Chapter 2

I jumped up with lightning speed when I woke up realizing I missed my alarm.

"Shit, shit, shit" I mumbled as I ran to the bathroom and had one of the quickest showers of my life.

Coming out of the bathroom draped in a towel, I put on a black ripped jeans and the cafe t-shirt , pulling my hair in a sloppy bun I applied gloss on my lips , taking a glance at myself in the mirror which I'm grateful for, I saw the prints on my neck and quickly let my hair down to cover it and tried concealing it properly. Picking my bag, I threw in random stuff and put on my flats racing to the door.

I was about opening the door when a voice stopped me

"Where the hell do you think you're going to?" Lora asked coming behind me

" Isn't it obvious or are you blind?" I asked irritated

" What?" she said

" I don't have time to play dumb with you, so bye" I said realizing I was already late.

Glancing at my phone briefly, I heard a car honk loudly, making me want to slap myself for being stupid - having an accident is the least thing I want now. Giving an apologetic smile at the driver who obviously didn't return it I ran across the road before flagging down a cab.

"Hey girl, you're twenty minutes late, you're so lucky I covered for you" Maddie said opening the backdoor for me.

"Thanks, I owe you" I said grabbing my apron and picking the notepad as I tried to calm my racing heart.

"We have to talk later, ok? but now you've got tables 3,5 and 7 so shoo" she said giving me a slight nudge forward.

"Good morning, what will you like to have" I began and that is how it's been till this moment .

"Maddie please take that table over there" I said

" Oh I'm sorry I can't, just do it I've got a lot on my hands " she said looking apologetic

" Don't bother, it's fine just go ahead" I said already moving towards the table- I swear my feet were killing me.

"Good morning what can I get you?" I asked with a fake smile as the guy openly undressed me without shame making me want to smack his head.

"I'll have a cup of cappuccino and he'll have a cup of strong coffee" the guy said and if he wasn't undressing couple of minutes ago maybe I'd have considered him cute, don't mind me anyway he is hot and his friend seems to be also although he hasn't raised his head yet but there was this aura and I'm definitely not the only one who noticed that cause everyone has been with a few whispering here and there.

"Will that be all?" I asked politely

"No" the guy said making me quirk a brow

" What else would you want sir?" I asked

" Your number" he said bluntly making me drop my jaw in shock

"Sorry, I can't do that, but if you want something else we offer in the cafe I'll be happy to give you, sir" I said emphasising every word and it was his turn to stare at me in disbelief, I think I heard a slight chuckle from his friend but that isn't my business anyway.

"Did you see those guys?" Carie the gossip said to her friend as I passed by

"Yeah, that's Ace Parker and the I'm sure the guy on the phone is the very Asher Black, but what are they doing here anyway?" I heard Riley reply enthusiastically and I don't usually do this but I had the urge to eavsdrop a little, so I pretended to be doing something nearby.

" I'll go ask if they want anything maybe I'll" Carie began saying 

" Hey girl!, eavesdropping are we ?" she said whispering the last part in my ears and I laughed loudly at how easy it was for her to know.

"I wasn't" I said looking like a deer caught in red lights

"You sure ?" she asked laughing 

"Did you see those guys?" Maddie said wriggling her brow and I just knew it.

"You knew they were there didn't you, that's why you didn't help me" I said accusingly

" What? what you talking about? , I don't know what you're..say..ing" she said but that was my clue , she never stutters unless she's lying .

"Fine, I did but it's not my fault I wanted you to see them, besides it looked like  Ace got something for you , did you see the way he was checking you out?" she said giggling like a school girl that has seen her crush

"You mean openly undressing me, if that's it, yes I saw" I said rolling my eyes 

" Come on, don't make it sound like that ok?" she said 

"  Enough about them  they're gone anyway but they left a huge tip " I said slightly dismissing the topic

" Wow, I wish I'll meet a guy like them" Maddie said slipping into her fairytale fantasy

"Please come there's something I have to tell you" I said pulling her to a corner

" And that's how it happened" I said narrating my small story

" You mean you're going to the Black Mansion and you're just telling me and wait don't tell me you didn't know it was Asher Black on that table?" Maddie asked looking at me like I've grown a second head or something

"He didn't raise his head, I just saw his friend ermm Ace whatever" I said finally

" But you know Asher Black right?" she asked

" No I didn't, I just assumed Melissa was going to marry a playboy ofcourse I know him he's always on the news" I said.

" Ok, I'm so jealous right now " I heard her say giggling a little.

" Alright back to work, come on , let's get going" I said walking out

I ran up the stairs immediately I walked into the house, I checked the time and from what Melissa said yesterday, I know it's important I'm there if not I'm sure they wouldn't have bothered to take me they don't do it so maybe they know he has another daughter and he wants to make a good impression. I had barely an hour left to get ready. Closing the door my room, I opened my closet, rummaging it for something appropriate, my fingers slowly touched a cool fabric at the back of the closet and I brought out a beautiful black gown, it looked so elegant with the sequins that outlined the bodice - I remember buying this gown for Dylan's graduation but not wearing it cause it ended the day before that and I didn't go .

I rushed in and had a bath, scrubbing sweat from my body as I silently thanked God I shaved recently. Coming out I sat at the dresser, pulling out my curling iron, I began my hair which I achieved in a few minutes. I quickly put concealer on my neck were the prints were and started my makeup going for a natural look with a red lip stick that made my lips pop. Finally, I put on the dress and damn!, not bragging or anything but in times like this, I'm glad I've got a nice body, the dress hugged my curves like a second skin stopping an inch or so above my knee. Putting on my accessories and pairing my dress with silver strapped stilleto heels that I wouldn't have bought if Maddie wasn't there that day. Grabbing the matching clutch, I threw in my phone, lipgloss and viola I was ready.

Taking a final glance at myself, I was impressed with my look and I walked down almost tripping on the stairs when I saw Melissa looking like a walking disco bulb in a bright pink dress filled with sequins and a makeup caked face. 

"This night will be something else" I mumbled to myself just as we climbed in the limo.
