I stood like the exact definition of a dumb blonde staring unblinkingly at Cain Cadell as he threatened the one person I wanted to keep safe.

I had so many questions; plenty of snarky remarks and retorts that could have sufficed. But I knew better than to poke the bear. Or for the sake of the context, the wolf.

"I'll give you a day, two at most, and you better tell me your choice." With that he strode out of the room, leaving his threat hanging in the air.

It didn't make sense that he knew what Morgana had done, much less that he believed I was his mate.

How did that happen? Do the Gods hate me enough to pair me with a werewolf? It's like there was a universal conspiracy to make my life a living hell.

I know all too well what it means to be a werewolf mate. I have read about it several times. A bond that is unbreakable once initiated, and very unshakable.

In theory, it sounded nice. If between two werewolves, then it is nice. But I'm not a wolf, I'm a witch. H
