“What's going on?" I asked Catherine, who had just left me and gone to the pack house.

"It is nothing; I only need to teach you something," she said, leaving me to ponder what it was.

“So soon, I mean, couldn't it wait? You practically yanked me away from playing with the kids."

"What is more essential, playing or your life?" she asked, putting some items into the fire to make it grow.

“OK, what is going on?" I inquired since I could not grasp what she was hinting at.

"Witches have discovered your existence, and I need to teach you how to harness your powers before it is too late since neither they nor I will be rescued when the time comes," Catherine explained.

“What time? And why would anyone want me?" I responded.
