Chapter 5

CHARLES

"Ma'am," Ben calls Luna Debbie, Kelvin's mother, who turns to face him. "A-a-are you sure this is the way to Camilla's hostel?" He asks, stammering at the beginning.

Luna Debbie just rolls her eyes and turns to walk ahead but on a second thought, she speaks. "Just follow me, okay? If I wasn't sure I wouldn't have dragged the three of you all the way from your Pack!" Her voice is emotionless so I'm unable to read it.

"Sorry ma'am, I was just asking." Ben shrugs then shuts up.

Luna Debbie doesn't add any other word, instead, she leads the way through the busy street and after walking for about ten minutes, Jeremy asks her why she didn't suggest the possibility of boarding a cab if the place was that far.

She ignores him and marches ahead, momentarily scrolling through her phone as of to check on something and then continues with the journey.

Eventually, my brothers decide to shut up and just follow the Luna and to our relief, she stops in front of an apartment building and reaches for the doorbell, a wide smile plastered all over her face.

"Boys, here we are!" She announces excitedly. "Let's just hope we find her at home!" She adds.

The huge steel gates part exposing a unformed security guard who peeps and then asks us where we are headed to. Before any of us can reply, his face lots up in recognition when he spots Luna Debbie among us and he bows in respect, regarding her.

"Arnold, how have you been?" She greets him as we all enter right through the gates.

"I'm fine ma', we are taking great care of your daughter ma'." He adds.

A huge lump barricades my throat and I blush in shame immediately I realize that I'm jealous just at the mention of another man taking good care of my mate. I turn to face my brothers and both of them are equally pissed off and as usual, Jeremy's palms are fisted ready to attack. This boy really loves fighting!

"I'm glad to hear that Arnold. Is she still inside?" Daisy asks.

"Yes ma'am, she's yet to leave for her lectures. Even her boyfriend has just entered her apartment."

"Her what?!" The four of us ask in shock, popping out eyes out in utter dismay. Our outburst surprises o rather amuses Arnold because he giggles nervously and looks up as if to address us but before then, Jeremy speaks.

"You mean our mate has a boyfriend? I'll kill that son-of-a-bitch today!" He says, his fists rolled into balls. All of us are equally pissed off!

"Mate? What do you mean by that?" Arnold asks in concern. Well, I don't expect him to understand since he's human. His disgusting scent is all over and now that he has spoken about a certain boyfriend of our supposed mate, I find his scent even more disgusting than before!

"Let's go boys. We shall find out for ourselves." Luna Debbie says as she throws the confused Arnold an apologetic glance. "I'll see you on our way back." She says to him.

We all move as if we are pulled forward and hurriedly follow the already pissed off Luna who is walking at a supersonic speed.

All this while, my heart is racing in anticipation, unsure of what or who to meet in Camilla's apartment but either way, I'm ready for anything.

I can tell that a whole lot is ongoing in the minds of the rest and for sure, Luna Debbie seems ready for murder. We follow her through a well mowed driveway then past a vast parking lot and we all hop into an elevator. She presses the third floor button and the machine accelerates upwards, coming to a halt on the third floor of the apartment building.

We eagerly wait for the doors to part and within no time, we are all out and eager to see the direction which Luna Debbie is taking. She follows her left and we all turn to walk beside and behind her and before long, we all come to a halt when we spot a romantic couple who are holding hands immediately after locking their house. Camilla and her so-called boyfriend!

Camilla's face turns red the moment she spots the four of us and the books which were in her hands fall onto the floor. She's no longer holding hands with her lover! Her infuriated mother marches forward and immediately she stops right in front of her, she swings her right hand ready to slap her hard across her face but Camilla's lover grabs the hand and holds it tight, mid air. I can tell that he's fighting between twisting it and letting her go.

"Let go of her you son-of-a-bitch!" Ben roars angrily as he moves forward towards the guy.

"Stay where you are kid, else I'm gonna make you regret ever meeting me!" The guy warns.

"Emanuel, please let her go. She's my mother." Camilla says to her guy. I'm even disgusted to refer to him as her guy! Jeremy comes to a sudden halt after glancing at me and I give him a signal to stop. All this while, my mind is a whirlwind of thoughts and emotions and to be sincere, I'm no longer thinking straight!

The guy loosens his grip on Camilla's mother and then fists his palms into balls. That alone infuriates me to the core. He has the balls, doesn't he?

"I don't know who you are but I'm sure you know the consequences of trespassing and causing commotion in someone's property!" The guy whose name is Emanuel scoffs. Emanuel? Emaciated... What a disgusting name! Who the hell does he think he is? I can tell that my two brothers are running out of patience and they are trying hard to hold themselves together.

By the look of things and his scent, he's a werewolf and a strong one for that matter. All thanks to the moon goddess, the giver of werewolf life and mighty gifter, I have the gift of sensing strong werewolves and weak ones. I also have other gifts which I'm unwilling to disclose for now.

"I am her mother and I command you to leave my daughter's side before I do something you'll live to regret!" Debbie says but the guy just smiles.

"Nice to meet you ma' but-"

"Leave our mate alone!" I find myself blurting out after exhausting all my damn patience. I walk towards them while pocketing casually.

Shocked, Emanuel turns to Camilla and frowns questionably. "Babe, is this the reason why you came back abruptly?" He asks her and she nods while facing the floor.

"Oh no!" He says while shaking his head and then walks away from her even before I reach where they are. He walks towards us then past us and let's himself into the elevator, but not before telling Camilla to sort her mess and that after she's done she knows where to find him. Agrrr! What an entitled proud wolf!

"My daughter won't come looking for you, drum head!" Luna Debbie scoffs at him but he doesn't bulge. It seems he's not the type to be easily intimidated!

Camilla watches Emanuel as he walks away and for a moment there, I admire how her eyes blink in both love and confusion and I suddenly start envying Emanuel. She must truly love him, but not for long. Her true lovers are right in front of her waiting to have her in their arms. Gosh! I can't wait to make her our mate and show her love, at the same time making her feel like the beautiful woman that she is!

Camilla shifts her gaze from Emanuel and finally stares at us. My wolf winces in pain upon seeing the tears in her big round and beautiful eyes. I can't imagine she's crying for that guy! Again, I can't stand seeing her sad....damn!

"I made it clear to you arrogant triplets that I want nothing to do with you and instead of taking my words to heart, you followed me to the city with my mother's help!" Camilla says calmly yet her words weigh down my heart, pricking like thousands of thorns.

She doesn't want us...

She's denying us....

"Shut up you ingrate!" Debbie shouts at her daughter, her eyes burning with fire and fury. "You're already past mate-meeting age and yet you're denying your goddess-given mates instead of grabbing this opportunity and move in with them immediately and get to know them better!" Debbie reprimands Camilla.

"Mom, listen to me please!" Camilla demands, trying her best to keep her calm. "I really wanted to be mated and to finally meet my mate but I never anticipated being mated to a whole Pack!" She says that in a funny way such that the three of us burst out laughing.

Ben who already knows about my gifts leans over to me and whispers into my ears. "Has that Emanuel guy already made love to our mate?" He asks and his question catches me off guard.

"What?" I gasp but immediately compose myself. Well, I'm not going to give him any straight answer but what I know for a fact is that our mate is untouched and still a virgin.

"What do you think, huh?!" I ask him, shrugging.

"I don't know dummy, that's why I've asked you Mr-know-it-all!"

"Don't you dare insult my intelligence young man. Remember you're still my younger brother and a baby at that. I-" before I can finish my sentence, Ben bursts out laughing and pats me by my shoulders.

"You've missed a scene big brother!" He says while pointing at Jeremy who's already standing right in front of Camilla. She's blushing and facing away at the same time!

"What just happened bro?" I ask curiously.

"Use your intelligence and gift to find out!" He blurts out while grinning and then walks away towards Jeremy and Camilla. Luna Debbie is already disappearing into a her daughter's house since she has been handed the keys though involuntarily and she beckons us to follow her. Well, I'm not following her until I find out what really transpired between Jeremy and Camilla.

I walk towards Camilla and my younger brothers and after gathering all my courage, I extend my hand to shake hers, ready for an introduction.

When her soft fingers brush my palm, tingles and electric waves run through my body, leaving me awed and dazed. I finally gather my strength to say something.

"We started on the wrong foot Camilla..." I start. "I am Charles and these are my brothers-"

"-Ben and Jeremy?" She finishes up the sentence for me. Damn it! She's so sweet! Goodness, these kids have already introduced themselves!

"My bad!" I blush. "I can see that you've already met my brothers." I say to her and she nods.

"Let's go inside." She says to my excitement. My brothers also seem excited by the unexpected invite. Well, it seems we're heading somewhere!

We follow Camilla into her apartment where we find Luna Debbie already seated on the couch, making herself comfortable.

"Offer your guests something to drink and after you're done, let's talk in the bedroom!" Camilla's mother demands and she just nods as she walks towards to what I presume to be the kitchen. Two minutes later, she walks out with a bottle of chamdor and three glasses which she sets on the table right in front of us.

Without any other word, she leaves us and heads to the bedroom where Luna Debbie has already disappeared to. My brothers and I share knowing glances and I smile nervously. I've never been this nervous in any girl's presence before. This one is new and it definitely has no remedy.

Jeremy serves us the non-alcoholic wine and we discreetly raise our glasses for a toast. Deep down my heart, I'm hoping that Camilla will finally accept us after her mother talks sense into her stubborn head!
