Charlene found herself seated inside a restaurant that was clearly far beyond anything she had ever known. Crystal chandeliers glittered on the ceiling, while the soft sound of a piano floated gently through the air, filling the elegant space with quiet luxury. She couldn’t hide her awe—and she couldn’t stop herself from comparing her simple clothes to the glamorous outfits worn by everyone else around her.

“Breathe, girl,” Black teased with a smile.

Charlene glanced at him shyly. “It’s my first time in a place this fancy. Sorry,” she said softly.

“No need to apologize. Just order whatever you want. It’s on me,” Black replied, giving her a playful wink. Charlene smiled, her heart suddenly beating faster. She never imagined she would be sitting in a place like this—especially with someone she admired so much. For a moment, she felt like the luckiest woman alive.

“May I take your order, ma’am?” the waitress asked, handing her a menu.

Charlene froze. The long, complicated names of the dishes made her dizzy. After a second, she quietly returned the menu. “Just water, please.”

“Are you sure, ma’am?” the waitress asked politely.

“Her order will be the same as mine,” Black cut in. The waitress nodded and walked away.

“Why didn’t you order?” Black asked.

Charlene lowered her gaze. “I don’t understand the names of the food here,” she admitted. Black and Lander laughed lightly.

“I see…” Black said with a grin.

A few minutes later, their meals arrived. Charlene stared at the plate in front of her, wide-eyed, as if she couldn’t believe what she was seeing.

“Is there a problem with your food, ma’am?” the waitress asked.

“May I ask something?” Charlene said. When the waitress nodded, she added, “Did you run out of ingredients? Why is there so little food on the plate?”

The waitress smiled politely. “That’s a special dish, ma’am.”

“How much is this?” Charlene asked, eyeing the tiny portion.

“Two thousand pesos each.”

“Two thousand?!” Charlene nearly jumped out of her seat. “This is just rice with three pieces of pork! That’s so expensive! Back home, this wouldn’t even be one full bite!”

“Hey, hey, calm down,” Black quickly said, trying not to laugh. “I suddenly lost my appetite too. I might not even be able to pay.”

“Charlene, it’s okay,” Lander said gently, holding her hand to calm her. By now, people in the restaurant were already staring.

“It’s just so expensive… two thousand pesos could buy sardines for a whole month,” Charlene muttered. “Let’s just leave.”

Lander sighed softly. “It’s fine, Charlene. My brother can afford it.”

“You won’t make me pay, right? I don’t have money,” Charlene asked anxiously.

“No. It’s free. Go ahead and eat.”

Slowly, Charlene began eating, still feeling embarrassed. When she finished, a man approached their table.

“Oh, he’s here,” Lander said.

Both Charlene and Black looked up as Lander waved. The man walked straight toward them.

Charlene froze when she recognized him.

“You,” she muttered, staring at Kerill. “You’re here?”

“Yes. Me again,” Kerill replied calmly as he took the empty seat across from her.

“How did you even get here?” Charlene snapped.

“Maybe by car,” Kerill answered sarcastically, making Black and Lander chuckle.

“Annoying,” Charlene muttered. Kerill heard her.

“Anyway, why are you with my brothers?” Kerill asked.

Charlene turned to Black and Lander. “You’re brothers?”

“That’s what I said earlier,” Lander replied with a grin.

Charlene closed her eyes in frustration. “What do you really want from me? Why do you keep bothering me?”

Kerill leaned back. “Actually, it’s the other way around. You need me.”

“I don’t need you,” Charlene shot back.

“Don’t you need a place to stay? Clothes? Food? Money?” Kerill asked coldly.

She had no answer.

“Relax, bro,” Black said. “Let me talk to her.” He gently guided Charlene toward the back of the restaurant.

Outside, Charlene turned to him. “What’s his problem? Why is he acting like that?”

Black sighed. “Charlene… Kerill needs your help. Urgently.”

“What?” she asked, confused.

“He wants you to sign a contract because he needs to win back custody of his children.”

Charlene froze.

“He needs someone to act as their mother for a few months until he gets them back,” Black continued. “And he needs you.”

Tall. Fair-skinned. Wearing the same senior high uniform as Ericka. At first, I thought they were just talking. Third Person POVIt was early morning, and Charlene was already in the kitchen preparing breakfast for everyone. She moved around with a bright smile on her face, humming softly as she cooked. The housemaids couldn’t help but notice.“Oy… something must’ve happened last night.”“Naku, Ma’am’s in love.”“Ma’am, what did Sir do? Your smile is glowing today!”Charlene turned to them, trying to look innocent. “What are you talking about? I’m just in a good mood because the weather’s nice.”None of them looked convinced. After finishing the dishes, she realized Kerill hadn’t come downstairs yet. She glanced at the wall clock and frowned. By this time, he was usually already brewing his morning coffee. But today—nothing.“Maybe he just overslept, Ma’am,” one of the maids teased as she passed by.Still, Charlene couldn’t shake off her uneasiness. She decided to check on him herself. She knocked on his bedroom door. No answer. No movement.“I’m coming in,” she said before turning the knob.In

Charlene’s POVWhen he said he would cook, he actually did.The moment we got home, he went straight to the kitchen and started preparing ingredients like it was second nature. I stood there, stunned. Not only could Kerill cook—he handled the knife like a professional chef. Clean cuts. Precise movements. Confident.“When did you learn to cook?” I asked, unable to stop myself as he sliced through the meat.“Not when,” he corrected calmly. “Why. Because I had to. I grew up with only maids around me, and I didn’t like their cooking. My mom wasn’t there… so I learned on my own. To survive.”I fell silent.Until now, I still wondered why his mother wasn’t around. What happened? Did she die? Did she leave for another man?“She has her own family now,” he said suddenly.I blinked. Was he reading my mind? Before I could respond, I noticed the maids gathered by the kitchen door, grinning from ear to ear as they watched us.“Yes?” I asked. They giggled.“Nothing, Ma’am Charlene. The car was wrapped in silence as they headed home from the office. Kerill sat in the backseat, eyes closed—but Saviel could tell he wasn’t asleep. His posture was rigid, his presence heavy. Up front, Saviel drove without a word.Saviel was used to his boss’s quiet nature. But this was different. The silence these past few days felt heavier than usual—dense, burdened with thoughts Kerill refused to voice.“Boss,” Saviel finally said, eyes still on the road.No response. Kerill only stared out the window, his expression unreadable.“If you’re having trouble with Ma’am, thinking about it alone won’t fix anything.”Kerill turned slightly. “Since when did you start giving advice?” he asked coolly.“Since I noticed you’ve been spacing out a lot. No offense, Boss.”Kerill didn’t reply. Saviel sighed. “I’m not an expert with women. But maybe… try doing some research?”“Tsk. Nonsense,” Kerill muttered. “I’m thinking about business. Nothing else.”“We?”Kerill shot him an irritated look. “Can

Third Person POVToday, Kerill had a meeting with the company’s new investors. It was one of the most important presentations of the year, with the expansion of their new product line riding on it. They were discussing projected sales, target consumers, and the estimated profits for the year.He sat at the far end of the long conference table, back straight, face serious, as Hart went through the proposed adjustments to the product designs, particularly the children’s wear line.To everyone else, he appeared calm and in control. But in truth, his mind wasn’t there at all. From time to time, he glanced at his wristwatch. For some reason, the minutes felt slower than usual. Each tick seemed to stretch. His thoughts wandered to Charlene. Had Black picked her up again? Were they together right now? Where had they gone?He shouldn’t be thinking about it.He had no right to.And yet, every time the image of her with another man entered his mind, a strange tension gripped his chest. It wasn’

It was Sunday. Kerill had no work, and the children had no classes, which meant Charlene was busier than usual taking care of everyone.Kerill woke up close to noon. The first thing his eyes searched for was Charlene—but she was nowhere to be found in any corner of the house.“Where the hell is she?” he muttered, irritation creeping in. An unwanted thought crossed his mind—that she might be with his brother.“Wait… why am I even looking for that woman?” he scoffed.Yet his feet betrayed him, leading him straight to Charlene’s bedroom. He frowned at himself for being there, but he entered anyway. Charlene wasn’t inside, though a fresh set of clothes lay neatly on the bed. The sound of running water echoed from the bathroom. He was about to leave when her phone suddenly rang on the bed. Curiosity got the better of him.
