CHAPTER 24

RUBY’S POV

The drive to meet Dax was very quiet and Simon didn't exchange a word with me. I assumed he was going to after seeing him converse with Clarissa but I guessed that wasn't the case for me.

Clarissa was obviously an exception and just as I suspected right from the start, they both had a thing for each other and were trying to suppress it but I knew it would do them no good. Life was too short to waste it on keeping your feelings to yourself.

We finally arrived at our destination and I got out of the car before Simon could come over to open the door for me.

Then I saw Dax waiting for me at the entrance of the building and our eyes met.

“I'll take you over to meet him, Miss. Ruby” Simon said politely and I broke eye contact with Dax to look at him and smiled.

“Of course, thanks” I replied and together, still in silence, we walked toward Dax and he held his hand out for me when we met up with him.

“Are you excited?” he asked and I huffed in response before walking past
