"Sir, should we head straight to the mansion?" Sean asked as he glanced at Damien through the rearview mirror. Damien remained silent for a moment, staring out at the city lights rushing past the tinted windows. "Have you confirmed it?" he asked finally. "Not yet, sir. But we should have the final report by tomorrow morning," Sean replied. Damien tapped his fingers lightly against the armrest. "I want to check on him." Sean nodded immediately. "Very well, sir. We'll head to his apartment. According to our people, he didn't go to work today after his classes." "Hmm." The rest of the journey passed in silence. By the time they arrived near Aiden's apartment building, the sky had already darkened. Street lamps cast long shadows across the pavement, and the evening air carried the distant sounds of traffic and laughter from nearby restaurants. Damien's gaze shifted toward the entrance of the apartment complex. Then he saw them. Aiden and Justin were walking slowly toward the building. Or rather, Justin was walking. Aiden was practically hanging off him. "Justin..." Aiden slurred, attempting to free himself. "Can you let me drive?" Justin nearly dropped him. "Drive what? The pavement?" he snapped. "Thank goodness we took a taxi. Otherwise, we'd still be wandering around downtown while you tried to argue with every streetlight in Monaco." Aiden burst into drunken laughter. "I wasn't arguing..." "You challenged a traffic sign to a staring contest." "It started it." Inside the car, Sean remained expressionless. Damien did not. For the first time that evening, something resembling amusement flickered across his face. As they approached the gate, Justin suddenly noticed the black sedan parked quietly outside. He froze. "Aiden..." he whispered. "Hmmm?" "Do you know that car?" Aiden squinted at it through half-closed eyes. "What car?" "That one!" Aiden stared for several seconds before breaking into another drunken smile. "Ohhh... that car." "Yes. That car." "It belongs to the neighbors." Justin blinked. "You don't even know our neighbors." "Exactly," Aiden replied proudly. Justin suddenly regretted every life choice that had brought him to this moment. Still supporting his friend, he cautiously approached the gate. Just as they reached it, the rear door of the sedan opened. A tall figure stepped out. Justin's soul briefly attempted to leave his body. "Oh my God," he whispered. "This is definitely a kidnapping." The man adjusted his suit jacket. "You must be Justin." Justin stared. "Well... I'm not obligated to answer that." The man nodded politely. "Fair enough." An awkward silence followed. "...Okay, yes," Justin admitted. "I am Justin. How can I help you?" The man inclined his head. "My name is Sean." Something about the name felt familiar, but Justin couldn't place it. Sean walked toward the driver's side door, then stopped and turned back. "You may go inside." Justin frowned. That was it? No kidnapping? No weapons? No ransom? "That's... weird," he muttered. Sean gave a small smile. "Please tell Aiden to answer his phone from now on." Before Justin could ask another question, Sean returned to the vehicle. The black sedan pulled away slowly into the night. Justin stared after it. "I've had enough strange people for one day." --- Earlier That Evening "Did you check the group chat?" Justin asked while stuffing books into his backpack. Aiden didn't even look up. "No. Why?" "The seniors are hosting a gathering tonight." "I'm not going." "Please." "No." "Please." "No." "Please." "I don't want to." "Great. Thanks." Justin grabbed his bag and headed for the door. "Hey!" Aiden shouted, running after him. "I didn't agree to anything!" --- The party had actually been fun. There was food, music, games, and enough laughter to make Aiden temporarily forget everything that had happened over the past month. For a few hours, there were no kidnappings. No Smith family. No Damien. Just university life. Then the room suddenly erupted. "Oh my God!" "It's Charlie!" "Charlie Smith is here!" A group of girls nearly dropped their drinks. Justin looked confused. Aiden looked terrified. Before either of them could react, Charlie spotted them. He smiled. And started walking toward them. "Aiden!" Charlie called cheerfully. "Brother-in-law! How long has it been?" He patted Aiden on the shoulder. Aiden nearly choked on his drink. Justin, meanwhile, had forgotten how breathing worked. "Hi," he managed weakly. Charlie turned and smiled politely. "Justin, right? Nice to see you again." Justin nodded. Then nodded again. Then accidentally nodded a third time. After chatting for several minutes, Charlie excused himself and joined a group of senior students. The moment he was gone, Aiden slowly turned toward Justin. "Hmmm." "What?" Justin asked defensively. "I know you like older people." "I do not." "But Charlie?" "I do not." "The way you were staring—" "I was not staring." "You stopped blinking." Justin looked horrified. "I did?" "For almost twenty seconds." Justin covered his face. "Oh my God." Aiden laughed. "Relax. It's not like I don't understand your taste." Justin lowered his hands. "Excuse me? Says the person hanging around billionaire CEOs." "That's different." "Is it?" "...Shut up." Justin grinned triumphantly. "I need to use the restroom." He stood up and headed toward the hallway. Aiden watched him disappear into the crowd. For some reason, he suddenly remembered Damien. The memory irritated him. He grabbed another drink. Maybe one more wouldn't hurt. He was very, very wrong. The silence in the study felt heavier than the argument itself."No," Aiden repeated, his voice steadier this time despite the storm raging inside him. "I'm not staying here."Justin immediately rose from his seat as though he had been waiting for the opportunity."Me too," he announced. "We appreciate the hospitality and all, but we're university students, not witnesses under protective custody."Charlie rubbed a hand over his face."Nobody said you're prisoners.""Then why did he say it wasn't a request?" Justin asked, pointing directly at Damien. No one answered.Aiden couldn't take his eyes off Damien. For the first time since Tokyo, since the kidnapping, since waking up in a hospital bed believing he was going to die, he wasn't looking at the man who had saved him. He was looking at someone he wasn't sure he knew anymore."You knew," Aiden said quietly.Damien's expression remained unreadable."Knew what?""That I was important to your company."A silence fell over the room so qu
Sorry for the slight delay! University classes have been keeping me busy, but I didn't want to rush this chapter. Thank you for reading and supporting the story!"
Lunch lasted much longer than anyone expected.By the end of it, Justin had eaten enough food to sustain himself for an entire week and had somehow managed to insult Charlie's family wealth at least six different times."I'm serious," Justin said, pointing his fork at Charlie. "Nobody needs this many desserts."Charlie leaned back in his chair. "And yet you ate three.""That is not the point.""It feels like the point."Aiden laughed into his glass. For a brief moment, everything felt strangely normal.Mrs Kate began clearing the table while Sean excused himself to return to the company headquarters with the documents Damien had requested."So," Charlie said, turning toward Justin with a suspicious smile, "would you like a tour?"Justin narrowed his eyes. "Why?""Because this mansion is beautiful.""It belongs to Damien."Charlie pressed a hand dramatically against his chest. "Again with the emotional damage."Aiden burst out laughing."Go," he told Justin. "Otherwise, he'll complain
Justin had exactly thirty-seven minutes to regret agreeing to Charlie's invitation. The moment the sleek black luxury sedan pulled up outside his apartment building, he had considered pretending he wasn't home. Unfortunately, the driver had stepped out, bowed politely, and addressed him by his full name. There was no escaping after that. Now seated in the back of a car that probably cost more than his future career earnings combined, Justin stared out the tinted window as Monaco's busy streets slowly gave way to quieter roads and increasingly ridiculous properties."This is insane," he muttered for what was probably the fifth time. The driver, maintaining perfect professional silence, didn't respond.Justin sighed dramatically and leaned back against the leather seat."Maybe they're taking me somewhere to harvest my organs."Still no response."Fair enough," he muttered. "I wouldn't answer that either."The car continued down a private road lined with trees that somehow looked expensive
Aiden woke up to the sound of someone speaking. Not immediately. First came the darkness. Then the panic. Then the slow, painful return of reality. His chest rose and fell rapidly as he stared at the unfamiliar ceiling above him. For a brief, terrifying second, he didn't know where he was. His body felt heavy, his head clouded with fragments of a nightmare he couldn't fully remember.No. Not a nightmare. A memory."You're awake." The voice pulled him back completely.Aiden turned his head. Damien was sitting beside the bed, still dressed in yesterday's clothes. His sleeves were rolled up, and there were dark circles beneath his eyes that Aiden had never noticed before. For a moment, neither of them spoke.Aiden blinked several times."W-what happened?" he asked quietly.Damien leaned back in the chair."You don't remember?"Aiden frowned. The party. The drinking. The phone call. His eyes widened."Oh my God."He sat upright too quickly and immediately regretted it as his head began to
“Mom, please… I’m sorry.”Aiden’s voice cracked, thin and trembling beneath his own ragged breathing. Tears blurred his vision as they slipped down his bruised cheeks. Blood trickled slowly from the cut near his forehead. The room smelled of iron.He curled tighter against the floor, arms wrapped around himself as if he could shrink small enough to disappear.“Please,” he whispered.“Don’t call me that.”The woman standing over him stared down with open disgust.“I am not the mother of something like you.”Her words cut deeper than the slap. Aiden lowered his head at once, shoulders shaking as he fought to swallow his sobs. He had learned long ago that crying too loudly only made things worse.“Mommy, stop!”Small feet rushed forward. Finn’s tiny hands grabbed their mother’s arm, tears streaming down his round face.“Brother said sorry!”The anger on her face vanished the moment she looked at him. Her voice softened instantly, sweet and practiced.“Sweetheart, don’t cry. Mommy’s not an
A few minutes ago, while the ballroom was still a blur of motion and music, Mike had leaned against the stone balcony, a cold, calculated look in his eyes. He whispered into a small earpiece, "He’s left my side. He went out for some fresh air—this is our window. Make sure the room is ready." He s
"Why am I even at this party full of high-class citizens? It's not like we had… sex more than once," I murmured to myself, leaning against a pillar in the corner of the grand ballroom. The words felt bitter on my tongue. I was just a student from a café, a temporary distraction in a world of silk
Sean had known the moment he heard Jessica’s sharp, entitled voice over the phone that the evening’s peace was over. He had stood at the edge of the dining hall for several minutes, watching the silhouette of Damien and Aiden through the glass. He had seen something he hadn't seen in years: Damie
It was exactly 5 p.m. when the designated driver arrived at the mansion. Aiden lingered at the door for a moment, feeling a strange mix of nerves and anticipation, before finally sliding into the plush leather interior of the car. "Sir, we will be heading to the restaurant. Master Damien has reser
