Chapter 8

Ivy’s POV

He leaned in, so close I could feel the heat of his breath brushing against my cheek. His fingers reached for my clothes, and instinctively, I flinched…my body recoiling in fear before my mind could catch up.

“Don’t do this! Please!” I squeezed my eyes shut, my voice trembling like the rest of me. Panic bloomed in my chest, wild and loud. My heart pounded so hard it echoed in my ears.

But he didn’t stop.

Like some unhinged beast, he tugged at the hem of my top, determined to strip away my dignity.

“Vivian… We can’t let this happen.” My lips barely moved as I mumbled under my breath. “No way… I can’t bear the child of a beast.”

And then it hit me…I’d forgotten he could hear my thoughts.

His eyes darkened, and a crooked, dangerous smirk curled on his lips. “Beast?” His voice dropped, low and feral. “Hmmm… then I’ll show you exactly what kind of beast I am.”

Before I could retreat, his hand surged toward my chest.

But then…something inside me snapped.

A strange force exploded from deep within, throwing him back like a thunderclap. His body hit the far wall, but he stayed on his feet, shaking it off with an infuriating calm.

He chuckled, his voice laced with amused disbelief. “Wow… That was impressive. You hate me that much, huh? Enough to unlock a new power just to keep me away?”

His words dripped with sarcasm, but his eyes gleamed with something else…intrigue.

I turned to run, but he was faster.

In a blink, he was right in front of me again, his hand wrapping around my neck…not in aggression, but slowly… seductively. His thumb caressed the side of my throat, tracing the delicate line of my jaw. My breath hitched.

His touch was fire.

“You feel that?” he whispered, his voice brushing against my skin like velvet. “Your body doesn’t lie, Ivy. It wants me, even when your mouth says no.”

I was frozen, trapped in the pull of his heat, his voice, his presence. Everything about him screamed danger…yet my body burned under his fingertips.

Then, suddenly, he pulled back.

“Just leave,” he muttered, stepping away. “It’s too late. We’ll continue tomorrow.”

My eyes widened. Tomorrow?

He turned his back to me, stretching lazily as he pointed at the glowing chains etched across his chest. “You’re not going anywhere. You’ll stay here… until we figure out how to break these.”

He looked over his shoulder, his gaze heated and unapologetic. “And until then, I won’t stop. I’ll do everything to keep you”

I couldn’t move. My feet were rooted to the floor, my mind spinning.

He glanced down at my silence and raised a brow. “What? Are you open-minded now?” He smirked, reaching for the waistband of his shorts. “Want to get down with me after all?”

My breath caught in my throat as he took a slow step forward….pure sin carved into muscle and shadow.

I ran out as quickly as possible.

No one ever said the Lycan king was this… he's so weird. What the heck!

The moment the door slammed shut behind me, my legs nearly gave out.

“Ivy!”

The sudden voices made me flinch. A group of maids huddled near the hallway, wide-eyed and whispering furiously as they rushed toward me.

“What happened in there?” one asked breathlessly.

Before I could even blink, another grabbed my wrist and dragged me forward like they were rescuing me from something dark and twisted.

“Why were you in his room?” another gasped, her eyes darting down to my half-torn clothes. “And your shirt…what happened to you?”

“Did he… did he try to rape you?” someone whispered like she couldn’t bear to say it louder.

“No way,” another maid cut in quickly, shaking her head. “He’s not like that. Haven’t you heard the rumors? After his mate died in the hands of the demon… he changed. Like, really changed. They say he hasn’t touched a woman since.”

“Some say he can’t even look at one without breaking something.”

I just stood there, frozen, absorbing their words.

But… that’s not what just happened.

Not at all.

His hands were on me. His breath was on my skin. His voice, his body, his eyes….he wanted me. I felt it. That wasn't a man incapable of lust.

That was a beast craving fire.

What the hell is going on?

“Just be careful,” one of them said, her voice hushed with fear. “You don’t want to end up dead like the others.”

“Everyone, to your rooms! duties continues tomorrow!” Selena’s commanding voice cracked through the corridor like thunder, and the group instantly scattered.

She walked toward me, calm, poised, a smile curving on her lips. “Sorry for the stress, Ivy. I’m here if you need anything, alright? Just go rest. You’ll be fine.”

I gave a small nod, bowing politely, then turned and made my way to my room.

The bed felt cold even though I was burning up inside.

I turned left. Then right. Then back again.

Sleep wouldn’t come. My skin still remembered the ghost of his touch, the wild look in his eyes. I kept seeing the way his muscles moved under his shirt, the way he looked at me like I was prey.

“What’s really going on?” I whispered to myself, sitting up. “Why did he try to have sex with me?”

No answer. Only silence.

“Vivian?” I asked, hoping my inner wolf would speak back, give me something… anything. But she was quiet.

Maybe she was as confused as I was.

I flopped back on the bed again, groaning.

And then….he was there.

Right beside me.

His masked face loomed above mine. Those lips. Those eyes. That unreadable expression. Even with half his face hidden, I knew…he was sinfully beautiful.

Every line of his jaw, the curve of his lips, the fire burning behind his eyes… it was like staring at temptation itself.

Was he real?

I blinked.

He was gone.

My heart slammed against my ribs. “Am I going mad?” I said out loud, my hands flying to cover my face. “Why the hell am I thinking about him?”

I didn’t even know when sleep finally took me.

BANG! BANG!

The loud clanging of a bell echoed through my room.

“Ugh… I need more sleep,” I groaned, dragging the pillow over my head. But the sound kept going like a curse that wouldn’t leave.

“Arrgghh!” I growled, sitting up like an angry cat, hair sticking out in every direction.

And then…I saw him.

He was sitting in my room.

Like he owned it.

Legs crossed, one ankle resting on the opposite knee, reading a freaking newspaper. Relaxed. As if this was some casual morning routine.

His voice melted into the air. “Good morning. Slept well?”

I blinked again.

He was gone.

Not again.

Something’s wrong with me.

I stood and stormed into the bathroom, yanked the shower knob, and let the water cascade over me. Scrubbing my skin like I could erase the memory of him.

Then…his voice. Again.

“Nice body.”

I froze.

No. No. This is my imagination again.

I closed my eyes.

But when I opened them, he was still there.

Not a hallucination. Not a dream.

He was really standing in my bathroom. Black robes. Mask. Staring at my naked body like it was his personal playground.

“What the hell!” I gasped, spinning around, arms flying to cover myself. My whole body went hot and cold at once. “You…get out! I’ll call the police! I swear I’ll get you arrested!”

He chuckled, low and unbothered. “Try it,” he teased, folding his arms. “Go ahead”

I glanced to the counter. Too far.

“Just go!” I screamed, grabbing the nearest thing…soap…and flung it at his face. It hit. He blinked, but didn’t flinch.

While he wiped it off, I bolted to the towel, wrapped it around myself in seconds.

But before I could move, his arms were around me…strong and possessive…lifting me effortlessly and pressing me against the wall.

My towel loosened at the edge, slipping an inch.

His voice, hot and thick, poured into my ear.

“I’m here to do it,” he breathed.

His body pressed against mine, hard and demanding.

“With you.”

My breath stopped. My legs trembled. I bit my lip so hard it might bleed.

I couldn’t run. Couldn’t move.

And somewhere, deep inside that mess of fear and confusion… something darker, hotter, whispered back:

Maybe I want him too.
