LOGINMy whole body froze.
The heat was too much. It wasn't the dark alley It was him. Standing this close to the man I had secretly loved for four years, finally having him look at me like I wasn't a little girl but a woman I had to go. I had to run before I made a mistake I could never take back. As I turned to go, he reached out and drew my hand back. In one smooth move, he pulled me into a hug so tight, like he was terrified I was about to run away and never come back. My face was pressed against his hard chest. I could hear his heart hammering as loud as mine. "Mila, I know you have a crush on me," he whispered against my hair. "I have always known." My knees went weak. So he always knew. Every stolen glance at dinner, every time I blushed when he came over he knew all along. "You feel hot and breathless right now, don't you?" he murmured. He was right. My skin was burning. I couldn't breathe properly. Then he leaned in and inhaled my scent again, slow and deep, like a man trying to control himself and failing. "Mila, if you want to run, go now," he said, his voice strained. "Because if you stay..." But my body wouldn't listen to my brain. My heart knew this was forbidden love. My dad's best friend. An uncle to me since I was little. My mom's ex. This was wrong. And yet when he whispered, "Mila, you're mine," my whole soul shivered, His hands traveled to my back and held my waist so tight I couldn't move. I felt his fingers brush the zipper of my dress and start to pull it down just an inch. Panic shot through me and I grabbed his hand. "No uncle, please. This is my first time." The second I said it, he froze. His hand dropped instantly, like he had touched fire. He stepped back from me, putting real distance between us for the first time tonight. He ran a hand through his hair, his chest rising and falling hard. He looked torn, guilty, and still wanting. "Mila, God... I'm sorry," he said, his voice full of regret. "I'm so sorry. I shouldn't have... you're right. Not like this. You deserve better than an alley behind a party." He looked at me one last time, his eyes dark with emotion. "Go back inside, sweetheart. I'll stay out here for a while." And then, without another word, he turned and walked away deeper into the dark, leaving me alone, shaking, with my dress still zipped and my heart beating out of my chest. He walked away and left me there, alone in the hot alley. I stood there for a long time, my hand still covering the zipper at the back of my dress. My whole body was shaking. Not from the cold. From him. My legs couldn't hold on anymore. I slid down slowly until my back hit the brick wall and I sat on the ground, not caring if my expensive dress got dirty. What just happened? My dad's best friend. My mom's ex. The man I called uncle since I was a child just held me like he wanted me. He almost... and I stopped him. I touched my neck where I could still feel his breath from when he smelled me. I could still smell his cologne all over my skin. I should have been angry. I should have felt guilty. But I didn't i just felt alive, For the first time in my 20 years, I felt seen. Not as little Mila, not as someone's daughter. As a woman he actually wanted. But then the fear came crashing down. What if my mom finds out? What if my dad finds out? What would they do to him? What would they think of me? Tears started to fall before I could stop them. Hot and silent tears. I wiped them quickly with the back of my hand. I couldn't go back inside crying. My mom would know instantly. My mom always knows. I took a deep breath, the way he had. I tried to fix my hair, fix my dress, fix my face didn't want anyone to notice Inside, I could hear my mom laughing through the window. She was so happy tonight. So happy with her new dress, her new life trying to forget about andrel And here I was, in the dark, falling for her ex I whispered to myself, hugging my knees. "You're so stupid.Mila But even as I said it, my eyes were still locked on the dark corner where he had disappeared, wishing he would come back and hug me againHe was back.I thought he left. I swear I watched his black car pull out of the campus parking lot after my morning class. I saw it disappear onto the main road with my own eyes.So how was it parked right in front of my lecture building now, like it had never left?My heart started beating so fast I thought I was going to faint right there on the stairs."Mila! Wait up!"Trex was still following me. He had his backpack slung over one shoulder and that persistent smile on his face that I had told him a hundred times I didn't like.Chloe looked at me with that weird gaze. She was looking between me and Trex, then between me and the black car parked at the curb. I knew she had a lot of questions, but this was not the time.We went down the last flight of stairs and I stopped suddenly."You guys can go home," I blurted out, my voice higher than normal. "You can go. He will take me home."Chloe frowned. "Who? Mia, who will take you home?"Trex stopped too. "What do you mean? We were suppo
Professor Adams was halfway through his lecture on market structures when the door at the back of the hall creaked open.I didn't think anything of it. People usually came in late all the time.Until Chloe grabbed my arm and whispered, "Oh my god. Don't look now."Of course, I looked.Trex.He walked in wearing a black hoodie and that confident smile that made half the girls in the Econ department blush. But it never worked on me. Not once. His eyes scanned the hall and landed straight on me. Like he knew exactly where I sat. He smiled wider and started walking down the aisle toward our row.My stomach dropped."Is this seat taken?" he asked, already pulling out the empty seat next to me.Chloe looked at me, then at him. She knew I didn't like him. Everyone knew except him who I have told multiple times but he wouldn't listen .Before I could say no, he sat down very close. His knee brushed mine under the table and I shifted away immediately."What are you doing here?" I whispered, t
The lecture hall was already half full when I walked in. I didn't look back at the campus gate. I didn't have to. I could feel his eyes on my back the entire time, burning a hole through my backpack until I disappeared into the building. "You're late again." Chloe didn't even look up from her laptop when she said it. She was my roommate, my best friend since freshman year, and the only person who could tell when I was lying. "Campus traffic was crazy," I mumbled, sliding into my favorite seat by the window. I dropped my backpack on the floor and let out a breath I didn't know I was holding. It wasn't traffic. It was him. Professor Adams was already setting up his notes at the front, but I couldn't focus. My heart was still beating too fast, too loud. The air conditioning was humming, but my skin felt hot. My t-shirt felt too tight around my chest. Everything felt wrong since that car ride. The ride was quiet. Too quiet. He didn't say a single word the whole way to campus. The
I walked away last night. Her mother called from downstairs, "Mila! Come down for breakfast!" and my whole body reacted before my mind could. I was already sitting at the dining table with a cup of coffee in my hand, pretending to be calm. Pretending like I hadn't spent the whole night thinking about one question. "Do you still love my mom, or would you ever love me?" That private question she asked me in the hallway was still ringing in my head. I walked away that night because I had no answer. Not because I didn't love her. God knows I do. But because I have never really sat down to think it through on my own. Do I still love her mother? Or am I trying to heal my past through her daughter? I was still battling with that when I heard her footsteps on the stairs. Then she came down. She was wearing a short and a sleeveless top, her long hair packed up, her glasses sitting perfectly on her face. She looked different today. Beautiful. Confident. Like she wanted to be seen. Like sh
I left before I would do something I couldn't control. "I need air," I told her, and I walked away from her in the hallway. My chest was tight. My hands were shaking. If I stayed one more second with her that close, in that red gown, I knew I would forget who I was supposed to be to her. I didn't go far. I turned into the side aley of the house, where the light from the party didn't reach. From there, she couldn't see me. But I could see her. Mila didn't move at first. She just stood there where I left her, her hands holding her beautiful red floral gown. Then slowly, she sat down on the ground. She didn't even care that her expensive gown would get dirty on the hallway floor. She just sat there. She wasn't crying. She wasn't making any sound. She just sat quietly, fixing her hair with her small hands. Tucking it behind her ear, again and again. Then she fixed her gown, straightening the flowers at the bottom. But her eyes kept looking back at the alley. The alley where I was h
Andrel POV:I still remember the exact day.It was two weeks after her 18th birthday. I had come to their house to see her father, my best friend. He was running late, so I waited in the living room with a glass of water in my hand, scrolling through emails I wasn't really reading. Then the front door opened.Mila walked in from school. Her school bag was hanging heavy on her shoulder, her hair a little messy from the day. She looked tired. Her eyes were down, lost in thought, and there was a quiet sadness in them. But even tired, she was beautiful. In a pure, innocent way that made the whole room feel softer. Then she looked up and saw me.In an instant, her tired face changed. She smiled. It wasn't a loud smile, it was small, shy, just with her eyes and lips. She greeted me, "Uncle Andrel."Something in my chest shifted. It was a strange, warm connection I couldn't explain. Like my heart recognized her before my mind could.I panicked. I forced a smile back, said a quick hello, and
