Melissa
It was God's grace that hasn't allowed me to punch the living life out of this man talking to me. Everything about men, trying to woo me pissed me off, I didn't want to hear any endearing word of any kind.
I kept forcing out laughter and faked smiles of different kinds so he wouldn't get the impression of me not being interested.
His lips curled into a smile and he came forward to touch me.
"So what do you say about going out on Friday night?"
I shifted uncomfortably, letting out an awkward smile. "I'll think about it and give you feedback, Fred."
"My name's Francis, not Fred. This is the second time you are getting it wrong," he said.
"I'm sorry," sincerely, I was sorry. I didn't really do well with names.
The corner of my right eye happened to catch the sight of a tall dark man walking towards me in gentle strides. His hands were deep rooted in his pocket as he walked graciously towards me.
I couldn't give him the impression that I was single. Without a single processed thought in my head, I shifted closer towards Fred or Francis or whatever he had called his name.
Holding his arms tightly and nudging close to him, I placed a kiss on his cheeks, still forcing out a smile.
I shrieked happily like a teenage girl in love, going on a date with her lover for the first time.
"Yes honey, I'd love to go out on Friday with you. Just text me the time and address, I'll be sure to be there."
Surprised, Francis smiled like he had won a lottery and drew out his card for me.
"7pm, be ready. I'll pick you up," he said, walking away.
By now, Alexander was right in front of me. He watched as Francis left, his stupid signature smirk dancing happily on his lips.
"You shouldn't do that just to spite me," he said. "It's been a while Melissa, you shouldn't pretend not to know me."
"Well, well, what do you want?" I folded my arms, making them rest under my bosom.
He took a step forward, inviting himself into my personal space. I acted based on instinct and took one step backward.
His gaze softened and he removed his hands from his pocket. "I'm here for you Melissa."
"If you think I'm still that scared woman who you think you can control anyhow, you are mistaken. 7 years is a lot of time for growth."
I wasn't ready to show him that his aura still affects me, that I was still scared of him. He would feast on it and dine with it.
A short laugh from him followed after my words.
"I'm not fighting with you but I'm here to fight for you," he attempted to touch me but I did the same thing, just like before. Shift away before he could reach me. "Just give me a chance."
"You have used up every single chance of yours and I have no other one to give you."
"Please believe me Melissa, I'm a changed person now," his eyes were brimming with unshed tears and words and emotions. Things he couldn't say even if he wanted to say them.
Before I could say anything, Aurora and Aiden ran in between us, playing. They stopped to look at the man who stood in front of me.
"Hi Mr Alexander Pierce," both of them greeted. My eyes were almost falling to the floor.
How did they know him? I've tried all my life to keep them away from him.
In a bid to surprise me more, he went low, acknowledging the duo. They wrapped themselves into a hug with him, which caught him unaware. Almost falling, he balanced himself and let out a chuckle.
"Easy there, don't let this old man fall off. Aurora, Aiden, how are you? Where's Albert?"
"We are fine, Albert is over there," Aiden pointed to him. Albert sat on a log of wood, munching on the snack he held.
"Albert, it's Mr Alexander Pierce," Aiden shouted. To my surprise, Albert left where he sat and started running towards them immediately.
Albert was the most fierce one, he wasn't as playful as the rest and seeing him run, just at the call of Alexander, shocked me to the core.
"Hi Mr Alexander Pierce," he greeted, stretching his tiny hand out of a handshake instead.
"How are you Sir Albert, it's nice to see you again," Alexander joked.
"Very well sir," he said.
"How about you give me and your mummy a little time, just so we can conclude our talk?"
"No problem," the 3 of them dispersed.
His gaze intensified in me, like he was waiting for me to say something.
"If you will excuse me, I have a lot of work to do," I said, attempting to walk away.
I had nothing to say to him, he didn't deserve to call himself their father. He wanted them dead long ago, he should assume his kids were dead. These were my own kids, mine alone.
"You can't keep my kids away from me Melissa," his words halted my movement.
I scoffed and turned around slowly. "Your kids are dead. They died 7 years ago, alongside their mother. So I have no idea what you are talking about."
"I know how hurt and pained you are, I–"
My fury and pain was beginning to blind me, I interrupted him before he could say any other thing.
"You have no idea how much pain I went through. You wouldn't even understand it because why, you are selfish and arrogant and wicked." I choked on my words, my anger and pain turning into tears. I stopped to catch my breath in order to continue, remembering one of the words he said to cause me emotional pain.
"You told me yourself that you wish for another woman to bear your children, not me. So please go ahead and find her, leave me and my kids alone."
I walked away not without hearing that tone I had gotten used to.
"Whatever it will take me Melissa, I'll get and have my kids back. You do not get to run away from me again," he said and my fear skyrocketed, just like a rocket launched into space.
Melissa should please take it easy on poor Alexander🥺🥺
AlexanderI had the biggest round table made yesterday, with so many chairs. We wanted a large family meal with everyone we had come in contact with that year except the people who were behind bars. Mrs Dawson was closest to us, so I had her picked up myself. Janet, Maddy, Sally, Jayson, Andrew; were all invited from Carlton. I had my private jet go pick them up. It was a very beautiful sight. The chefs cooked exotic meals and everyone looked forward to eating together.Knowing the table wouldn't be able to get inside, we placed it under the tree in my yard. Everyone got to get a room to themselves and even though the house was rowdy and noisy, it still made a lot of sense.“The table is ready and being set, come on out everyone,” the kids ran around the house, bellowing this information.Everyone trooped out of their rooms, laughing and talking with one another. One by one, we sat at the table and the empty chairs were moved away by the staff.I stood up, raising a glass cup and a for
AlexanderEverything was starting to happen the way I wanted it to be. A very big happy loving family, with no issues or any form of bad blood amongst us. Yet I still dreamed of doing one beautiful thing, getting married to Melissa properly. I had asked for her hand in marriage again from her parents and they had given me their full support. Deep down I know that Melissa would love to start afresh with me again but I just wanted her to know some disturbing things from my life.I admired the diamond ring I got for her the day before yesterday. I had solely made sure that was all I did yesterday—find a wedding ring that is befitting for my woman. My ears caught the whiff of footsteps and I quickly hid the ring case. She sank into the bed beside me, rubbing my face. “Hey Alexander Pierce, I've been looking for you all over the house. Are you sure you are fine?”“Of course,” I gave a small smile. I didn't have the courage to look her in the eyes and she noticed it. To her, it might feel l
BreeA bowl of popcorn sat graciously on the table as we munched on it. Myself and the trio were binging a popular TV series. The remote was yanked from Albert's hand as he was the one controlling everything.“Hey,” he turned around screaming, he toned down his voice immediately he saw who got the remote from him.“Excuse us,” Alexander sat with Melissa beside me. Lady Selene walked in with Sir Carlos and just like that the kids found their way inside. It was a suspicious gathering. I looked from left to right but all their attention was on the TV. “I think I'll go inside with my buddies too,” I said, standing up.“No sir down Bree, you are needed here. Not with them,” Alexander said. Reluctantly, I sat. “Well, will someone be kind enough to explain the sudden strictness on your faces and the gathering?”He tuned the TV set from one station to another and he finally settled for one. It was a news channel, James and Melissa's foster father were being sent to jail.Judge: “James Talon
BreeIt's been 3 days since I last went to the police station. Alexander and Melissa were back home and everything and everywhere has been lively—back to how it used to be. I was still sulking about my visit, I was hating myself for it. The more I thought about it, the angrier I became with myself. I locked myself in my room, not letting anyone see me or talk to me. Aiden was smart enough to know that I didn't want to be seen so he always delivered my food through the space under the door. Everyone tried to talk to me but I wasn't letting them in.As usual that day, I sat in my bed, moping into space, still in my current situation before I heard the impossible.“Please break this door down, it's my house. I have a lot of them and I'll just have this repaired instead if everyone chose to stay here.I didn't believe what I heard. A few strikes at the locks and the door was forced open. I maintained my position and didn't move an inch.Melissa ran forward first, hugging me without mindi
BreeWith a black hoodie over my head, hiding the plasters that were still on my face, I snuck out of the house to the main road. Boarding a taxi to the police station, I was just so grateful that Melissa and Alexander weren't back from their trip. The kids and Lady Selene are today, sleeping I guess. That can only explain why the house was extremely silent before I left.No matter how much I tried to take my mind off it, I just wanted to see him. The man that called himself my biological father, the man that killed my mother just because he envied a set of people with generational wealth.“Hi good morning,” I greeted the first officer I came in contact with. “I'm here to see James Talon.”“Please sign here while I bring him out for you,” he pushed the visitor's signing book to me. “What's your name?”“Bree.”“Bree what?”I didn't know which one was appropriate. Whether to say Bree Thatcher or Bree Talon, none of them was settling right with me at the moment.“Just say Bree,” I half s
Melissa With the car seat lowered to the back, I desperately sought sleep. Alexander and I were home alone with the staff, we refused to sleep on time and played around like kids till the early hours of the morning. I wondered how he got up so early without a trace of sleep on his face, I guess work had made him get accustomed to it.I felt a hand on my face, pinching my nose and my ears. In a sleepy voice, I begged.“Oh God Alexander, let me have a little nap before we get to our destination, please,” I begged.“That isn't going to work on me,” he taunted. “Remember you wanted to play last night and I indulged you. You forget the fact that I'm a businessman and I'm used to staying awake.”I flung my hands out tiredly, signifying my surrender. “Oh the mighty Alexander, I give up. Let thy maiden enjoy her beauty sleep.”He chuckled, finally considered my request and let me be, diverting all his attention to the road. I heard him start rhyming with some words.“Wake up Melissa, we are
