I stirred in my sleep, feeling warm and tucked against Adrian's side. The gentle rush of the air conditioner, the weight of the warm blanket, the comfort of his presence,it all felt safe. Until it didn't. I started hearing soft sounds that broke the peaceful silence I had. They were repetitive, strange and rhythmic. I blinked my eyes open, feeling confused about where the sounds were coming from. I glanced at my boyfriend Adrian and found out he wasn't sleeping. He was sitting up,his body leaned to the headboard phone in his hands, his eyes were glued to the screen. The screen glow illuminated his face. I scooted closer to him to see what he was so focused on looking at. And what I saw made my stomach twist. He was watching other girls! Naked girls moaning. I felt sick all of sudden. I had the urge to throw up instantly. I sat up slowly, my chest feeling unimaginable pain. āAdrian⦠are you serious right now? How could you do this?ā He barely glanced at me,his eyes still glued to the screen. āDon't start now!" āWhat the hell is this?" I demanded,my voice rising. āI'm literally right here Adrian!" He rolled his eyes āit's not a big deal. Guys do this, it's normal" āNormal? What the fuck is wrong with you Adrian? Normal? While your girlfriend is sleeping next to you?" My voice cracked with anger. āDo you even hear yourself?" He snapped. He shoved me out of bed, hard enough that I landed with a loud thud. āStop acting like a damn saint Elena! It's because you're so boring that I resort to jerking off instead of you. Maybe if you were even a little more exciting,I wouldn't have to watch other girls to please myself!" I gasped, tears stinging my eyes. I always knew that Adrian was a cold manipulative asshole but today he was worse. I wiped my tears from my face. " I'm done. We're done Adrian!ā I expected regret, remorse, maybe even an apology from him but instead all I got from him was a cold sadistic laugh. " Go ahead. I don't fucking care. Get out,you were just taking up my space anywaysā I stood there in disbelief that I had Loved this Man for two years even though he was an asshole. I stood for a few seconds hoping, maybe he'd realize what he had done but all I saw was disdain in his eyes. So I left. It was raining when I stepped outside with nothing but my phone and a handbag. I will come tomorrow to take my things. My fingers trembled as I dialed Lexi, my friend. āHello?" Lexi's sleepy voice came through. āCan I stay over?" I whispered. āI don't want to be alone" āWhat happened to you Ellie?" Her voice came more clearer now. " I'll tell you when I met youā. I answered her in small voice. " Come,I'm waiting for youā I hung up the phone as I took a taxi to Lexi's apartment. When I reached there,I found her waiting anxiously at her doorstep. I didn't hesitate to launch myself into her, sobbing. Few minutes later,we went inside,we sat on two seater couch. I told Lexi everything that had happened between me and Adrian. " Honestly⦠I always knew he was a douchebag" she sighed before continuing āSo what are you going to do now?" ā I have enough money to rent an apartment. I just want a fresh start." She nodded. āOkay! Let's sleep now, and we'll begin apartment hunting tomorrow". ā„ā ā The next morning,I woke up to the smell of coffee. I sat on the couch, folding the blanket I used Last night. I was busy watching the steam curling from the mug she placed Infront of me,when Lexi nudged me. āYou okay?" She nervously asked, fearing I might have a breakdown soon. I nodded slowly,āI'm okay, Thank you". She grinned and grabbed her laptop. āLet's find you a place to live girl! Something with artistic vibes". An hour later we stumbled on a poster nailed to a cracked community board outside the coffee shop. āTenant needed for a private room in a shared mansion. Quite tenants only! Rent negotiable inquire within". The photo showed a large, gothic style mansion with towering windows and curling iron gates. Most people would have found it creepy, but nope! Not me. There was something beautiful about it like I was stepping into a painting. This place will be perfect for me to find an inspiration. āOkay! This is it!" I said while clapping my hands, feeling excited all of sudden. āSeriously?" Lexi squinted her eyes,ā it looks like Dracula's summer house!ā I grinned " it's perfect!ā ~~~~~~~~ Next day,I stood Infront of the towering doors of the mansion. My bags in my hands. The doors creaked open before I could raise my hand to knock and a woman who looked like she was in her mid fifties, her hair was tied in a neat bun. " You must be Elena,ā she said " come inā I stepped into the beautiful foyer, surveying the high ceilings and the antique furniture. Living in a place like this, with just a normal rent,is a dream come true! " I'm Claire, the housekeeper. I'll show you to your room but first⦠Rules!ā I nodded. " Mr Cruor, the landlord is⦠particular," she said carefully. āHe's a neat freak,so clean up after yourself. No loud music,no guests and absolutely,no staying out past 9 pm". Wait what?? I'm renting a room, not a dorm room. I blinked. āWaitā¦9pm? Why?ā. She gave me a stern look. " Trust me, it's for your own good!ā Something about the way she said it,made a chill run down my spine but still nodded. A fresh start. That's what I needed now! Miss Claire's heels echoed against the polished marble floors as she led me down a long hallway lit by candles. Okayā¦This place seemed straight out of horror movie. It was elegant as well as mysterious. Just my type! āYour room," Claire said, stopping at a black wooden door. " Bathroom's across the hall. Kitchen is downstairs. Mr Cruor's quarters are on the West Wing. You'll not go thereā. She handed me a brass key. " Stay on your side of the house. He doesn't like peopleā. Why rent his house if he doesn't like people? I almost laughed but her tone made me knew she wasn't joking. " Got it! Thanksā I pushed the door open. The room was surprisingly cozy with dark wooden furniture,a window seat, closet and a dressing table. I let my bags down and wondered to the window. the vines crawled the stone walls to the gate. A fresh start. I reminded myself. No more Adrian,no more crying in the bathroom. Just peace!Elenaās POVāIām picking you up in ten minutes, Elena. No excuses,ā Lexiās voice buzzed through the phone speaker, sharp and playful.I glanced toward the tall window of the mansion. The pale morning light filtered through silk curtains. My thoughts lingered on Silas how heād left last night without offering more than a few vague words and a glance that felt like a goodbye.I hadnāt seen him since the kiss.I didnāt regret it. But the way he pulled away after it haunted me,but at least he didn't look disgusted.Still, Lexi wouldnāt let me rest.āAlright,ā I said softly, pulling my jacket over my shoulders. ā Give me ten minutes .āTen minutes turned to eight when Lexiās car pulled into the long gravel path with a speed that made Miss Claire flinch from the porch. I waved apologetically as I jogged out, the cool air biting my cheeks.Lexi leaned out of the driverās seat window, her platinum hair pulled into a messy bun, sunglasses too big for her face. āYou look like someone just broke
Silasās POVThe wind howled through the trees, sharp and cold as it cut against my skin. I stood at the edge of the forest, staring at the tall, dark shape of the castle in the distance. It stood hidden deep in the Carpathian Mountains, far away from any human city or road. Mortals didnāt even know this place existed. And even if they did, most would never dare to step near it. But this castle wasnāt new to me.I had shed my blood on those stone floors,I had broken bones fighting in its cold courtyard. And within those high, ancient walls, I had learned what it meant to kill. What it meant to survive!I took a slow step forward, my boots crunching on the frozen gravel, ice covered the path. The tall black gates in front of me swung open before I could even reach them. the one inside already knew I had arrived. He always knew. The heavy door creaked open as I stepped into the grand hall. Shadows hung in the air like smoke. Dust didnāt settle here and time didnāt seem to touch this pl
Elenaās POVThe mansion was too quiet.I wandered from room to room, barefooted, the hem of my long sweater brushing my thighs as I clutched a cup of lukewarm tea Iād forgotten to drink. I hadnāt seen Silas since our kitchen conversation. And now, he was gone again.āSilas?ā I called softly.Nothing.The shadows seemed deeper tonight more haunting. The wind outside howled against the windows, like it was warning me of something. I paused by the main hallway and noticed a door I hadnāt seen before. It was large, old, made of dark wood and marked with a faint symbol that looked like it had been carved .Something about it pulled me in I reached for the handleāāElena.āI froze that voice, that cold, controlled voice that somehow still made my chest flutter.I turned around slowly and found Silas standing behind me, half in the shadows, dressed in black like always. His face was unreadable. Only his eyes held intensity emotions that made my heart stutter.āDonāt ever try to open that
Elenaās POVThe old grandfather clock in the mansion hallway struck midnight. A deep, echoing sound that made the silence in the mansion feel heavier than usual.I hadn't been able to sleep. Not since that woman and man Lilith and Lucario came and vanished into Silasās room like they owned it. Their presence had set my nerves on fire. And Silas? He hadnāt spoken to me since last night. No teasing remarks,no faint smiles, not even a glance.I found myself pacing the hallway outside my room like a ghost, waiting for something to happen⦠until I heard the sound of water running in the kitchen.I followed it,I don't know why I did that but maybe it was the need of seeing Silas again. There, in the dim light of the kitchen, Silas stood at the sink, he was shirtless, washing his hands. His back muscles moved with an unnatural grace, and for a second, I forgot every reason I was mad at him.He looked tired, paler than usual and worn.I stepped in quietly, but he noticed me right away. He alw
Silas's POVI sat at the edge of the bed, one hand gripping the armrest, the other clenched into a fist so tight my nails had sliced through skin. The pain had grounded me but barely.Every nerve in my body burned. My throat was like swallowing a pit of fire. I hadn't fed in over two weeks far beyond what was safe, even for me. And last night⦠I had nearly lost control.Elena.I could still taste her on my tongue. Sweet. Innocent, warm. Like sunlight after centuries of darkness.I hated myself for it.She didnāt even realize what I was, what I truly was. And yet she trusted me enough to sneak into my room, to check on me like I was human. That trust burned worse than the thirst ever could.I sat there lost in my thoughts trying to ignore the burning feeling of hunger in my body when the door opened without permission.Only two people dared do that.āSilas,ā came the voice that was cold and very familiar.I didnāt have to look up,I knew the scent of jasmine, old paper, and death any
⣠Elenaās POV⣠I slammed the door behind me, my chest heaving,my heart rattling like a trapped bird in my ribcage. Silasās voice still echoed in my ears , his voice was low, rough, and sharp with warning. It hadnāt just been anger,it was pain. Something had been breaking behind those cold, glacial eyes. I leaned against the hallway wall, trying to make sense of what just happened. He had flipped me to the bed. He had looked at me like⦠like he wanted me. No, hungered for me. But then he stopped,He backed away as if my very presence could kill him. The image of him slumped by the window burned into my mind. Sweat glistening on his temple, his shirt clinging to his body like second skin, his harsh and erratic breathing. Iād never seen Silas like that. The Silas I knew or I thought I knew was sharp, composed, untouchable. This Silas looked like a man at war with himself. I pressed my fingers to my neck. There was nothing there. No bite,no mark. But something about his closenes
