JOCELYN’s POV

I looked at myself in the mirror and sighed, shaking my head as I wiped the red lipstick I’d put on. It was too bright. I needed something that could go with the shimmery silver halter top gown I was wearing for the Charity gala. So far, in the past ten minutes, I’d tried nude, but it was too nude, rose, but it was too pale, and this red was too bright.

I groaned and started ransacking my makeup box, there had to be a color that would go with this dress and will make me look elegant and gorgeous. That was the look I was going for, and I had no choice but to achieve it. I didn’t need a genie to tell me I still wasn’t completely over Ethan. I knew he was going to parade Clarissa in front of me all night and to not feel like a loser whose self-worth had just been trampled on, I needed to look better than her.

“Please, Please…” I murmured and eventually pulled out a plum colored lipstick. I cocked my head and rolled it down, putting the lipstick itself against my lip. Would

JOCELYN’s POVI closed the meeting room door behind me and looked at the faces of the heads and representatives of all the teams involved in the fashion show preparation. It was obvious from their expressions that I had interrupted their conversation, or better put, gossip. I ignored them and went to have my seat.As of today, we had a month left till the fashion show, but because of the so many things that were going on in my life, I’d been unable to meet them all like this physically. So, we’d been settling with emails of the updates.“Good morning everyone. As you all know, the fashion show is very close, and we still have a lot of things to finalize. For now though, I would like us to talk about our schedule and where we need to put more effort.” I opened the document in front of me and flipped it until I got to the show checklist.“How are we doing on the sketches? Production have started right?” I asked then noticed Clarissa’s absence.“Where’s Miss Campbell. Isn’t she meant to

DANIEL’s POVWe drove in silence for a while before Jocelyn cleared her throat. I glanced at her before turning back to the wheel. “Sorry for making you wait.” She apologized. Is that all? I would think you have other things to apologize for.” I told her and felt her eyes on me. “And for losing my cool.” She then scoffed. “Why do I even need to apologize to you? It’s not like I did anything uncalled-for. If I spoke or reacted in a way you didn’t appreciate, it’s because she deserved it.“You started the apology without my interference.” I told her. If I didn’t know better, I would assume she was looking for a fight. “Whatever.” She said, and I heard her move I glanced at her again, she had assumed her favorite position, staring out the window. It was almost two am, and we were the only ones on the road so it was obvious her position was assumed to ignore me, same as it was whenever we happened to be driving together. We finished the rest of the drive back to the storage unit in sile

JOCELYN’s POVI ran up the stairs and into my room, slamming the door behind me and standing behind it, panting heavily. What was wrong with me?I ruffled my hair and went to my bed, falling face first and groaning into the sheets. I turned over and faced the ceiling. Where had everything actually gone wrong? My brain was so overwhelmed, I didn’t even know what to start thinking of first. And if I refused to try to think about it and bring it into perspective, it would just fester. The anxiety that had started the moment I’d heard Ethan and Clarissa talking about their plan for my company would just go wrong.I pounded my fist on the bed for a while trying to let out the indescribable feelings before doing something I used to but stopped when Ethan came into my life, journaling. From the moment I’d entered therapy after my parents' death till I’d healed a little after three years, I’d kept a daily journal. That had been one of the main things that had kept me from falling off a cliff,

JOCELYN’s POV“May I have this dance?” Marcus asked beside me as I surveyed the fruit trays at the buffet stand and I smiled at him and shook my head.“Are you leaving your date partnerless to dance with me?” I asked, glancing around to see Vivian laughing with a group of people. As the night had deepened, I’d realized that Vivian wasn’t just somebody that came as Marcus’date. From her interactions with other people, it was clear this kind of event wasn’t her first rodeo.“What are you talking about? My date left me first.” He replied, and I laughed, grabbing a plate and filling it with different fruits.”“You sound like you’re whining. Why not go and network with her?” I said, popping a piece of apple into my mouth. Delicious. He studied me and I looked at him, cocking my head. “Is there a problem?” I asked and he shook his head.“No. I just thought… you know… With the way you two got married…” He stuttered, and I narrowed my eyes at him, dropping my plate.“Why are you stuttering? JOCELYN’s POVThe strange lady, or rather, Vivian smiled at me and I had the grace to look remorseful. “Sorry about my reaction.“You look shocked.” We both said at the same time and out of the corner of my eyes, I saw Marcus snickering and telling Daniel something.I ignored them and shook my head. “I used to know someone with the same name. A long time ago. Plus you said you knew me earlier, so I wondered…”She threw her head back and laughed, shaking her hands. “I doubt it. I’ve been told my name always brings memories for people. It’s because there are lots of Vivian. Lack of creativity from my parents.” She said and turned to greet Clarissa, but Clarissa ignored her as she kept glaring at me. I ignored her as well.I cocked my head. There was something about her that told me she was being sincere but again. “Really?”She nodded, humor still staining her lips. “Everyone knows you. You’re Mrs. Steele’s.” She responded and Ethan scoffed.“Say it like it is, will you? And also the on
