BRITTANY'S POV

"Drive faster, Wade."

I'm praying hard while we're on our way to Selena. I keep on telling myself that nothing bad will happen to her, nothing. She'll be safe while waiting for us.

Wade tried to overtake from the cars in front of us. We both became annoyed when the red light appeared in the traffic lights. This shit, we need to get there faster, we don't know what things can Jacob do to Selena.

"Jaxon is here already," Haru said when we saw men that are lying on the ground unconscious. I'm a bit amazed on how Jaxon did this all by himself, he's an ace.

We followed Haxilla when she suddenly run at the warehouse. We saw that Jacob hitting Jaxon at the other side, while Selena almost lost her voice because of her screaming. I immediately run to her while our other friends trying to stop the men of Jacob.

"Get away of here with Jaxon," I said to her while trying to cut the surrounding chains.

She successfully run to Jaxon. I almost bump my head at the wall when someone threw me there, a man is standing at my front and about to hit me using a baseball bat. He screamed and fell down when I hit his center using the large chains that I'm holding.

"That's funny, hon." Wade joked while helping me to stand up.

My eyes widened when Jacob pulled the trigger of his gun and point it to Jaxon and Selena.

"Selena!"

I felt that my soul left my body when the bullet hit at Selena's back. Everyone panicked, except to me and Haxilla that only stared to Selena's blood flowing from her body.

My mind is so clouded that I didn't know that we're already at the hospital. Wade hugged me tightly, caressing the back of my head.

HARU'S POV

It's already been ten hours since Selena entered the operating room, we're all praying in silence that both of them can survive. Jacob is already at the custody of the police and being investigated now in layers of crime that he committed. Jaxon is still in the ICU because of what Jacob did to him, everyone is in pain and no one dares to talk because of shock.

Haxilla is on my side, sleeping at his husband's shoulder while waiting for the doctor to come out after the operation. Wade is with Britanny to take care of her, she's the weakest among of us, and she's the one who is more affected to what happened now.

We all stand up when the doctor get out of the operating room, by looking on his face, there's an enough reason to feel this nervous and fear.

"How's the operation, Doc?" I asked.

He sighed and looked each one of us, "There's a bad and good news. The good one is, we did save the mother," he paused for a moment, my heart can't stop on beating hard, "But, the baby can't make it. He was the one who received the bullet for her mother, it directly hits his heart, causing it to stop on beating. I'm sorry."

"Oh God," Haxilla exclaimed and cried. I sat down quietly while trying to sink in all the things that happened today. This will cause the worst trauma to Selena, we don't even know if she can accept this all, again.

Raven put a cup of coffee on my front. After we heard the news about Selena, he calmed down his wife first and let her rest. We're just quiet while watching all the people that passing by at the cafeteria.

"You should be strong in front of Selena when she wakes up," Raven started. I just looked at him, he didn't cry or anything after what happened, like it didn't affect him.

"Until when you can be strong like that?" I asked that him puzzeled, after a moment, he nods his head and leaned.

"Until everyone can get back to their normal selves." He looked away from me, "Selena has nothing left except for us. This is the time that you can prove yourself to her."

I shook my head, "Jaxon will do everything just to get her back."

"And you think Selena wants the same?" he asked that made me to look at him, "She loved him, but not to the point that she will sacrifice herself again. Maxine is still waiting for Jaxon at the other country."

"What if Jaxon chose to stay here for good and—"

"He can't do that. Maxine's family is more powerful now than you think, in just a snap, she can turn the world upside down." He said. How can he even know about this?

JAXON'S POV

"Where's Selena? How is she?" I asked immediately when I woke up at the hospital room.

"She's still in the ICU."

I felt relieved that she made it. They told me that she was the one who protected me from bullet, she's also undergone a ten hours operation. It's really complicated since she's pregnant.

"But," Haxilla suddenly said, all of us looked at her except for Haru and Raven, "The baby is dead."

"What?!" Britanny shouted in shock. I'm just staring at her while wishing at the back of my head that she's just pranking us.

She bowed her head, indicating that she's telling the truth. My chest tightened, blaming myself from what happened. If it's not because of my parents, everything will be perfect.

The whole room covered in silence and crying, it's too much for Selena.

SELENA'S POV 

"What are you doing here?" I asked when Jaxon entered my room.

It's been a week since I woke up and knew everything that happened, I know I lost my baby while trying to save his father. Jaxon sat at the chair beside me and holds my hand.

"I'm sorry. I know it's not enough to ease all the pain that I've caused to you, but I'm really sorry."

How many times do I need to hear that word? Ever since I opened my eyes, that's the only word they told me like it'll bring back the precious life of my baby. They're sorry, but they keep on doing the same mistakes, does it make sense?

I get the divorce papers and pen, he looked puzzled when I throw the envelope to him.

He shook his head while reading what it says, "N-no, I don't want this—"

"You're going to marry Maxine any moment now, and it's not good to get married while you're still married to an other woman by papers. Let's just accept the consequences that we made, we can't do anything about it."

He's just looking at me, his eyes are asking for another chance, but everything ends here for us.

"But, I still love you—"

"And it's not a valid reason to escape her. You already have responsibilities to her that you can't run off anytime you want."

He signed the paper against his will. I felt a thorn removed from my heart while watching him doing it, it's not that I don't want him, but there's another family that is waiting for him.

"Thank you." I said when he gives back the papers, "The attorney will back for this to process it already," I noticed our engagement and wedding ring on my finger, his lips parted when I put it on his palm, "Keep it or throw it, it's your choice. Be a responsible and good father to your child, Jaxon."

"Selena, are you sure about this?"

I nod, "Yes, you may get out of here now."

I motioned my hand to the door, he stared at me for a minute before he stood up and shut the door when he walked out. My tears suddenly fell like a river while staring at the door.

This is not the best decision that I've made, but it's not also the worst. I just don't want their family will be ruined just because of me.

We met and also end by tragedy.

That's how the destiny played with us, it's a huge mess game,  but I learned many lessons while playing this game.
