I laid in his bed, my body wrapped around dark sheets. My mind lost as I listened to the sound of the shower running from the bathroom.

He fulfilled his promise, taking me hard and fast, and I savored every moment.

The sound of Ethan’s ringing tone brought me out of my thoughts.

Allowing curiosity to get the best of me, I reached out to pick it up.

“What are you doing?” Ethan’s deep voice came, making me flinch in shock.

Wrapped with only a towel around his waist, he came out of the bathroom. His ripped figure dripped with water.

He moved toward the bed, swiping his phone away before my fingers could touch it, his face stoic and expressionless.

Picking up the call, he moved to the balcony to answer. My fist clenched, my chest burned with a sensation I could hardly explain.

I had seen the caller ID clearly ‘Little one,’ and there was only one person he called that: Jennifer.

“I’m coming right now,” he said as he walked back into the room still on the phone. He ended the call, movin

“Please Jennifer, I don't have time for this, I am currently in grave danger. People are looking for me, they are going to…” “Oh shut the hell up Leah. And so what if you are in danger, deal with it yourself. I see no reason why you should involve my future husband. Ethan is currently still asleep in my bed, we had a long, wild night,” She said smugly. And immediately my phone beeped with a notification.I opened it to see Jennifer had sent me a picture of Ethan shirtless on a bed, with a blanket around his waist. He looked so peacefully asleep. So he really spent the night. That's why he never came back last night. My heart trembled in pain—seeing the evidence clearly although I had already known made it hurt worse.“There she is, drag her to me, we'll teach her a lesson, that’ll mark her for life,” a voice shouted. My body shook and the phone fell from my hands.“Please, please Jennifer i beg you. Inform Ethan, or please help me yourself, these people might kill me,” I pleaded th

‘I left something precious for you. It was my mother’s now it’s yours,’ those words echoed continuously in my mind.My mind was clouded with thoughts as I walked aimlessly on the street.“There she is, husband snatcher,” a voice yelled.I turned to see a group of girls gathered at the corner looking at me with danger gleaming in their eyes.“You think you could just seduce our angel's husband and sleep with him right? You evil woman,” the one in the middle said, stepping forward. Her voice drew the attention of onlookers.I stood frozen in shock as I watched them.“What are you talking about?” I asked in frustration, having enough on my plate already.“Look! She is pretending to be innocent now,” one of them barked, a loud laugh bursting out of her throat.“She seduced another woman’s fiance and made him sleep with her. Women like this should not exist. They are destroying our society and teaching the wrong morals to our girls,” She spat, disgust evident in her tone.By now, a crowd h

  • MARRYING MY STEP-SISTER'S GROOM    CHAPTER THIRTY-THREE : MY MOTHER’S OLD JOURNAL

There was only one person who I knew looked like that and that was—Vivian.“Thank you,” I whispered to my landlord, squeezing a couple of dollar notes into his hands as I rushed inside our old apartment. The musky smell of dust was the first thing to greet me immediately after I stepped inside. I walked into the small space which I converted into a room for my mum in the past. After searching each and every corner of the room, I still found nothing, not one document about the Harnes inheritance. My eyes landed on my mothers old journal, and I stretched my hand to pick it up.She always wrote in this old thing, and she valued it more than her life. I remember trying to throw it away once and she completely lashed out at me.I wonder what she wrote in here, that made her too busy to actually take care of me.I flipped through the book’s contents reading how my mother described her failed love life with my father. My eyes widened in shock when I read the contents of the next page.“My

When…when did my mother say that? “We cannot afford her getting married to an unknown man. And, I need a way to control her, to watch her. So, getting married to you is the only way. If she marries you, she would be completely under our control, we will not need to worry about an outsider trying to take the properties. And even if she later discovers that her mother gave me the property papers and everything in the Harnes name still belonged to her, it would be too late because she would already be married to you at that time. Meaning everything belongs to her and you. You should be grateful to me Xavier,” Vivian said laughing darkly.I stepped backward, my eyes wide with shock and my mind reeled at what she said. What does she mean by my mother giving her fake property papers? My mother lied, or did Vivian lie?How could they do this? So I have been living a lie all along. I suffered for nothing, sacrificing my future for nothing, thinking I had lost a long time ago, when it all w

“Mum, it’s me Leah,” I said in fear. She shook my hands away from hers, moving back towards the bed.“Am I supposed to know who you are?” She questioned with suspicion. The expression in her eyes made my heart twinge in pain, when she stared at me like I was a stranger.“It’s me Leah. I’m your daughter,” I repeated this time, pleading for her fucked up brain to believe me. But just like always—she laughed.“Who are you girl? Are you lost? I don’t have a daughter, please get away from me,” she asked, sitting in a protective stance on the bed, as if she were expecting me to attack.“I’m not lying. Don't you remember mum—me—Leah Harnes, the daughter you birthed, with the love of your life—Robert Harnes,” I replied, pleading and begging for her to remember me.I watched in hurt as her face twisted when I mentioned my father, as she whispered his name under her breath. Then her eyes drastically flared, and she shouted for help.“Help! Somebody help me! This strange woman here is trying to
