I packed up the sleeping bags we had been using.

As I moved I felt the tension in the air. Oisin said the invocates were only ten minutes away. That felt like just enough distance for them to be breathing down our necks.

I chided myself for forgetting to mention it to Phoenix earlier. We had been running from them for awhile, but they had never gotten this close. Maybe it had felt distant to the fact that Phoenix woke up.

A part of me had started believing that he would never wake up again. So it was so overwhelming for me when he had actually woken up.

I blushed at the memory of how I hugged him. In that moment I wanted nothing more than to hold him down so he never left me like that again.

I wondered what was wrong with me. I barely knew him and I didn’t like what I knew. He was a hunter, a human and he pissed me off. Not to talk of how he basically kidnapped me.

Alright maybe he didn’t actually kidnap me but it definitely felt like that at first.
