CATHARSIS.

My eyes were probably bloodshot and tears were beginning to blur my vision. A part of me was dying or rather, a larger part was dead, all I felt was nothing less than numbness.

The shock of what happened today had made me incapable of feeling anything except the burning sensation in my head, I was ill, a temperature of about 104 degrees, I wondered how I managed to maintain my consciousness because there were moment I felt I was going to collapse.

How did this happen? How did my birthday that I felt would be the most perfect end up becoming the biggest nightmare of my life?

I, Yvonne Carla, was married to Enzo Matteo, the most dreadful man in Palermo.

The thought of that alone made my head hurt times 5, and she wanted more than anything for someone to wake her up, telling her it was a dream.

Lost in my thoughts, the car came to a halt at Enzo's penthouse, it looked so daunting and intimidating. It was engulfed in darkness in darkness and as I peered out of the car window, it dawned on me that this will be my new home.

The gates opened to let the car in, and I could feel everyone following my face as the car made its way inside.

When the car had stopped, Enzo sprang from his seat, getting out and slamming the car door behind him.

A migraine made its way to my head and it being coupled with burning fever didn't help my condition, I tried to move but I felt too weak. The driver had noticed my predicament and opened the door with a concerned expression on her face.

"Miss, are you okay?"

I shook my head and a sharp pain shot as I did. Everything was starting to spin and for a second, I thought I was going to die, my eyes began to water, I distinctly heard the call of Enzo's name before it all faded to black.

"Will she be okay?" Enzo asked.

I scoffed mentally, even in my state of near unconsciousness, I knew he didn't care about me.

Couldn't he just let me be? I would rather remain unconscious than face the reality of me being his wife.

The reality that there I'm Enzo's Matteo wife and the reality that there was no Henry.

"Yes, she will be. She just needs enough rest.

A sharp pain shot through my chest as I thought about Henry. I wondered if he was okay, if he hated me, I can't live with the thought of him hating me, I heard the doctor leave.

Now, it was just Enzo and I in the room, I didn't want that, I wanted to go home, I wanted to see Henry.

Enzo hovered around me protectively and I shivered inwardly at the size of him, I couldn't see his expression, was he worried? Angry?

He knelt down beside the bed and asked, "What's wrong?"

"My head hurts so bad." I managed to say without a single teardrop.

"Here are some drugs you can take to make the pain go away." He pointed to the drugs on the bedside.

He switched off the bedside lamp as he left.

"I will have one of the maidens bring your meal."

A thought crossed my mind as I watched him walk away, how unusual it was for someone to be so fond of the dark.

It was weird.

Few days had passed and I would say the reality was dawning on me slowly that I was married to Enzo.

We barely spoke even though we lived in the same house which wasn't a problem for me, I could live the rest of my life living that way.

The only comfort I had in the midst of everything was that my mom's surgery was scheduled to be in the next two weeks, and my dad and sister were beginning to do well off, that was all that comforted me when I would cry my eyes at night.

I was out of the hospital, excited to tell my dad about mom's health. Walking down the empty street, I called his number and when he answered, I greeted, "Hey dad."

He was about to respond when my head got hit by a brick and I distinctly heard him call me princess again until it all faded black.

"I'm telling you, she was kidnapped!" Carlo slammed his hands hard on the table.

"I can feel it. The call ended abruptly and when I called back, no one answered, something is wrong, I can feel it."

"You need to help her. P..lease." Carlo begged.

"I will." Enzo said as he got up from the office chair.

"Afterall, she is my wife." He said. "So, you should go home, you have nothing to worry about."

"Really?"

"Yes. Please go home." Enzo persuaded.

With that, Carla exited the Penthouse, hoping for the safe returns of his daughter.

I slowly opened my eyes to my head hurting, and my eyes watering.

Everywhere was pitch black except for this little ray of light from the window, but it wasn't enough, I saw my hands were tied. Where was I? Who would have done this? It didn't matter, I needed to get put of here.

I began to make an attempt in loosening the rope tied on my hand.

"Hey princess." A voice called.

I had recognized that voice and my heart skipped a beat when I was sure on who it was as his face came to the light.

It was Henry.

"H…henry?"

"Yes baby girl. It's me."

"A….r….w..hy?" I questioned, holding back my tears.

Henry went down on his knees and said, "I would call it revenge."

"I..s this about me g..getting married to Enzo?"

"Bloody hell yes!" He yelled and I could swear I peed on my pants.

"Yes. Do you think I'm a joke? Leaving me the moment you got tired of me?"

"N..no Henry. That's not true. I…."

He grabbed my face as hard as he could and that was when I saw it, the hate and disgust in his eyes, "Shut it, bitch!"

A tear dropped.

Then, he continued, "Why Enzo?! Why does it have to be him!"

"Enzo got my brother murdered."

"M…urder?"

"Yes, Yvonne. Murder. And I swore I would get justice for him and what happened? The woman I love so much gets married to him."

"I…..

"Shut it!" He yelled again.

Was I going to die? Was he going to kill me? I could tell he didn't love me, I don't know if it was because of the cold floor but I felt nauseous.

"But I know Enzo doesn't love you. I don't know what deal you had with him, but he doesn't love you."

"I love you, I loved you and seeing how you betrayed me, you leave me no choice but to kill you."

Immediately after his last statement, he cocked his gun at me, but I don't think I was going to beg that he spared me, I hurt Henry a great time, maybe this was Karma.

"Goodbye Yvonne..don't worry, I will die with you as I have nothing to live for."

My eyes were closed, ready to receive my fate. This was my end, or so I thought until I heard a fall.

Opening my eyes, it was Enzo, he had kicked Henry and was now on top of him, punching him so hard.

"E..nzo." I whispered.

Watching as he punched Henry, I knew he wasn't going to stop, and so, I ran to Enzo on my knees with every ounce of strength in me.

"P…lease, don't kill him." I begged.

"P…lease."

He took a deep breath and got off Henry with some last words, "I give you 24 hours to leave my city. If you don't, I will kill you this time, for real."

He held my hands and it was warm, and even with the little Ray, I could see his eyes, they were pretty, "Let's go home. Everyone is worried about you." He said.

Walking out of the building, I watched Enzo walk in front of me with his two bodyguards by my side.

My head was hurting, I was cold, I had so much body pains that I could barely move, but in all sincerity, I was glad.

I was glad someone came for me. I was glad that I got to live….were the last thoughts in my head as I fell to the floor, losing my consciousness.

"How is she, doc?" Enzo asked, holding onto Yvonne's hand.

"Did you know your wife was pregnant?" The doctor asked.

"P..pregnant?"

"Yes. She was 2 weeks pregnant."

"Was?"

"Yes. I'm sorry but she lost the baby."
