Difficult Choice

Two men and women sat opposite each other, there was only a medium-sized round table in the middle and there was some distance between them. A woman seems to be talking with emotion, while the man seems to be lowering his head.

"That's not my baby! You have many men, it must be the child of another man!" snapped Ed Shane as he pounded the table in front of him.

Hearing Ed Shane's answer, Ivy lowered her head. She was very surprised, did not expect if Ed Shane's response would be like this.

In her lowered face, Ivy tried to hold back her tears from spilling out. She must still look strong to maintain her dignity.

Before Ivy could speak, when she looked up, she saw Ed Shane walking away.

Seeing this, Ivy could only be silent. Then she took out her cell phone and turned it on. She felt so desperate and wanted to tell all the secrets she was hiding.

Ed Shane walked quickly away from Ivy. The man felt very confused this time. What if what Ivy said was true? What if Ivy did get pregnant because of him? Not! It's impossible!

Ed Shane returned to the kitchen, he wanted to distract himself by seeing his employees doing their job properly.

A woman seems to be in a hurry to walk with a cell phone in her hand. She drew closer to Ed Shane, as if she had something to say.

"Mr. Ed, I'm sorry, it's a call from Mr. Gladwin." The woman said in a low voice.

"What's with him?!" asked Ed Shane in a surprised tone of voice.

The woman in charge of the cashier at Shane Restaurant shook her head, then said, "I don't know, Mr. Ed. You can ask him directly, he's looking for you."

Ed Shane nodded his head, he received a cell phone that was connected to a voice call from Gladwin Hamilton. It seemed there was something important about his little family. Ed Shane decided to go into his office.

"Hello, what's up, Dad?" asked Ed Shane as the phone pressed to one ear.

"Li--Lilyana, th-she's in the hospital right now." Gladwin said, his voice breaking.

"What?!! Alright, I'll be right there, send me the address," said Ed Shane said immediately.

How surprised Ed Shane was when he found out that his beloved wife had to be taken to the hospital. I don't know what happened at home, but now Ed Shane wanted to meet his wife first.

"I sent it." Gladwin said, the man's voice still shaking.

"Okay, I'll try to get there in fifteen minutes," said Ed Shane who then cut off the voice call from Gladwin Hamilton-her father-in-law.

Hurriedly, Ed Shane put on his jacket and prepared to go to the hospital. In his hands now there are two cellphones, a personal cellphone and a work cellphone.

Ed Shane stepped so quickly out of the room and walked towards the cash register. His work cell phone was again given to the woman who served as the cashier, while she only brought his personal cell phone.

"I have to go now," said Ed Shane, he said quickly.

"All right, Mr Ed. May I know where you are going?" She asked.

"Just tell me I'm not around if someone is looking for me," said Ed Shane, answering the cashier's question as he walked away.

Ed Shane's footsteps continued to go fast, even occasionally he would bump into his own visitors.

"Sorry, I was in a hurry." That's what Ed Shane said when he bumped into someone.

As Ed Shane had said to Gladwin on a voice call, fifteen minutes later Ed Shane was on the front lawn of the hospital.

The man parked his vehicle and immediately walked into the hospital building which was quite large. Ed Shane's eyes darted left and right, looking for Gladwin Hamilton.

A man in his fifties waved his hand to the crowds of people passing by around him. Luckily Ed Shane could see where his father-in-law was and Gladwin saw his son-in-law as well.

The hospital that afternoon was very crowded, many people were passing by and even some patients did not get a room.

"What's wrong with Lily, Dad?" asked Ed Shane after seeing his father-in-law.

"I don't know, she--she was bleeding in the shower." Gladwin said, explaining what he had seen.

Now there is not only Gladwin waiting for Lilyana to finish being treated by the doctor, but also Ed Shane. The two men sat on the waiting bench at the front of the room.

Unceasingly Ed Shane and Gladwin continue to pray for the safety of Lilyana and her baby in they heart. Neither Gladwin nor Ed Shane wanted to lose Lilyana or the baby in her womb.

The sound of the door opening. The two men sitting on the waiting bench immediately got up when they saw a nurse coming out of the room where Lilyana was being treated by the doctor.

"What happened to my wife, Sister?" asked Ed Shane immediately.

The female nurse raised her hands in an open position at chest level. She also shook her head.

"We haven't finished checking, you just have to wait," said the nurse as she walked away.

This time Ed Shane shed tears, he felt so guilty for betraying his wife. He regretted everything he had done.

While Gladwin seemed to calm his daughter-in-law. Gladwin thought that Ed Shane felt sad because of his wife's uncertain condition in a closed room.

Several people attended a funeral, most of them wore black clothes to signify that they were mourning and mourning.

No one smiled, they all looked sad. Some have mourned this moment, they will also be like that in the future.

Gladwin continued to comfort her daughter who was constantly crying. Lilyana still doesn't think that her happiness will only last for seven months.

She had to lose a baby she was very much looking forward to. A baby who will be her friend for life, but now has to go first.

"God loves him more, Lily." Gladwin said in a whisper in her daughter's ear.

Gladwin's eyes looked at the small cemetery where a baby was buried. He did not survive in his struggle to stay alive in the world.

Some people started to move from their place, they left the cemetery leaving Gladwin, Lilyana and Ed Shane alone.

In the midst of her sobs, Lilyana turned to Ed Shane. Her gaze was so sharp looking at the man. Nothing but everything that happened this time was his doing.

"Edward, you calm down there, my baby boy."
