-RAINA'S POV- As our math teacher completed writing an equation on the whiteboard for us to attempt solving, he turned and glanced at me, then at Venus. He blew out a hard breath as he placed the erasable black marker on the desk and then gave me a second plea with his green eyes, thinning his lips. I was his only option to deal with the distraught Alpha Female. Silence. When was our class ever this ghastly quiet? Venus’ devastating mood created a depressive beating cloud within the classroom that made it hard for everyone to concentrate underneath the hot atmosphere. -RAINA’S POV- Extremely aggrieved, a list of names sprang into my head from the anger that riled in me. Sadly, he was not here to get the lashing of my whipping tongue. What the hell! He was being a dick! Blind-sighted, I gazed down the corridor cussing. Hanging up on me for some other chick was unbecoming. How do I make him pay for that? The communication was futile. I got nowhere. What's the point in telling Venus about it? Geez, I called Valen but he wouldn't talk about Vaheed. - -RAINA’S POV- From the mezzanine, Azara beckoned, "Your uncle's coming for Venus." After looking up at her, my eyes switched to the parking lot, and I did not see Uncle Duke's car driving up. As Beta, he ran the pack in the absence of Alpha King Vance. Faster than a bullet, I dashed up the stairs to help Azara with Venus. When I saw her at the same desk by the classroom window, she had gone limp and semi-conscious. Azara cocked her brows high, and lowly stated, “You look like shit.” Dismissing her, I fanned my hand and focused on Venus. I was well cognizant of how messy I must look in comparison to my orderly image, but I did not get the time to fix my appearance with everything happening this swiftly. Our classmates whispered and buzzed with murmurs. Werewolves do not get sick unless poisoned with components of silver and wolfsbane. High-ranked wolves had better tolerant levels than those lower. Therefore, it unnerved everyone to witness this happening to the Alpha Princess.

-RAINA'S POV- Furiously speeding through the not-so-busy town at 100 mph, I tailed the female biker, passing several skyscraper buildings through the town. The prey used the idling traffic on the stretch to her advantage, zipping in between vehicles. As challenging as she was trying to make it when she disappeared in front of a slow-moving green garbage truck, my determination soared with a satisfied look at the gas tank being half-full. You are not getting away, I thought to myself as I slowed down to 70 mph. You messed with the wrong she-wolf. Turning the steering wheel to the right, I changed lanes, then to the left and back again to overtake the garbage truck and picked up speed. Jamming my horn with the heel of my palm, I tooted for the two sluggish vehicles in front to clear the way for my crazy fast driving. -VALEN’S POV- My mind’s been stuck on Raina all day today, so I went for a run despite the wax-melting sun. Through the bond, I knew that she wasn’t alright. Yet, I cannot bring myself to go near her. It was not neglect when there was good reason to stay away. Without a doubt, she’d be mad. I expected to get a full dose of her flogging tongue when I saw her next time. I’ll deal with that when the time comes. The sanity I had was dwindling because of this shitty situation. It was radically breaking me down. After the ritual, I did not mean to leave her without a word. - - -RAINA’S POV- “You don’t get to die today.” At some point before the collision with the truck, a hand smashed the window, grabbed the collar of my green blouse, and vehemently yanked me from the car. I flipped in the air in an icy paralysis. The piercing sound of the calamitous explosion rendered my ears deaf with a sharp ringing. Glass shards like bullets sprinkling the air glittered maliciously from the glare of the sun. The resplendent sky graced my sight for a split second before the lush green tree tops and then collided with the solid brown dirty ground. Thud. As hot metal and splinters rained all about me, the smell of burning rubber and gasoline burned my nose. The tanker truck jackknifed and exploded. “Oof!” I swore I broke a rib. Blood trickled down my forehead, warm and sticky. I stared at the mangled wreck that had once been good vehicles and a dreadful lump developed in my throat.
