Chapter 5
Tanya’s POV I’m so excited to see their reactions when they meet the real CEO in person, I thought to myself as I watched the CCTV footage inside the office where we were waiting for the perfect time to act. When Mr. Mercado entered, I immediately moved into action. I exited Ana’s office — where we had been staying along with the twins — and everything was already in place. Even the security guards were informed of our plan, and no matter how much Mr. Mercado tried to manipulate them, it wouldn’t work because they were all under Ana’s command. When I got to the door, I pushed it open casually, as if it was nothing. "Good morning, everyone. I’m sorry if I’m late. If I hadn't gone early to my boss’s office, I wouldn’t have known that there was a meeting here today, right, Mr. Mercado?" I said with sarcasm. "May I ask what the agenda is for THIS meeting, Mr. Mercado?" I emphasized the words "THIS meeting" to make it clear that I disapproved of his reckless summoning of the board members and declaring it a "meeting" without the CEO's knowledge. Well, it worked in our favor — now we could reveal everything at once, including his embezzlement from the company. "Ehem! We discussed replacing our CEO to further grow this company," he said, making me raise my eyebrow. Tsk! Such an audacious fool, I thought. "And why is that, Mr. Mercado? What’s your proposal?" I asked him, tauntingly. "Because she’s always absent. She has no time for her work; she doesn’t even monitor the happenings here. In fact, we’ve never even seen her," he said, making me smile. "Be careful with your words, Mr. Mercado. Yes, she might not be present at occasions or business meetings, but she has eyes and ears all around us. She knows how you’ve been slandering her to our business partners. So I suggest you stand by your words because, as of this moment, she is fully aware of everything happening — both inside and outside this company. Prepare yourself, Mr. Mercado," I said, making him visibly pale and sweat profusely. That’s right, you fool. You better start getting scared now before I even call the person you're going up against, I thought as I stared at the now nervous Mr. Mercado. Hmmm, looks like this fool is planning to leave… let’s see if you can escape without the others finding out everything, I added silently. "Alright! Let’s have a vote, but it would be unfair not to include our CEO. So everyone, please welcome our one and only CEO and rightful heir of the Clinton Company — Ms. Anastasia Clinton," I announced, looking towards the conference room door. At the same time the door opened, everyone turned their attention to Ms. Clinton, who walked gracefully to the front of the room and immediately started speaking — the entrance was flawless, like always. "I’m very disappointed in you, Mr. Mercado! By the way, my name is Anastasia Clinton, the CEO and owner of this company. Before you proceed with your agenda, I have a few things to say, Mr. Mercado. Ms. Show, please prepare the files," she commanded. When it came to business matters, we always maintained a professional demeanor, showing no smiles or unnecessary expressions. This was why many business partners were intimidated by us, especially by Ana. "Okay, Ma'am," I replied briefly and immediately did as she asked. I distributed the copies to everyone and went to the front to turn on the projector so she could present the discussion to the board members. "Everyone, listen and focus on the projector. Play it, Ms. Show," Ana instructed, and I quickly played the presentation. As she explained everything, many were impressed by her business proposal — everyone even started applauding, myself included. Even I admired her brilliance in the business field. Many had tried to bring her down, but they all failed. In fact, their plots backfired on them, resulting in their own downfall. That’s why so many were afraid to go up against Ana's business empire. There were many rumors that the owner of AC (Anastasia Clinton) was a reclusive old maid, supposedly very unattractive, which explained why she never attended any public events. In those events, I was always the one sent in her place. Many were curious why the sole heir of the Clinton Company had never made a public appearance. People often asked me if they could meet or even just talk to Ms. Clinton, but I always had the same answer: "The right time will come for her to introduce herself." That was always my response. Sometimes they even conducted investigations to dig up information about Ana, but they always failed. Even hacking attempts were unsuccessful. You see, it wasn’t easy to get any details about Ana’s life — after all, the person they were trying to hack was a heavyweight hacker herself. Instead, the tables often turned, and it was them who ended up getting exposed. Many businesses collapsed because of their attempts to breach Ana’s privacy. Because of that, no one dared to dig into her life anymore. Instead, many sought to partner with her, hoping to work with the legendary heiress of the Clinton Company — the woman feared by even the biggest businessmen because of her exceptional intelligence and business prowess.Chapter 79EARLY MORNING: I woke up early to get things ready. I got up and went to the bathroom slowly because the doctor forbade me from straining my body. So I moved carefully to wash my face and brush my teeth.Afterward, I immediately called a nurse to help me get dressed properly, as my wound was still a little sore from yesterday's exertion. A nurse arrived and gave me medicine to relieve the pain. Even though my wound was still fresh, I didn't mind because getting my wife and children back was more important.I immediately told my staff that we were leaving to go to the GEMELLI PALAZZESE RESTAURANT.Our trip wasn't long; we arrived at the restaurant quickly. It was trending because of my chefs' antics, which made it popular. Upon arrival, I told the employees that when my wife and children arrived, they should act like ordinary customers and serve them well. I had my chef cook their three favorite dishes. They needed to be served when they arrived in the VIP room so that the t
Chapter 78"Are you alright, son?" my father asked as I woke up. I looked around and my gaze fell on the wall clock.'It's already 6 pm,' I thought."Water, please, Dad!" I said."Just a moment, I'll get some," he immediately left my side, so I slowly got up. I winced in pain in my chest."Don't move too suddenly, you need to rest," my dad said, handing me the water.I immediately drank it and gave him back the glass."Dad!" I called out, causing him to stop his pacing and turn to me. "I want to see my wife and children," I said. But he sighed and spoke."Hay! They're not here anymore. After what she witnessed, she and your twins decided to leave the country to protect the children. There was nothing I could do, so I respected her decision, son!" I sat up straight because of what my father said.I was about to stand up when he stopped me."Don't stand up yet, son! You might reopen your wounds," he said, but I wouldn't be stopped because I didn't want to lose them again; it would kill
Chapter 77Dave's POV"Where am I?" I asked myself as I walked down a dark path, unable to see a single light. Then I heard a voice, my mother's voice, as if she was calling me. So I quickened my pace down the dark path. I smiled when I saw a light ahead, and that's where my mother's voice came from. As I approached, my steps grew heavier and heavier as I walked towards the light, until I reached it and saw my mother playing with a young boy who had a smile on his face. But when I blinked, it suddenly disappeared. What I saw was different. It wasn't my mother anymore, but a woman in uniform who looked like she was studying at a university."Anastasia!" a man called out. But I was confused by what I saw because that man was me. "My love!" he called again. Then she turned towards me with a smile, even giving a flying kiss and waving."She's beautiful, isn't she, son?" I turned to the person speaking beside me."Mom!" I said, hugging her tightly. "I miss you so much, Mom!" I said, tears
Chapter 76I quickly invited them inside, while Viña said she wanted to go home first, so I just let her.THE NEXT DAY.The following day, I immediately prepared the twins because they were the ones who would attend the meeting in my place. In fact, they were even more excited than I was. I wasn’t sure if they could explain everything clearly enough to gain trust and close the deals.“Are you ready, Twins?” I asked them.“Yes, Mommy!” Xenna answered enthusiastically. Xenno, however, I couldn't tell if he was nervous or not—he had no expression on his face. His aura was serious, just like his father whenever he had something important to do.I suddenly missed him. It had only been two days, yet I already missed him so much.“I wonder how he is now…” I whispered to myself.“Let’s go, Mom,” Xenno said, snapping me back to reality. We immediately left the hotel and headed to a trending restaurant that our meeting partner had requested. I flagged down a vehicle and instructed the driver wh
Chapter 75Who wouldn’t want to give a reward when they're this sweet and affectionate? All the fatigue disappears when they’re the ones welcoming you home from work."The twins are so sweet and affectionate," I told the two of them. "By the way, twins, I have a business trip to Italy tomorrow," I added."Cuántas semanas llevas ahí mamá?" ("How many weeks will you be there, Mom?") Xenno asked. "Rest first, Mommy, put rest first because we just arrived from the Philippines yesterday," he added."Kuya is right, Mommy. You need to rest first. The twins will take care of your business trip," Xenna told me."Please trust me and the twins, Mommy. We’ll make sure to close the deal immediately. So trust us with the twins," Xenno added. "So you can rest. We don’t want you to get sick, Mommy."I smiled at what Xenno said. "Twins, Mommy will never get tired, because the ones who always give me strength are you and your twin," I told them. "So Mommy gets stronger because you two are always by my
Chapter 74 I didn’t prolong our meeting. I quickly discussed everything we needed to tackle.“La reunión ha terminado, puedes irte.” ("The meeting is over, you may leave.") I told everyone."Viña, por favor toma mis cosas y llévalas a mi oficina," ("Viña, please take my things and bring them to my office,") I ordered her."La sigo señora." ("Yes, Madam.")I left the conference room ahead of them and went to my office to review the documents I needed to sign. While entering the elevator, I noticed a janitress clutching her stomach, clearly in pain. I immediately approached her."Señora! ¿Estás bien?" ("Ma’am! Are you okay?") I asked, but she didn’t respond. Suddenly, she collapsed, and thankfully, I caught her in time. I quickly checked her pulse, relieved to find it still beating. Then I saw Viña carrying my things and called out to her,"Ven aquí, date prisa," ("Viña! Come here, hurry.") She quickly came to where I was."Llama al Departamento de Salud y envíalos a ver cómo está la m
