I stood up from the dining table, my plate still half full. I couldn't eat anymore. Not with him staring at me like that. Not after what my mom said about Trex.

"I'll get going, I said quietly, picking up my bag. "My lecture is by eight."

I was already at the door when my dad's voice stopped me.

"Andrel," he called out, not even looking up from his newspaper. "Aren't you going her way? Help me drop her off at school."

My heart sank straight to my stomach.

The air left my lungs.

"No," I said too quickly. "Dad, don't worry. I can go by myself. I can take a cab."

My dad finally looked up and frowned at me. "Why are you stressing yourself? He's going the same way. Let him drop you. Fuel is expensive."

I looked at Andrel. Pleading with my eyes for him to say no. To say he was busy.

He didn't say anything. He just stood up slowly, picked up his car keys from the table, and looked at me. His face was unreadable.

That silence made it worse than any word.

We walked out to the car together. He opened the passenger door for me. His hand brushed mine for a second and I flinched like I had been burned.

The drive started.

It was quiet. Too quiet.

The AC was on full blast, cold air hitting my legs, but inside the car, it felt like fire. My skin was hot. My thighs felt sticky against the leather seat. My school shirt suddenly felt too tight around my chest. I stared out the window, but I could feel him. I could feel his eyes leaving the road and landing on me every few seconds. On my legs. On my lips.

The silence was louder than any argument.

I wanted to say something. To explain that Trex was nobody. That I didn't like him. But my pride wouldn't let me. Why should I explain myself to my dad's best friend? Why should I explain myself to my mom's ex?

We reached the school gate. He stopped the car but didn't unlock the door immediately.

Finally, he turned to look at me fully. His eyes were dark. His jaw was clenched so tight I could see the muscle moving.

His voice was cold when he spoke. Too calm. The kind of calm that comes before a storm.

"Get down," he said.

Then he added, with a small, humorless smile, I hope you and Trex have a nice day."

My chest tightened. So he was jealous. He was so jealous it was eating him alive, but he was trying to hide it under anger.

Trex meant nothing to me. Absolutely nothing. Andrel was the only man in my head since yesterday. Since he pushed me against that hallway wall.

I thought to myself, why is he so jealous? What right does he have to be jealous?

I didn't reply. I couldn't. If I opened my mouth, I would say something stupid.

I just pushed the door open, got down, and walked straight into the school compound without looking back. My hips swayed more than usual. I knew he was watching.

I entered my class and sat by the window. My heart was still beating too fast.

I looked outside.

His black car was still there. Parked by the gate.

He hadn't driven off.

He was still there, watching me.

He was back.I thought he left. I swear I watched his black car pull out of the campus parking lot after my morning class. I saw it disappear onto the main road with my own eyes.So how was it parked right in front of my lecture building now, like it had never left?My heart started beating so fast I thought I was going to faint right there on the stairs."Mila! Wait up!"Trex was still following me. He had his backpack slung over one shoulder and that persistent smile on his face that I had told him a hundred times I didn't like.Chloe looked at me with that weird gaze. She was looking between me and Trex, then between me and the black car parked at the curb. I knew she had a lot of questions, but this was not the time.We went down the last flight of stairs and I stopped suddenly."You guys can go home," I blurted out, my voice higher than normal. "You can go. He will take me home."Chloe frowned. "Who? Mia, who will take you home?"Trex stopped too. "What do you mean? We were suppo

  • MY SILENT WISH, MY SCAR    chapter 10:He showed up again

Professor Adams was halfway through his lecture on market structures when the door at the back of the hall creaked open.I didn't think anything of it. People usually came in late all the time.Until Chloe grabbed my arm and whispered, "Oh my god. Don't look now."Of course, I looked.Trex.He walked in wearing a black hoodie and that confident smile that made half the girls in the Econ department blush. But it never worked on me. Not once. His eyes scanned the hall and landed straight on me. Like he knew exactly where I sat. He smiled wider and started walking down the aisle toward our row.My stomach dropped."Is this seat taken?" he asked, already pulling out the empty seat next to me.Chloe looked at me, then at him. She knew I didn't like him. Everyone knew except him who I have told multiple times but he wouldn't listen .Before I could say no, he sat down very close. His knee brushed mine under the table and I shifted away immediately."What are you doing here?" I whispered, t

  • MY SILENT WISH, MY SCAR    CHAPTER 9

The lecture hall was already half full when I walked in. I didn't look back at the campus gate. I didn't have to. I could feel his eyes on my back the entire time, burning a hole through my backpack until I disappeared into the building. "You're late again." Chloe didn't even look up from her laptop when she said it. She was my roommate, my best friend since freshman year, and the only person who could tell when I was lying. "Campus traffic was crazy," I mumbled, sliding into my favorite seat by the window. I dropped my backpack on the floor and let out a breath I didn't know I was holding. It wasn't traffic. It was him. Professor Adams was already setting up his notes at the front, but I couldn't focus. My heart was still beating too fast, too loud. The air conditioning was humming, but my skin felt hot. My t-shirt felt too tight around my chest. Everything felt wrong since that car ride. The ride was quiet. Too quiet. He didn't say a single word the whole way to campus. The

  • MY SILENT WISH, MY SCAR    CHAPTER 8: ANDREL POV

I walked away last night. Her mother called from downstairs, "Mila! Come down for breakfast!" and my whole body reacted before my mind could. I was already sitting at the dining table with a cup of coffee in my hand, pretending to be calm. Pretending like I hadn't spent the whole night thinking about one question. "Do you still love my mom, or would you ever love me?" That private question she asked me in the hallway was still ringing in my head. I walked away that night because I had no answer. Not because I didn't love her. God knows I do. But because I have never really sat down to think it through on my own. Do I still love her mother? Or am I trying to heal my past through her daughter? I was still battling with that when I heard her footsteps on the stairs. Then she came down. She was wearing a short and a sleeveless top, her long hair packed up, her glasses sitting perfectly on her face. She looked different today. Beautiful. Confident. Like she wanted to be seen. Like sh

I left before I would do something I couldn't control. "I need air," I told her, and I walked away from her in the hallway. My chest was tight. My hands were shaking. If I stayed one more second with her that close, in that red gown, I knew I would forget who I was supposed to be to her. I didn't go far. I turned into the side aley of the house, where the light from the party didn't reach. From there, she couldn't see me. But I could see her. Mila didn't move at first. She just stood there where I left her, her hands holding her beautiful red floral gown. Then slowly, she sat down on the ground. She didn't even care that her expensive gown would get dirty on the hallway floor. She just sat there. She wasn't crying. She wasn't making any sound. She just sat quietly, fixing her hair with her small hands. Tucking it behind her ear, again and again. Then she fixed her gown, straightening the flowers at the bottom. But her eyes kept looking back at the alley. The alley where I was h

  • MY SILENT WISH, MY SCAR    CHAPTER 6: HOW I FELL FOR HER

Andrel POV:I still remember the exact day.It was two weeks after her 18th birthday. I had come to their house to see her father, my best friend. He was running late, so I waited in the living room with a glass of water in my hand, scrolling through emails I wasn't really reading. Then the front door opened.Mila walked in from school. Her school bag was hanging heavy on her shoulder, her hair a little messy from the day. She looked tired. Her eyes were down, lost in thought, and there was a quiet sadness in them. But even tired, she was beautiful. In a pure, innocent way that made the whole room feel softer. Then she looked up and saw me.In an instant, her tired face changed. She smiled. It wasn't a loud smile, it was small, shy, just with her eyes and lips. She greeted me, "Uncle Andrel."Something in my chest shifted. It was a strange, warm connection I couldn't explain. Like my heart recognized her before my mind could.I panicked. I forced a smile back, said a quick hello, and
