LOGINChapter 4
Mr. Mercado’s POV The next day, I arrived early at the company to set my plan in motion—to remove the CEO, Anastasia, and take over. "Mr. Mercado, you seem very happy today," one of the guards said to me. I simply smiled sweetly, as if I had just won the lottery. My phone suddenly rang, and when I saw who was calling, my smile grew even wider. I immediately answered the call. "Hello!" I greeted cheerfully. "Hello, Mr. Mercado. Everything is ready. We’re just waiting for you," said the person on the line, making me even happier. "Okay, I'm coming," I said before ending the call. I turned to the security guards to give them an important instruction. "Guards!" I called out to the two of them. "Yes, sir?" "Yes, sir?" They answered simultaneously. "Do not let Tanya Snow inside, understand?" I ordered them firmly. "Yes, sir!" "Yes, sir!" They replied at the same time again, making me grin widely. "Very good! If you carry out my order well, I’ll give you a bonus later. So, make sure you do what I asked," I added, and they nodded eagerly. "Thank you in advance, sir!" they said gratefully, which pleased me even more. As I entered the elevator, I couldn’t stop smiling—the smile of someone who already tasted victory. Even inside the elevator, my happiness was clear. Finally, the company I had long dreamed of would soon be mine. Moments later, I arrived at the conference room where the board members were already waiting for the meeting. I entered with a wide smile plastered across my face. "Good morning, everyone!" I greeted the room brightly. "Good morning, Mr. Mercado. But why did you call for a meeting?" Mrs. Chow asked. "You seem eager, Mrs. Chow. I called this meeting because I want to propose that we replace our CEO. I also want us to vote on who should take over the position," I said confidently. My statement caused a wave of murmuring among the board members, and I raised an eyebrow, observing their reactions. "But why should we replace the CEO? She’s doing a good job managing the company. What’s your reason, Mr. Mercado?" Mr. Reyes questioned. "Isn’t it enough that she doesn’t even attend our meetings? We don’t even really know who she is, and—" I didn’t get to finish my sentence because Tanya Snow suddenly barged into the room. I clenched my fists secretly at her unexpected arrival. 'Damn it! How did this woman get in? I gave clear orders to the guards not to let her in!' I cursed internally. While my mind and heart boiled with anger, I wanted to throw Tanya out immediately. I couldn’t let her ruin my plan—after all, she was the CEO's right hand. 'This wretched woman! How does she even know about today’s meeting? She must have a strong instinct. No! I need to get rid of her before she exposes everything I’ve done!' I ranted in my head. Tanya was talking about something, but I didn’t catch a word—too busy thinking of ways to remove her from the scene. 'Is she threatening me right now?' I thought bitterly. 'Wait... something's wrong. That smile of hers... it means something. Sh*t! I think I need to get out of here!' Panic started creeping into my mind as I glanced nervously at the door. Then I heard her mention a name—a name I thought I had erased long ago—Anastasia Clinton, the only daughter of my former friend. 'How is she alive? I had her killed through my men! Sh*t, I need to get out of here,' I said to myself, panic gripping me. I was about to stand when the door opened—and there she was. The CEO herself. The owner of this building. And she wasn’t just anybody—she was a close friend of my so-called goddaughter, Katrina. A confident smile spread across my face. Surely, with my ties to Katrina, she wouldn’t easily remove me from my position. I smiled at the woman, but she didn’t even return it. Instead, she looked at me with eyes so cold that a shiver ran down my spine and cold sweat broke out all over me. 'What kind of look is that?' I thought nervously. 'It's making me uneasy. No way... does she already know about the money I’ve been stealing from the company? I need to find an alibi—a way to dodge the trap I made for myself.' As she spoke to the board members, everyone—including me—was left stunned. If Tanya was good, Anastasia Clinton was a master. Her words were sharp, her explanations crisp. Even I couldn’t help but admire her intelligence and skill in business. I saw the admiration in the eyes of my fellow board members. Gone was the clueless Anastasia I used to know—the naïve girl who could easily be fooled even in front of her own face. The woman standing before us now was strong, fierce, and confident. 'I’m screwed,' I realized grimly. 'I have to leave before they find out what I’ve done.' I prepared to stand again when suddenly— "Ahem, Mr. Mercado," she called my name. My face drained of all color.Chapter 83 For six months we happily lived together—almost like we were already married. The twins continued with their schooling, but only through online classes. As I recalled the past months, I couldn’t help but notice that whenever Carmen came to visit, that was when my beloved’s jealousy would flare up. She didn’t allow any woman to even talk to me. Still, I never got angry or disappointed. In fact, I felt happy, because it meant she was keeping me all to herself. “Remember this, Dave—no woman owns you except me alone,” she told me, which sent shivers of excitement through me. How sweet it was to hear those words. Months passed and my wounds finally healed, so I sent the four nurses back to the Philippines. Ana and I didn’t worry about our business because my father, and her parents, were in Spain handling the company for us. Meanwhile, Ana recalled her secretary from vacation after granting her some time off. “Daddy!” my daughter Xenna called. “Quando dabis mihi fratrem min
Chapter 82 –After we finished breakfast, I immediately invited my wife and kids to stay with me at the mansion so they could move more comfortably.I saw the excitement in the eyes of my twins when they found out I had a mansion here in Italy. They quickly asked permission to pack their things.Meanwhile, Ana grabbed her phone, saying she needed to call her secretary and tell her to stay at their house for now, and that she would only be contacted when it was time to return to Spain. Not long after, I called my staff and instructed them to carry the luggage of my family to the car.As soon as we stepped into the elevator, my twins began chatting happily. I couldn’t understand what they were saying since it was in another language, but I saw Ana trying to hold back her laughter as she listened."Frater, quid cogitas de tata?" (“Brother, what do you think about Dad?”) Xenna asked her twin."Est sicut turtur cum belli infirmi," (“He’s like a turtle who’s weak at making moves,”) he repli
Chapter 81 Overjoyed, I immediately called for a doctor so my wound could heal quickly and I could recover fast—to attend to our wedding plans as soon as possible."Love!" he called out to me, making my ears instantly turn red. "Should I ask where our room is?" he added with a grin. I quickly averted my gaze, afraid he might notice that I was flustered when he called me Love.I cleared my throat before speaking. "Ahem, it's next to the twins' room," I answered."Come on, let’s sleep now so you can rest," he invited me, and I looked at him, still in disbelief that he said that."W-we're sleeping together?" I asked, thinking maybe I just misheard."Aish! Looks like you don’t want to. Fine, I’ll just go sleep with the twins," he said as he turned around to head back to the room he came from.Barely two seconds passed before I quickly responded, "Who wouldn’t want that? Come on, let’s sleep!" I said, smiling. He immediately came over and helped me walk to the room I had pointed to. Even
Chapter 80I immediately brought them to my office so they could stay there. It's spacious, with two rooms, so we wouldn't be cramped in one bed if we were to sleep. I pressed the top button on the elevator, and we soon arrived at my office. I then entered the password to open the door.Upon entering, the twins immediately ran to the glass wall, where they could see the entire ocean and the expanse of the city. It's a whole floor, so they had a clear view of everything outside."Wow, it's beautiful here, Dad. Mom, let's get our things from our room and move here," Xenna said to her mother. I favored her suggestion to her mother."Why do you want twins? Do it if you think you'll be happy. I'm happy too!"Ana replied to our twins. They were about to leave to get their things, but I stopped them, telling them my staff would retrieve their belongings. They nodded in agreement. I immediately called my employee at the hotel and had them get their things. As the day passed, it was already 6
Chapter 79EARLY MORNING: I woke up early to get things ready. I got up and went to the bathroom slowly because the doctor forbade me from straining my body. So I moved carefully to wash my face and brush my teeth.Afterward, I immediately called a nurse to help me get dressed properly, as my wound was still a little sore from yesterday's exertion. A nurse arrived and gave me medicine to relieve the pain. Even though my wound was still fresh, I didn't mind because getting my wife and children back was more important.I immediately told my staff that we were leaving to go to the GEMELLI PALAZZESE RESTAURANT.Our trip wasn't long; we arrived at the restaurant quickly. It was trending because of my chefs' antics, which made it popular. Upon arrival, I told the employees that when my wife and children arrived, they should act like ordinary customers and serve them well. I had my chef cook their three favorite dishes. They needed to be served when they arrived in the VIP room so that the t
Chapter 78"Are you alright, son?" my father asked as I woke up. I looked around and my gaze fell on the wall clock.'It's already 6 pm,' I thought."Water, please, Dad!" I said."Just a moment, I'll get some," he immediately left my side, so I slowly got up. I winced in pain in my chest."Don't move too suddenly, you need to rest," my dad said, handing me the water.I immediately drank it and gave him back the glass."Dad!" I called out, causing him to stop his pacing and turn to me. "I want to see my wife and children," I said. But he sighed and spoke."Hay! They're not here anymore. After what she witnessed, she and your twins decided to leave the country to protect the children. There was nothing I could do, so I respected her decision, son!" I sat up straight because of what my father said.I was about to stand up when he stopped me."Don't stand up yet, son! You might reopen your wounds," he said, but I wouldn't be stopped because I didn't want to lose them again; it would kill
