Mag-log inTHIRD PERSON'S POV
Aiden. No! No! No! She pinched herself until it hurt as the footsteps drew closer. Karla abandoned all the training her father had taught her. How to stay calm in every situation so she could come out on top. To be fair, she had been doing that before that pleasant, horrible smell. She grabbed the bars and shook them loudly, hoping they would somehow give way so she could escape. Zeal was not helping matters, she whimpered in pleasure and chanted for her mate. Had she seriously forgotten what he had put them through these past three days? Karla wondered in frustration. He was the reason they were in so much pain and starving too. How did he even manage to find her? She was far away from Blue Moon Pack. What did the moon goddess have against her? All these questions raced in her mind. She realized that there was nothing she could do in this moment other than to try to get as far away as possible, so she drew to the back of the cage, ready to attack him. To her greatest surprise, the person that strolled up to her was the last person she ever thought she would see ever again. "Ace?" She whispered and pinched herself again, hoping desperately that this would not be a dream. Even though the two men were identical twins, she had never mixed one up for the other. So she was definitely sure that her best friend was the one standing in front of her. He was also the one that Zeal was eager to get her hands on. Ace was her mate? How was this even possible? She was still reeling from the pain Aiden had caused her, and now she had another mate? Not any other person? Ace? Ace, on the other side of the bar, was going through his own shock and confusion, too. Like Karla, he had recognized her instantly. Yes, it had been years since he last saw her, and she was haggard and tired, but he still recognized her straight away. He was so stunned that he could hardly speak. Karla. His Karla was right in front of him. She was the last person from his past that he thought he would see again. She had been a big part of his teenage years. Their friendship had been unconventional, but there was nothing anyone could do about it. She was the only person he regretted leaving behind, and now she was in front of him. What's more? He was struggling to keep Zeus, his wolf, at bay. When his beta had informed him that they had caught a new rogue, his first reaction had been to leave it to his men to figure out what to do about him. "It's a woman, Alpha." That had caught his interest. There were hardly ever female rogues. For a woman to be sent out of her pack, it meant that she had been wronged or that she was a traitor. Usually, it was mostly the latter, so he wanted to check it out for himself. In the Rogue pack, of which he was Alpha, they welcomed everyone, for he too was been cast out by his people, but that was a story for another time. They had a system to determine who would be accepted into the pack. If an evil man like a rap*st had been cast out and he happened to stumble upon the Rogue pack, he would be killed. They were outcasts, not evil. Ace would usually leave it to his men, but there was something that urged him to take care of it by himself. The urge made sense to him when he reached the outhouse where the prisoners were kept and the most delicious scent wafted up to his nose. If not for his extraordinary restraint, his wolf, Zeus, would have taken over him. He remained calm so he would not be blinded by the bond. There was no way to know if his mate was a woman who had done wrong or had been wronged. So, to find out that it was Karla had to be the greatest thing that had ever happened to him. He was so lost in his reverie that he forgot that his woman needed medical attention. Karla was disturbed by his silence. Had he not recognized her? Was he disappointed by how she turned out? Was he disgusted by her appearance? Or worse, was he going to reject her like his brother had? "Ace." She said again, but he simply stared at her still, his face void of any emotions. "It's me, Karla." Ace was so surprised by the turn of events that he thought that he was dreaming. He had to be. There was no way the moon goddess would be that generous to him, was there? So, he stood there and stared at her. It was her sound of hurt that brought him back to earth. He had not been dreaming! "Mate." He finally said gruffly, but the moment was lost on Karla, who could no longer hold on to her consciousness. She collapsed in a heap on the floor. That finally prompted him into action. He flung the door open and scooped her up in his arms. Without fail, he ran to the pack hospital and yelled for someone to get the pack doctor to come look at her. Sometime during his race to the hospital, she opened her eyes and smiled weakly before fainting again.THIRD PERSON'S POV The Tyana witches watched Anita go with a smirk. For someone with that amount of sheer power in her, she sure was gullible. They didn't even have to try too hard to convince her that they had given her the power she badly craved. Power that wasn't hers.As she was exhausted, it was very easy to put her in deep sleep, and then made her a potion to ease her pain. Combined with the adrenaline they pumped her with, she was a goner. When she woke up mere hours later, she was made to believe that she had been asleep for days."Can I join your coven? It would be a huge boost for you witches if I do." Was the first thing she said when she fully recovered. Not a thank you. Not a thank you for saving me, as she believed. The leader couldn't believe how large her ego was. She had never met a witch that was as cocky as this one in front of them."So?" She raised an indignant brow, as if they were wasting her time. It was unbelievable. She wouldn't have believed it if she wasn
KARLA'S POV My food became constant. I was eating twice a day every day. The ration was small, but it gave me the strength I needed to work on my spells and gather my strength to prepare for the war I was sure would be awaiting once I managed to break out of here. This morning, I had a surprise. When the guards that brought my food left, one of them came back and spoke to me."You're Karla." It was a statement, one that I didn't know how to respond to."Who's asking?" I was not a stranger in this pack, so it could be anyone I had come across in the pack before I left. The fact that he was masked wasn't helping matters."Alpha Ace sent me to you. He wants to know how you're doing.""I'm fine." I told him cautiously. I still couldn't trust this man or his intentions. For all I knew, he could be one of Anita's moles, sent to get into my head. She would stop at nothing. "How is he doing, too?""He's fine. I will relay your message to him." That was all he said, and he was gone. I watched
THIRD PERSON'S POV "You can't kick me out of the coven." She said and shakily got to her feet. She hurried forward to snatch the shiny ball from whoever had it, but she was in for a rude shock. The ground was swept from her feet, and she found herself with her face in the dirt. "Please." She whispered brokenly. "I have no one else but you." They were mothers, and they couldn't bear to see her looking so tired and dejected. It was like kicking a puppy. "Stand up." The leader told her, and she pretended to stand then fall again. She knew they had bought her fake act when three of them fell over themselves to help her up. How pathetic were they, she thought to herself. As long as they pitied her, she would continue to come out on top. That was how she had managed to beat Amaya at her game all those centuries ago. She tugged at her heartstring and showed her why you couldn't mix power and emotion together. The witches helped her into a warm room. Anita knew she couldn't leave now. She
THIRD PERSON'S POV Anita was in a bit of a bind. She had depleted her powers, and it would take her at least three days to get back in top shape. She had only one option: to take Karla's power for herself. However, that was not her problem. She had no qualms about taking her power for herself. It was the fact that she would have to be away for almost a week. That was if there were no complications, but if there was, it could take at least two weeks before everything was complete. She got up and went to her special box. In it was a shiny ball that she used to trap Karla. She stared at it with a malicious sneer. She wondered what would happen if she just smashed the ball into pieces. Before she could be tempted to do something stupid, she returned the ball and closed the box.The sharp pain in her abdomen reminded her why she hated Karla so much. When she got her powers back, the old witch warned her to be very careful when using her power."Your core is not as strong as you should be.
THIRD PERSON'S POV Anita watched Aiden with a calculating gaze. He had been a little bit guarded since the day before when he came to ask her what their end goal was. She wanted to get into his head to see what he was thinking, but she didn't have that power yet. This morning, she was in the mood to test just how deep her hold on him was. That would determine what she was going to do next. She could move faster with her plans or renew her spells on him. To test this theory of hers, she got dressed and went to the strategic meeting she knew he always had with his men in the morning. The guards at the door were hesitant. They were in a tight spot. The Alpha did tell them to do everything the lady wanted, but on the other hand, this was the strategic meeting. It was simply unheard of for a woman to be in the room where the top men in the pack were making decisions about the affairs of the pack. It was an unspoken rule: no women in the strategic room. Even if there was a woman warrior
KARLA'S POV Being served only water for three days didn't make me as weak as I thought, but still, I pretended it was having the intended effect on me. I wouldn't get off the floor when the guards brought the small plastic bottle of water for me. Why they needed two burly guards to bring me a cup of water was still beyond me.Aiden's visit was still fresh on my mind. I closed my eyes the minute I sensed that someone had opened my cell door, and when he turned me to face him, I genuinely thought he was Ace. Thankfully, that confusion didn't last at all. It was over in a few minutes, and I saw him for who he was. After I bluntly told him that I would rather die than take his hand, I thought he would slap me, but he merely reached up to caress a lock of my hair. He wound it across his finger. I braced myself for pain, fully expecting him to rip it clean from my skull, but again, he didn't. He released it and watched the curl bounce against my neck. He did it again."Does Anita know that
