couldn’t stop. You were so pale, and I thought…” He trailed off, shaking his head.I squeezed his hand tighter, forcing him to look at me. “But I’m here,” I whispered. “I’m breathing and I’m alive because you gained control on time. Don’t you dare forget that.”He looked unconvinced, but I didn’t let him speak. I raised my free hand and touched his cheek. “If you spend the rest of your life blaming yourself, you’ll miss everything we fought for. We didn’t come this far just for you to punish yourself.”He leaned into my palm, closing his eyes for a moment. “I don’t know what I’d do without you,” he murmured.“You won’t have to,” I said with a soft smile. “Because I’m not going anywhere.”For the first time, I felt some of the tension in him ease. After a while, I drifted into sleep. When I opened my eyes again, the sun was already brig
Killian's POVHer blood… gosh, her blood tasted so good. It was like drinking the sweetest honey, and I didn’t want to stop.“Killian, please stop!”The voice echoed in my ears, but I didn’t even know who was speaking, all I knew was the taste of Selene. But deep inside, I knew what I was doing. I knew this was her blood, my Selene’s blood, and I was draining her. I wanted to stop, but the sweetness overpowered reason. My body screamed to keep going, to take more. It was like a force pushing me deeper. But then, as her trembling voice kept calling my name, it came with memories. How she told me to trust her. How she said our bond was stronger than this blood pull. How she believed I could fight it.I growled against her skin, my fangs still in her, but my mind pushed its way back to control. I forced myself to stop. When I lifted my head, her pale face came into view. And my gaze… my gaze darkened as I saw the damage I’d done.“I'm sorry” I whispered.“It's okay. You did great.” She
Selene's POVKillian and I rushed toward Soteria, my breathing was ragged with fear.“Soteria, quickly,” I gasped, clutching his hand tighter. “We’re going to perform the ritual!”Soteria spun toward us. “Okay, okay stand here, both of you.” She pointed frantically at a circle etched faintly in the dirt.Killian and I scrambled into position. My chest heaved as I looked between them. “What next?”Soteria’s fingers moved, tracing patterns in the air. Sparks came from her palms like liquid light. “I’m making the potion. Both of you have to drink it.”“What?!” My voice cracked with panic. “You could’ve done that earlier—”“It would only take a minute!” Soteria snapped, sweat beading on her temple. “Now stay still.”A minute felt like an eternity. My throat was dry, my legs twitching. I risked a glance back to see Lucian straining, his eyes blazed with fury, while Michael and the other wizards pressed in tight formation, light streaming from their joined hands to bind them in place.“We c
