Miley's POV

By the time we reached the driveway, my hands were numb from gripping Nico’s. I hadn’t said a single word the entire ride home. I couldn’t. My mouth worked but nothing came out. All I could hear was that gunshot… and his voice:

“Emily Godfrey.”

It echoed even louder than the shot.

Nico killed the engine and stepped out first, circling to my side. The second he opened my door, the dam finally broke. My legs gave out. Completely. I would have collapsed onto the gravel if he hadn’t caught me at the last possible second.

His arms curved under my knees, lifting me effortlessly against his chest.

“Nico—”

“I’ve got you,” he said, jaw tense with barely controlled rage. “Just breathe.”

I buried my face in his shirt as he carried me toward the house, my heart pounding so violently I thought it might crack my ribs. My skin still felt like it was vibrating with adrenaline. I’ve faced death before. I’ve felt fear.

But this… this was betrayal in its purest form.

Emily.

  • Mafia King's Contract Wife: The Angel of Revenge   Ch-112: In hindsight

Nico’s POVThe car hummed softly as I maneuvered through the slick streets. Rain streaked the windshield, each drop like a bullet, reminding me that patience wasn’t just a virtue—it was survival. I gripped the wheel tighter, eyes scanning every shadow, every reflection. Miley had been pushing herself harder than anyone should. And now, Emily was back in the mix, meddling, panicked, desperate.I felt her presence before I saw her. Her energy, even through my instincts alone, radiated worry and intensity, like a storm in human form. I knew she was already deep in whatever mess her mind had tangled itself into.I glanced at the rearview mirror. Tulio was quietly dozing in the backseat, oblivious to the tension that thickened the cabin like mist. I exhaled slowly. I couldn’t let him see any cracks. Not now.Miley’s texts had been clipped, precise, almost detached. But I felt the weight behind each word, the tension she tried so hard to hide. I hadn’t even left the driveway before I could

  • Mafia King's Contract Wife: The Angel of Revenge   Ch-111: Hooded

Miley's POV The rain had stopped by the time I reached Church Street again, but the air still smelled of wet stone and secrets. My boots left damp marks as I stepped into the narrow alley, the kind of place that carried whispers long after people were gone. Every time I returned here, I felt as though the street was tugging me deeper, pulling threads I wasn’t ready to untangle. I kept my hood up, hands buried in my coat pockets, clutching the small notebook I’d started filling with connections, names, fragments of conversations that might mean nothing—or everything. Emily’s panic-stricken face at the last gathering replayed in my mind like a broken reel. She knew something. Maybe she knew everything. And if she was unraveling, that meant I was getting close. I pushed open the rusted gate of an abandoned chapel. The hinges groaned like they hadn’t been touched in years, though the faint trail of footprints in the mud told me otherwise. Someone had been here recently. My chest tight

  • Mafia King's Contract Wife: The Angel of Revenge   Ch-110: Rain

Miley’s POVRain pelted Church Street like bullets, bouncing off the pavement and soaking through my coat before I even had a chance to zip it up. My boots squelched against the waterlogged cobblestones as I stepped deeper into the alley, clutching the small umbrella I’d pulled from the car. Every flickering streetlight cast shadows that leapt and twisted in the puddles. I knew I shouldn’t feel this exposed, not after years of navigating the shadows of other people’s lies—but the truth had a way of leaving me raw, unshielded. I paused beneath the narrow overhang of a shuttered café, trying to steady my breathing. The ledger I had found yesterday, wedged between piles of old invoices at my mother’s last studio, was still in my bag, damp from the drizzle. Every page I had skimmed hinted at a meticulous record of suppliers, names, payments—some marked with tiny symbols I didn’t yet understand. One mark in particular caught my eye: a small rose beside a shipment of gemstones, the kind th

  • Mafia King's Contract Wife: The Angel of Revenge   Ch-109: Playing dirty

Miley's POV The rain had slowed to a drizzle by the time I reached Church Street, but the pavement still glistened like polished obsidian. The neon signs reflected in every puddle, colors bending and bleeding together, like even the city wanted to keep its secrets blurred. My boots splashed softly with every step, but my mind was anything but quiet. Every corner here carried a shadow, and every shadow felt like it was watching me.Church Street was never just a street to me. It was a memory etched in stone and brick, lined with whispers from the past. The tall spire of the church stood at the far end, looming like a sentinel, and the rows of shuttered shops looked abandoned even though I knew some of them hid business done in whispers after midnight. Father used to bring me here. He’d hold my hand so tight I couldn’t breathe, and even as a little girl I knew better than to ask why we were here or who those men he met were. Monsters don’t like questions.I paused near the bakery that

  • Mafia King's Contract Wife: The Angel of Revenge   Ch-108: Church Street

Miley's POV I don’t know what possessed me to come here at this hour, but Church Street had always carried a strange pull for me. The rain-slicked pavement glistened under the faint orange glow of the streetlights, and the old cathedral loomed ahead like a watchful sentinel. Its spire pierced the stormy sky, almost accusing, as though reminding me of sins I hadn’t yet confessed. My heels clicked against the wet stone, too loud for my own liking, echoing into the silence where no voices should exist.I tightened my coat around me, feeling the night wind cut through the fabric. Church Street was nearly deserted at this time. A stray dog limped across the narrow lane and disappeared into an alley. A street vendor’s cart, long abandoned, stood with its wheels half-sunk into the mud, its tarp flapping with every gust of wind. My heart thudded harder the closer I drew to the church. This was the place where whispers always led me. Where people claimed Isabella had been seen the last time b
