Chapter 5 – COME AND GET ME!

Dexter is still weak and cannot walk, but he can see and hear the men, who passed by near the hut, where he is lying. He wonders why they cannot see the hut or hear his shout. He can hear them talking to each other. They were very near to him. He can even recognize the face of some of his friends. He knows they are looking for him. He is very happy in that thought. But it seems they are all deaf and blind.

                “Hello, I am here” he keeps repeating it while they passed by.

He sees some of them even look at the direction of the hut, but why they did not come for him?

He hears them, talking they are looking for him, but why did have not seen him?

Why they did not hear him shouting for them? If only his rifle is near him, he will make a shot to call their attention. However, he did not know, where are his things. Possibly Shane put them all in a safe place.

                “Hello, Shayne can you help me?” he calls for help.

                But she is nowhere to be found. She is possibly far from the hut.

                He prays that the search party may see Shayne, so that he can be save.

                He prays they may come back for him. He wants to go home.

Using the strength, he has gain in the past hours, he tries to stand up, and come close to the window. Little by little, he was able to dot it, he can be seen clearly by anyone who will passed by near the hut. He waits and waits, after sometime, two men passed by, but they were at the back of the hut, they cannot see him. So, he shouts again at the top of his voice

                “Hello there, I am here” he keeps repeating it several times.

To his dismay, they did not hear him. They have not notice him. Is he invisible to all of them?

After sometime, Shane shows herself in the hut. Dexter talks to her.

                “Have you seen the men passing by near the hut”

                “No, I have not seen them” she is busy collecting the plates he has used.

                “Impossible, they are about ten or more” he objected.

                “Have you gone far from the hut” he asked.

                “No, I am just around looking for my chickens” she is raising native chicken.

                “But why you have not seen them, or they have seen you either?”

                 " I don't know" her short answer

She walks going to the kitchen. He can hear the noise of utensil she is washing. Dexter is wondering what is the mystery happening in this place, why those men passing by, looking for him have not seen the hut, or even have not hear him shouting at them.  

                Dexter keeps waiting and waiting for his companion and friends to found him and bring him home. He stays long in the window , hoping and praying for his rescue, until the night comes and make the horizon lost on his sight in the cover of darkness.
