View MoreI didn't mean to come home early. If I hadn't... maybe I wouldn't have seen it. Maybe I will still be kept in the dark and stay stupid. Stayed in love.
I took out my spare key as I stood outside our shared bedroom... but something felt off. It was quiet. Too quiet. "Francis? Are you home?" I pushed the door open and my heart stopped. My whole world shattered. There they are. My boyfriend and my sister. On the bed. Wrapped around each other like I never existed. Eight years. Eight years of love... erased in one moment. "Lilary—I-I can explain—wait—" His voice sounded panicked. Guilty. I let out a small laugh, "Pathetic." I looked at my sister and walked towards them with a calm expression. I refuse to break in front of them. Not now, not ever. But I won't let them go easily either. "I hope it was worth it," I whispered before shifting my attention to my boyfriend. I slapped him hard on the face that made my sister tremble. "We're done." I stated then turned to my sister. I gave her a smile before slapping her hard. “Even my palm is not worthy of touching such disgrace." " How dare you slap me!” Hanah said and was about to slap me. I grabbed her hand and slapped her again. " I know that you envy me and are very desperate to walk in the same shoes I wore… but I didn't know you would stoop so low." I said and I can see her gritting her teeth. I let go of her hand and she desperately covered herself with the blanket. “Lilary, honey, I can explain. Let's talk please?” Francis begged. I looked at him and laughed, " What's there to explain? You cheated, Francis." “You were just so busy all the time-" “Busy to help you pay your debt!" I shouted at him. “Even your own father didn't help you because you're like this.” I said and I could see him froze. " Take back what you said!" He yelled and was about to stand but Sarah touched her arm to stop him from doing so. I walked towards the door and faced them, “Don't think that this is over." I said and walked away. I booked a nearby hotel and stayed for the night. I sat on the edge of the hotel bed, still in my clothes. The room is quiet but my mind isn't. If they could betray me like I meant nothing... then I will make sure they lose everything. My phone lights up and I open it. Francis calling. I stared at it and let it ring until it stopped. I sighed and a message followed immediately. "Please, just talk to me. I can explain, it's not what you think." "Not what I think?" I mumbled. "I saw everything. I witnessed it in my own eyes." I turned off my phone and decided to rest for the night but my phone lights up again and another notification pops up. It's from an unknown number. I opened it. "Miss Cruz, this is regarding Mr. Francis Hemenez's unpaid balance..." My jaw tightened and slowly, I sat up straighter. "So this is how it is..." I muttered. I scrolled through old messages, emails, bank records—everthing I once ignored out of love. Now, I can see it all clearly. It's been in front of me all along. Debts. Lies. Excuses. All of it. That night, something inside me changed. My gaze dropped back to my phone and a bold idea crept into my mind. I knew exactly how to get my revenge. I went to the internet and started doing my research. One name. One man. Dominic Hemenez. My ex-boyfriend's powerful, untouchable, dangerous father. I read his articles, interviews, and business profiles. I bit my lower lip. A man who doesn't forgive weakness. I clicked one of his photos and stared at it. A slow smile formed on my lips. Perfect. "Let's see how long you can stand watching me ruining your lives.""H-hey, we were just kidding. We're not actually serious."I laughed nervously."Wife." Dominic looked at me."Are we getting arrested?" I mouthed.Dominic stared at me before he smiled reassuringly.Who would have thought Dominic would smile at me like this even if we are on the verge of getting arrested? The man who claimed for us to be arrested chuckled. What is happening?"It never really gets old, huh?"I looked at the man. Is he a friend of Dominic?"You almost had me. Really." Dominic wiped the side of his lips with a napkin."I will get you next time.""You have been saying that for the past 26 years."Twenty-six years? That's a long time.I stared at the two of them. I don't know what to say. I don't even know who this man is.I was about to open my mouth to ask what was happening when Dominic suddenly reached for my hand."Henry, this is Lilary. My wife."Wife.I felt butterflies inside my stomach, and I actually felt my cheeks starting to heat up."Oh, so this is she." The
"Can you take this back? I appreciate the compliment but I don't want to drink this respectfully.""I apologize, ma'am, but we have a policy here-""She is married. Take the goddamn drink back."Dominic's voice was so sharp that the waiter actually flinched."R-right away sir."The waiter hurriedly took the drinks back and left immediately."Who sent it though?" I mumbled as I started to look around."Interested?""No. Just curious." I looked at Dominic, "What about you?""No.""Why?" "Because you are married to me."My heart did a sudden flip. What did he just say?Why does he always say something like that? It's frustrating how my heart always go wild. What are you doing to me Dominic?Am I really falling for you?ANNA'S POV"Don't you dare walk out on me, Francis!" I said firmly."You don't have any rights to decide what I do." he reached for the doorknob. My hands formed into a clench."How dare you talk to me like that?" I said as I stepped closer to him."You're not Lilary. Th
I glanced at Dominic, who was fixing his sleeves.I still can't get over what happened earlier. I did not expect that.I put down my comb and applied red lipstick. I pressed my lips together and smiled. My red dress hugged my curves, and it also matched my makeup perfectly.I stood up and walked past Dominic before opening the walk-in closet and choosing a four-inch nude heel.I stared at myself in the mirror and tried to keep myself calm.I can't believe Dominic and I are going out to dinner. It's like a date. The thought somehow made the butterflies dance in my stomach.I sighed as I realized that anyone could approach us at any time to ask about Francis's conference. Although the rumors were already starting to die down, I still couldn't shake off the feeling."I might as well cancel the reservation."My head turned toward the door, and I saw Dominic leaning on the doorframe, looking... refreshed. He was wearing a tailored two-piece suit in a warm, light beige, with the cut featuri
"Ma'am, as much as I want to tell you, I can't."I rolled my eyes secretly. "Come on, this is just between us. I won't tell Dominic—""Like what I said when I helped you get the master comfortable after he fell asleep?" He raised his eyebrow, his hands behind his back.I scratched the side of my head. "That was an accident. I was trying to convince him to attend his late wife's death anniversary.""Ma'am, I apologize—""Are you really going to ruin my morning by not telling me what I want to know?"I watched as his face tightened, and I smiled secretly.Gotcha!"Mrs. Hemenez, it was the master's order that we don't tell anyone what his childhood was like," Gregory said calmly.Or so I thought. What a bummer."You're just as stubborn as Dominic—""Thank you.""Uh, no. I was actually going to say it's annoying."He looked at me, surprised. "No wonder the master agreed to marry you." He turned around to leave."What? Hey! Get back here!"I ran to catch up to him when his pace suddenly in
I tried calling my mother multiple times that I lost track of how many calls went into her voicemail."Dominic, she's not answering her phone," I said as I tried calling again."Hang on, we're almost there."I nodded and called my mom's number again. What could they possibly want from my mom? This
"I just can't believe that my father took advantage of the situation and stole Lilary from me." Francis shook his head, as if disappointed."I tried to fight for our eight-year relationship like a decent man would do, but my father is a powerful man. There wasn't much I could do.""And that's hard,
DOMINIC'S POV I carefully untangled her grip on my shirt before slowly pulling away. "Don't leave..." I stared at Lilary. How can she even mumble something right now? Is she telling me not to leave? My heart rate fastened at the thought. What the actual heck? Does this mean she feels safe ar
I absentmindedly ate dinner as I recalled what happened earlier. His touch. His words. It all affected me greatly, and I can't seem to erase them from my mind now.I couldn't even glance at Dominic because I don't know what I would do if we looked into each other's eyes.I almost flinched when Domi
