CHAPTER 7 My Wife

"I might not have entered your office before 8, but I was here before then," Autumn replied calmly, trying her best not to clench her teeth together because she was irritated with the way he was acting all bossy.

He had all right to, he was a boss after all, but because she had seen another side of him before this, it was quite hard to fill that side of him in her head with this new one.

She silently prayed that her nightstand with him and the marriage certificate issue wouldn't cause issues between them now that he was her new boss. All she wanted right now was to be told to resume work and she would do everything to stay low-key, so as not to draw his attention to her.

"I see that you're much calmer than you were the other day. Why?" He raised his eyebrows at her, slightly mocking her. "I thought you were one to scream the whole building down?"

Autumn cleared her throat as she remembered how she had constantly shouted at him in the hotel room, and then she adjusted her seat due to uneasiness.

"I don't normally shout at people. It all depends on the circumstances surrounding it." She said, then she remembered she didn't add sir, so she immediately did.

Perry scoffed and arranged some papers on his table. "Anyway, you're most welcome to Trek Tech Company. But before you start your work, you would need to do something." He said bringing out a red file amongst the others and placing it on his table. He opened the file and brought out a paper from it.

"What is that, sir?" Autumn responded. She was ready to do everything she needed to do so she could leave his office and never cross paths with him in the company again, hopefully.

"You haven't gotten the job yet," He started, making Autumn stare at him in confusion. "You have to sign this particular deal before you become an employee of this company." He pushed forward the paper to her.

"Go through that contract and sign it." He said, which sounded more like he ordered her to do it.

Autumn went through the proposal in her hand, and with every word she read, her face got serious. She wondered if she was dreaming, or if this man in front of her was trying to test her patience. As soon as she was done reading it, she looked at Perry, the paper still in her hand. She wiggled the paper in her hand as she asked, "what is this?" She asked him.

"And what does it look like?" He returned the question.

She scoffed. "Well, I don't know. I thought we already concluded this?"

"Well, I changed my mind," Perry replied nonchalantly, his voice calm as if he wasn't bothered about her reaction, though he was. "If you want to keep your job, keep this marriage with me for one year and you can get all that you want."

Autumn scoffed as she slammed the paper on his table. "I ain't keeping no marriage!" She snapped at him, forgetting that right now, he was her boss and not her husband. "I stand with the divorce option we first agreed to, and that's my final decision. I am not getting married!" She replied sternly without hesitation.

"I guess you don't love your job that much then," Perry said and shrugged, seeing that she was being stubborn and wasn't ready to accept his proposal.

"I do, but when it comes to stuff like this, I forfeit things. And now, I'd rather quit the job than accept that proposal!" She raised her voice a little bit at him and he chuckled lightly.

"For one, you haven't even started the job, I haven't even employed you fully already, so, you can't quit what you don't have in the first place." He said and placed his elbows on the table, and stared squarely at Autumn, who kept glaring at him. "This is the last step to getting the job, so you had better think it over."

Autumn stared at him and scoffed. She did need the job a lot because she had been searching for one for a while now, besides, this was a very great opportunity for her.

She got her dream job at one of the largest and most famous companies in the whole of America, but one thing she couldn't do was the condition attached to it. She was in no way ready to get married to some random guy who ended up as her boss.

"There's nothing to think about," she replied to him. "I'll quit the job," she said and stood up immediately, without any form of greeting or anything of the sort, she walked towards the door. She was almost at his office door when it went ajar.

Perry watched Autumn's retreating figure. He did want her to accept the offer, but not desperate enough to make her think he needed her.

He sat there and watched her storm off, as he thought of other ways to make her accept his proposal. When she was almost at the door, his office door went ajar and his father walked in.

A look of surprise appeared on his face as he immediately stood up from his office chair when he saw his father.

He wasn't expecting him in the office, and he had not called beforehand to tell him that he was coming. This made him wonder why he came to his office to see him.

Autumn on the other hand stood there, her eyes glued to Mr. Moore, who had just walked in. She racked her brain as she stared at him, trying to remember where she had seen or met him before now. Just then, her eyes went wide open in the realization of where she had met him.

Mr. Moore was the man who had interviewed and hired her. He must have an important role in the company, she thought as she continued staring at him. It was then that an idea came to her mind.

Since Mr. Moore was the one that hired her in the first place, she could meet up with him and explain to him why Perry wanted her to quit the job, despite her being qualified for it. Just as she was about to greet him, Perry spoke.

"Hello, father. I've been expecting you," he said as he got to where Autumn stood.?

They were now both in front of Me Moore. "Father, meet my wife, Autumn."
