At eight in the morning, Rebecca—still living in Ellya’s body—sat silently on the sofa, absentmindedly playing with her phone. Her eyes were blank, her mind drifting to many things, especially about Samuel, who had been acting cold lately.

Meanwhile, elsewhere, Aric had just been discharged from the hospital. His condition was improving, though he still looked a little weak. He sat in the living room of his apartment, staring at his phone screen with a faint smile.

“It’s time I talk to Ellya properly,” he murmured, then began typing a message.

[Ellya, if you’re not busy, come to the apartment. I’d like to talk for a bit.]

A few minutes later, a reply came.

[Sorry, Aric. I can’t today. I have a college assignment I need to finish.]

Aric read the message and nodded slightly. He didn’t suspect anything. “Well, at least she still replies to my messages,” he said with a small smile. Then he typed another message.

[Alright then. Don’t overwork yourself, okay? Let me know once you’re done wi

Eight o’clock in the evening. Rebecca — now living under the name Ellya — sat on the sofa, staring at her laptop screen while typing her college assignment. Her phone chimed softly. Rebecca turned her head and saw Aric’s name appear on the screen. She sighed before answering the call.“Hello, Aric.”Aric’s cheerful voice came from the other end. “Hi, Ellya. Sorry to bother you this late. I just wanted to talk a bit about the engagement party.”Rebecca frowned instantly. “Engagement party?”“Yes, Ellya,” Aric replied casually, as if it wasn’t a big deal. “I’ve already started preparing it. But I wanted to hear your opinion.”Rebecca was silent for a few seconds, trying to keep her voice steady. “Aric, I’m sorry but I…”“But what?”“I really can’t. I have a lot of assignments and my final project. I don’t want to talk about anything else right now.”On the other end, Aric let out a long sigh. “Alright, if that’s your reason. I won’t push you. Well, I just hope you’ll like the concept I’

At the Wilson Group office, Samuel walked into his room with a serious face. His black suit looked neat, his hair slicked back perfectly, but the look in his eyes clearly showed that he wasn’t completely calm.“Mr. Samuel, the meeting with the finance team is scheduled for ten o’clock,” said Bani, his personal assistant, handing over several documents.Samuel nodded without saying much. “Alright. Make sure all the reports for this month are complete. I don’t want any more mistakes.”“Yes, Sir,” Bani replied quickly.Samuel sat down at his desk, opened his laptop, and began reviewing the reports one by one. He tried to focus on the numbers and data, pushing away the image of Jennifer’s face that kept appearing in his mind.“I have to stop thinking about her,” he muttered softly, pressing his temple. He stared at the large window in front of his desk. The view of tall city buildings did nothing to calm his thoughts. Still, working was the only way he knew to distract himself from things

The next morning, Jennifer sat at her dressing table with her laptop open in front of her. Her hair was loosely tied, and her eyes were fixed on the screen. Her fingers moved swiftly across the keyboard, typing in the search bar:“Samuel Wilson, Personal Profile.”A few seconds later, a list of results appeared. Jennifer scrolled slowly until her eyes stopped on a local article showing a photo of Samuel with a small boy.The name beneath the photo made her smile faintly.“Samuel Wilson with his son, Reno Barra Castillo.”Jennifer read quickly, her voice soft as if talking to herself.“Six years old… how adorable.”She scrolled further down and found a line that made her freeze for a moment.“Samuel Wilson’s wife, Rebecca Cathy Castillo, was reported to have passed away a few months ago.”Jennifer stared at the screen for a long while, then leaned back in her chair. “So it’s true… he’s a widower.”A slow smile formed on her lips, but it wasn’t a warm one — more like a calculated smile.

As soon as Jennifer’s parents went to their room, Samuel immediately grabbed Jennifer’s hand rather firmly, pulling her away from the main door. His steps were quick, his face tense and filled with restrained emotion.“What was that you just did?!” Samuel’s voice rose, though he tried to keep it low enough not to draw attention.Jennifer looked down, holding the hem of her dirty wedding gown. “I… I’m sorry.”“Sorry?” Samuel repeated in disbelief. “You kissed me in front of your parents and said I’m your fiancé, and now all you say is ‘sorry’?!”Jennifer bit her lower lip, clearly at a loss for words. “I didn’t have any other choice, Samuel. My father wouldn’t stop forcing me to marry unless I showed him someone by my side.”Samuel let out an annoyed sigh, rubbing his face with both hands. “So what am I then? A tool to cover up your lie?”“It’s not like that…” Jennifer’s voice softened. “I just needed time. If I said I already had a fiancé, they would stop pressuring me. I didn’t mean

Today, Rebecca decided not to go to college. She deliberately turned off her alarm that morning and chose to stay in the apartment with Samuel. The two of them enjoyed a simple day—watching a movie, then chatting casually on the balcony while drinking coffee.“It feels like it’s been a long time since we’ve done this,” Rebecca said softly, gazing at the sky.Samuel, who sat beside her, turned his head and smiled faintly. “Yeah, because circumstances forced us not to live together.”Rebecca looked at him, then rested her head on his shoulder. “If I could, I’d want this every day.”Samuel smiled, gently patting the back of her hand. “You know that’s not possible, right?”Rebecca pouted. “Yes, I know. But there’s no harm in dreaming.”They fell silent for a while. Only the sound of the wind and the faint noise of cars from the street below could be heard.Samuel then glanced at the watch on his wrist. “I have to go.”Rebecca quickly turned her head. “Go? Where? It’s still early.”Samuel

Rebecca came out with her hair still wet, droplets falling onto her shoulders. Her face looked fresh, and a small smile curved on her lips.Samuel, who was still leaning on the sofa, immediately turned his head. His gaze softened. “Finished?” he asked quietly.Rebecca nodded while drying her hair with a small towel. “Yes, my husband.”Samuel smiled crookedly. “If I had known the result would be like this, I should’ve told you to shower earlier.”Rebecca shot him a sharp glance but smiled. “There you go again, teasing.”Samuel chuckled lightly, then sat up straighter. “I’m only giving a compliment, not teasing.”Before Rebecca could reply, her phone started ringing. The distinct sound of a video call filled the quiet room. The name on the screen made her fall silent. It was from Aric.Samuel glanced briefly at the still-vibrating phone on the table. “Why don’t you answer it?” he asked flatly.Rebecca quickly picked up the phone, stared at the screen for a few seconds, then pressed igno
