College calling

Olivia lane sat down on her wooden bed which will sooner or later break into pieces smiling dreamily as the thoughts of going to college made her happy.

 At last her college fee is complete after years of working hard and waiting .

" Olivia !". Her mum called from the kitchen .

She kept the brown envelope neatly inside her drawer , saving money in the bank meant having to pay extra charges and she cannot afford to lose out any money so she resulted to saving cash.

 She walked excitedly into the kitchen humming one of drake's rap song .

" Goodmorning mum ". Olivia greeted enthusiastically still humming .

" Someone seem happy this morning "  

Olivia's mum stirred the food she is cooking without sparing her clearly excited daughter a glance .

" I'm going to college" olivia blurted out hoping her mum will just be as excited as she is .

Olivia's mum on the other hand turned pale immediately she heard what her daughter said.

 How is she meant to tell her daughter she can not afford sending her off to college after she had patiently waited for years at home while her mates were in school ? 

Olivia noticed her mum's reaction and instantly got the message ,she smiled gently if money is the only reason why her mum will disapprove then there's nothing to worry about .

" I've saved up enough for my tuition mum ,you don't have to worry about anything ". Olivia hoped that would put an end to the reaction her mum was giving her .

Her mum put off the gas stove and turned to look at the baby she had carried in her womb for months who has now matured into a beautiful young lady.

" Come here " her mom motioned for her to come closer and pulled her daughter into a hug .

Olivia's mum sighed dejectedly ,it's too hurting for her to bear the fact that she can't even carry out her primary parental responsibility but what could she do ? The small money she makes from the eatery is not even enough to feed them and pay their bills .

" I'm proud of you Olivia ".

Olivia smiled brightly .

Now her dream is finally starting to come true .

" Mum ! I'm so hungry ". Robert looked amused with the scene in front of him. 

Why is his mum hugging his sister this early in the morning? He knew he was going to be nagged to death by his sister .

" Are you not going to school? " Olivia asked surprised her younger brother looks like he just rose from his bed .

Robert scratched his head lazily and looked at their mother with his eyes begging for her to help him and she didn't dissapoint him .

" Give your brother a break olivia". Their mum chipped in quickly .

Mrs lane is a hardworking and impartial person but whenever it comes to Robert ,Olivia has her doubts .

" Get ready for school now or you'llstarve to death !." Olive yelled glaring at her brother. 

" Olivia !" Their mother called .

 " I meant what I said mum " . 

Robert looked at their mother waiting for her to protest again but he received a shrug and he knew he had lost the battle at that moment so he dragged his feets and walked back to his room to prepare for school .

He cannot afford to be starved by his sister. 

Olivia and her mum giggled at each other .

" Don't be too hard on my son ,he's still a child " .

" A sixteen year old is not a child mum" .
