Melissa
It was God's grace that hasn't allowed me to punch the living life out of this man talking to me. Everything about men, trying to woo me pissed me off, I didn't want to hear any endearing word of any kind.
I kept forcing out laughter and faked smiles of different kinds so he wouldn't get the impression of me not being interested.
His lips curled into a smile and he came forward to touch me.
"So what do you say about going out on Friday night?"
I shifted uncomfortably, letting out an awkward smile. "I'll think about it and give you feedback, Fred."
"My name's Francis, not Fred. This is the second time you are getting it wrong," he said.
"I'm sorry," sincerely, I was sorry. I didn't really do well with names.
The corner of my right eye happened to catch the sight of a tall dark man walking towards me in gentle strides. His hands were deep rooted in his pocket as he walked graciously towards me.
I couldn't give him the impression that I was single. Without a single processed thought in my head, I shifted closer towards Fred or Francis or whatever he had called his name.
Holding his arms tightly and nudging close to him, I placed a kiss on his cheeks, still forcing out a smile.
I shrieked happily like a teenage girl in love, going on a date with her lover for the first time.
"Yes honey, I'd love to go out on Friday with you. Just text me the time and address, I'll be sure to be there."
Surprised, Francis smiled like he had won a lottery and drew out his card for me.
"7pm, be ready. I'll pick you up," he said, walking away.
By now, Alexander was right in front of me. He watched as Francis left, his stupid signature smirk dancing happily on his lips.
"You shouldn't do that just to spite me," he said. "It's been a while Melissa, you shouldn't pretend not to know me."
"Well, well, what do you want?" I folded my arms, making them rest under my bosom.
He took a step forward, inviting himself into my personal space. I acted based on instinct and took one step backward.
His gaze softened and he removed his hands from his pocket. "I'm here for you Melissa."
"If you think I'm still that scared woman who you think you can control anyhow, you are mistaken. 7 years is a lot of time for growth."
I wasn't ready to show him that his aura still affects me, that I was still scared of him. He would feast on it and dine with it.
A short laugh from him followed after my words.
"I'm not fighting with you but I'm here to fight for you," he attempted to touch me but I did the same thing, just like before. Shift away before he could reach me. "Just give me a chance."
"You have used up every single chance of yours and I have no other one to give you."
"Please believe me Melissa, I'm a changed person now," his eyes were brimming with unshed tears and words and emotions. Things he couldn't say even if he wanted to say them.
Before I could say anything, Aurora and Aiden ran in between us, playing. They stopped to look at the man who stood in front of me.
"Hi Mr Alexander Pierce," both of them greeted. My eyes were almost falling to the floor.
How did they know him? I've tried all my life to keep them away from him.
In a bid to surprise me more, he went low, acknowledging the duo. They wrapped themselves into a hug with him, which caught him unaware. Almost falling, he balanced himself and let out a chuckle.
"Easy there, don't let this old man fall off. Aurora, Aiden, how are you? Where's Albert?"
"We are fine, Albert is over there," Aiden pointed to him. Albert sat on a log of wood, munching on the snack he held.
"Albert, it's Mr Alexander Pierce," Aiden shouted. To my surprise, Albert left where he sat and started running towards them immediately.
Albert was the most fierce one, he wasn't as playful as the rest and seeing him run, just at the call of Alexander, shocked me to the core.
"Hi Mr Alexander Pierce," he greeted, stretching his tiny hand out of a handshake instead.
"How are you Sir Albert, it's nice to see you again," Alexander joked.
"Very well sir," he said.
"How about you give me and your mummy a little time, just so we can conclude our talk?"
"No problem," the 3 of them dispersed.
His gaze intensified in me, like he was waiting for me to say something.
"If you will excuse me, I have a lot of work to do," I said, attempting to walk away.
I had nothing to say to him, he didn't deserve to call himself their father. He wanted them dead long ago, he should assume his kids were dead. These were my own kids, mine alone.
"You can't keep my kids away from me Melissa," his words halted my movement.
I scoffed and turned around slowly. "Your kids are dead. They died 7 years ago, alongside their mother. So I have no idea what you are talking about."
"I know how hurt and pained you are, I–"
My fury and pain was beginning to blind me, I interrupted him before he could say any other thing.
"You have no idea how much pain I went through. You wouldn't even understand it because why, you are selfish and arrogant and wicked." I choked on my words, my anger and pain turning into tears. I stopped to catch my breath in order to continue, remembering one of the words he said to cause me emotional pain.
"You told me yourself that you wish for another woman to bear your children, not me. So please go ahead and find her, leave me and my kids alone."
I walked away not without hearing that tone I had gotten used to.
"Whatever it will take me Melissa, I'll get and have my kids back. You do not get to run away from me again," he said and my fear skyrocketed, just like a rocket launched into space.
Melissa should please take it easy on poor Alexander🥺🥺
Alexander I couldn't do anything except watch her walk away with the kids. The trio turned back at intervals, smiling and waving towards my direction as they ran ahead of their mother. Funnily enough, she never told them to stop waving at me, she just looked away, like I meant nothing to her. I have done more harm than good in this woman's life and I wouldn't want to cause more. My tone unconsciously came out rough and hard, I had no idea how it happened. No matter how much she tried to mask it, I could still see it in her eyes, she was scared of me. I wanted to fight for her but I had no idea how. She, herself, wasn't going to make it easy for me. Melissa, hating me, was an understatement. If she had the power to kill me, she would, without giving it so much thought. Giving myself a moment of bliss, I decided to go visit the royalty of Carlton. They were close friends with my parents. I was in their city, it would definitely make a lot of sense to pay homage to them. I turned t
Alexander Her cold wrinkled hands held my hands tightly, without her gaze flinching away from mine. "Is it because of the little bunny?" The Thatchers were the other people I could talk to, they have a very limited knowledge about my nightmares but they knew exactly how I felt. There was no acting like a tough man with Lady Selene and Sir Carlos. I adjusted uncomfortably in my seat, trying to fight back the burning tears from falling. "Talk to me, Alex. Don't bottle it up inside, let it out," she said. I broke down, like a broken dam, waiting to overflood the entire environment. She held me close and rocked me gently, waiting for me to finish up. "I messed up Mimi," I said, sniffing. "I really messed up badly." "It's okay child, what did you do?" "I met a very good woman, a very beautiful one at that. She bears Melissa as well. And all I did to that woman was damage her, emotionally and mentally. I made her remove her babies twice in 6 months because I still believed that I was
Alexander Irritated by the lady who stood at the door without saying a word, I walked to the door myself and slammed the door in her face. Making sure she saw how pissed I was. I'm yet to ask Mimi who that was. A knock caught my attention again. "Arggggggh," I was physically pissed by now. I had thought of the things I'd say to her in my head. "What do you want again?" I said, immediately the door went open. But then I was wrong, Lady Selene looked at me like I had just developed 2 heads. "Sorry Mimi, I had no idea that it was you," I apologized. "Has someone been to this room today?" "Yes, just a few moments ago." "Well, I'm here to tell you that dinner is almost ready and I want us to all eat together," she said, reaching for my cheeks, taking turns with them as she kissed on both sides. I hurried to my bath and by the time I came out, I saw that a fresh pair of clothes had been prepared for me. A cream t-shirt and a black shorts laying side by side. As I walked downstairs,
Melissa I pushed the door open, allowing the kids and myself inside the house. The day was physically and mentally exhausting, I had only planned for physically but mentally had to find a way to sneak itself inside the equation. "Aunty Jane," the kids ran towards her, wrapping themselves in her embrace. Well except one person, Albert. "Hi Aunty Jane," he said, with no remorse or enthusiasm in his voice. I sighed, gaining his attention. "Be nice Albert," I said. "Who said I wasn't nice? I just don't do hugs with people, except you. It's a childish thing," he shrugged. "Well, that explains it. You are still a child, my child, remember." The look on his face gave the next question away. We've been having this discussion for so long, as soon as he knew his right from wrong, Albert had always stayed on my neck. "Don't ask Albert," I warned him. "We've gone over this topic, over and over again. What would you do with it?" "It doesn't matter what I do with it," his voice went higher
Bree My gaze couldn't and wouldn't leave his rigid back, he was cold yet enticing. I wanted him, I didn't want to know what else mattered. Mother walked inside, not quite long, after he went inside. I ran straight to the seat beside my father. “Is it true what he said?” I questioned immediately. “Let an old man eat in peace, Bree,” he chastised but I wasn't having any of it. “Just tell me if it's true,” I kept whining like a child who had been denied candy. “What part of what he said are you trying to verify?” “The part where he said he is the youngest richest billionaire in New York?” He swayed his head back and forth slightly, continuing to focus on his food. “Well it's unfortunate that you have decided to steer clear away from the media. What he is saying is true.” Thinking that my father was using me to pass time, I dug out my phone from my pocket and looked up the internet immediately. His face came into view, multiple blogs and news channels headlining him. A faint smi
Alexander Maybe occupying the space little bunny and I once stayed in helped chase the nightmares away or maybe because I felt so close to being home. The night was as smooth as the furs of a sheep, calm like a wind and serene like the lullaby escaping from the lips of a woman. The morning light forced its way through the open curtains, filling the room with its blessing. I sat up, seeing toasted bread and hot chocolate prepared on my bedside table. “Lady Selene,” I said to myself, smiling. It has always been a routine for her, and she still did it, irrespective of how old she was becoming. I walked to the bathroom to relieve myself. I came out only to meet Bree sitting on my bed, waiting for God knows what. The smile on my face dispersed into a frown immediately I sighted her. “I'm very sure Lady Selene taught you better but you chose to be rude,” I said. “Good morning to you too Alexander Pierce,” she said, wearing a weird looking smile on her face. I wondered instantly what s
Melissa The audacity of this man who called himself Alexander Pierce was something I couldn't place my hands on yet. After all the things he did to scar me mentally and emotionally, he still had the guts to show his very beautiful face to me. What was I even saying? I should not be complimenting his looks at the moment but I couldn't help it. I could tell where my boys got their handsomeness from. Such a fine man, I blushed. “Miss Melissa, Miss Melissa,” the director's voice infiltrated my thoughts, forcing me out of my mental masturbation. “Yes sir,” I composed myself and stiffened my gaze. “I'm saying that I'm giving you the rest of the day away since Mr Alexander Pierce wants to see you. You can dismiss whatever you are doing and carry on,” he said. For a moment, I was glad that I could use the rest of the day to relax and definitely have time to pick my kids up at school. But I refuse to give Alexander that satisfaction. There was no point arguing with the director, I simply
Alexander The kind of luck I had always baffled me, especially when it came to fixing my mistakes with Melissa. First it was Cindy, now it was Bree. I turned to look at Melissa, she had a neutral expression on her face. “What are you doing here Bree?” I asked again. “Are you following me?” She wore an irritating smile on her face, shrugging her shoulders. Her hands went over themselves, resting directly under her bosom. “Well you could say that,” the smile disappeared from her face immediately after she ended her statement. Melissa still wasn't saying anything. It looked like she was enjoying the show that was going on between Bree and I. I closed the space between Melissa and I, trying to find the most sincere words for her. There was no point trying to act all tough in front of her when she literally just saw me a few minutes ago at my most vulnerable. “Melissa, please I know I messed up again. I'm never going to be tired of asking for more chances.” “I don't know why you are
