LOGINI still can’t believe how I ended up agreeing with my father and grandpa’s plan on pretending to be the missing wife of that mafia boss. Well, it’s all because of the company. I’d rather lose my dignity than our company.
“Alright, so we have to start first with Charlotte Greene’s background. She was born in New York City in December 1997. She actually has an older brother named Luke Greene who is a doctor. Her mom died from cancer and her dad left them when she was just ten for another woman.”
I was listening intently to the woman who my dad and grandpa assigned to help me be Charlotte Greene in one month. I need to know everything about her to pass the stupid plan.
“She met Sylus at a club one time when she was having fun with her friends. As you can see, Charlotte is a jolly and playful woman. Based on what we have researched, she actually had ten boyfriends but none of them lasted three months aside from Sylus which became her husband later on.”
Ten boyfriends? How can she even afford to deal with so many men when I can’t even stand dealing with one?
“If you want to be Charlotte Greene, then you have to act like her. I will let you watch a few videos of her where you would be able to see the way he smiles, laughs, and even the way he mingles with people. You need to take note of those things since those are the first ones that the people who really knows her might notice.”
She turned on the projector and a video of Charlotte Greene with her friends, probably in high school suddenly flashed. They were laughing while eating a sandwich. Just from watching the video, I can already say that she really is a jolly woman. She seems to be so close with her friends and she laughs easily. Something that I am not.
In the next video was her and her family. It looks like they were celebrating her birthday and she was smiling hugely then hugged her brother who seemed to not really liking the skinship.
My eyes widened when the camera focused on her brother’s face.
Shit.
That man.
H-He is my first love.
“Now, are you familiar with Charlotte Greene already? Do you think you would be able to play her role as a sibling, wife, and as a mom?”
“W-Well, it would be challenging for me, but nothing is impossible. If you help me enough, then I would be able to accomplish the task without sweating a lot.’
“Of course, we are going to help you no matter what happens.”
I nodded my head, “Alright. This is all for the company, anyway. Is this all for today?”
“Yes. Tomorrow, you need to know how to dress and look exactly like Charlotte. As you can see, you resemble each other so much, but the only difference is the way you dress and the mole on your right cheek. Charlotte’s mole is on the left side of her cheek.”
“Okay.”
As soon as the woman finally left, I let out a deep sigh and leaned on the couch where I was sitting.
Am I even doing this right? Is it a right decision for me to agree on pretending as someone else’s wife?
Then I suddenly remembered about Luke Greene. I used to attend the same school with him back when I was in middle school. He was quite smart and popular back then that is why even though we never got to talk to each other, I still liked him.
Since he is the brother of Charlotte Greene, for sure he would notice if something changed about his sister. I really need to study every single detail about Charlotte, so none of them would notice.
“Are you sure about that, Carmine? What if that mafia boss finds out that you are not his wife? He will definitely kill you, Carmine!” Mom said to me upon finding out about our plan.
“Mom that is why we hired someone to train me. In one month, I will be a different person.”
“I still don’t agree with that. You’re going to put your life at stake for the sake of the company?”
“Of course, I will. You know how important the company is for me. I’d rather lose everything than losing the company. Just believe me, mom. I can do this and I will be able to save the company.”
Mom shook her head, “You can think of any other solution, Carmine. Don’t do that. Don’t put your life in danger. I know Sylus Crivello and his father is known as the infamous mafia boss before. He killed a lot of people already. That is not impossible for him to do to you, too.”
“I’m so sorry mom, but I already made my mind. I’m going to do this for us, for the company, and for myself.”
In the end, mom left my apartment without saying a word. I know she got mad at what I told her, but I still won’t change my mind.
I am sure she will understand me eventually.
Before going to sleep, I have decided to read the files that Sarah sent me. Those files include every pieces of information about Charlotte Greene. There were even photos of her back when she was just a kid and I almost mistaken her as me again because of how much we look alike.
When I finally read most of the information in the file, it felt like I already met Charlotte in real life. She is the exact opposite of me. According to the pieces of information that I have read, she is willing to do everything for love. While me, I will do everything for my dreams.
But of course, I have to set aside my personal choices and beliefs because starting next month, I will be living as a completely different person.
I am no longer Carmine Clarke, but Charlotte Greene.
"Good morning, babe," the moment I woke up and opened my eyes, I immediately saw Sylus' smiling face in front of me. I quickly averted my gaze from him the moment I recalled what happened last night between the two of us. "M-Morning," I replied, pulling the blanket up to cover my body as if Sylus didn't see it all night long. I heard him chuckle. "It's too early in the morning to be blushing like that, babe." My eyes widened as I put my hands on my face. "I-I'm not blushing..." "Yes, you are. Looks like you remember what happened last night, huh?" "O-Of course, not..." "It's alright, babe. I can still remember it, too. And I want it to remain in my mind all year long." I glared at him. "S-Sylus!" "The breakfast is already served, babe. Let's go downstairs already." "I-I will take a bath first." "We can do that later." "W-What?" He looked at me nonchalantly, "We can take a bath together later. You can just put on any clothes then have our breakfast first bef
Slowly, I moved my face close to Sylus. He was just staring back at me, waiting for my next steps. I could feel my heart beating so fast as I stood on my toes and put both of my hands on his shoulders before I closed my eyes and pressed my lips against his. Sylus's lips were warm, firm, and tasted like whiskey and desire. He didn't move at first, like he was letting me lead. Then his arms wrapped around me, pulling me closer. The kiss was deep, hungry, like we were both starving for it. I felt like I was losing myself in him, in the taste of his lips, in the way he was holding me like I'd disappear if he let go. He pushed me back onto the bed, his body over mine. The kiss didn't break, like we were both afraid to breathe. I felt the weight of him, the heat of his skin through the thin shirt he wore. My heart was pounding so loud I was sure he'd hear it. Sylus's lips left mine, trailed down my neck. I felt shivers, like my whole body was alive. "Charlotte," he whispered,
The clock ticked past 2 AM. The suite was quiet, except for the soft hum of Sylus's laptop in the office room. I was lying in bed, pretending to sleep, but my eyes were fixed on the door. Finally, the office door opened. Sylus came out, looking exhausted but focused. He headed straight to the bathroom without looking at me. I heard the sound of water running, then the rustle of clothes. Sylus came out of the bathroom, wearing just a towel around his waist. He walked to the closet, his back to me. I decided to try talking to him. "Sylus?" I said, my voice soft. He didn't turn around. "Hmm?" he replied, his tone neutral. I sat up in bed, feeling a spark of frustration. "Can we talk?" I asked. Sylus pulled on a pair of sweatpants, still not looking at me. "Not now, Charlotte. I'm tired." I felt a sting. He was still avoiding me. I lay back down, trying to process things. But I wasn't going to let it go that easily. A few minutes passed. Sylus got into bed, careful not
Carmine's POVI let out a deep sigh as soon as Sylus stepped out of our room. I still can't forget what he just told me. He said he was really suspicious of me. He even told me we would go back to my doctor to ask about the things that he is being suspicious about. Now I have to think of a better excuse for him not to go to a different doctor. If he does that, for sure I'm doomed."How did he find out about you going to a bar?" Luke asked me over the phone. Ever since he found out about my plan and real motive, Luke Greene became the one I always call whenever Sylus does something that would make him find out about my plan."He surely hired a private investigator for it. He is a mafia boss, it's not impossible for him to do that.""You're right. Then you have to be extra careful. Sylus is smart, and he always wants to get what he wants. Make sure you never let your guard down."I nodded my head as if Luke could actually see me. "I understand.""Also, you have to delete every conversa
I leaned back in my chair, sipping my coffee as I watched Charlotte walk into the dining hall. She looked like a ray of sunshine, her smile bright and carefree. But I knew better. I knew she was hiding something.I'd been suspicious for a while, but I couldn't quite put my finger on it. That was until I got the call from the private investigator I'd hired to dig into Charlotte's whereabouts for the past few weeks. I learned she always go to this apartment where an old lady resides at. But it was the phone that really caught my attention. The one she claimed she lost at the restaurant where they celebrated their parents' anniversary. I had my doubts, so I asked my assistant to check the restaurant's CCTV footage. And what I found out was that Charlotte didn't even lose her phone there.I felt a pang of disappointment, mixed with curiosity. What was she hiding? And why?I decided to dig deeper, to see if I could find any leads on where she might have actually lost the phone. I asked my
I woke up to an empty bed, the sheets beside me cold and rumpled. I sat up, rubbing my eyes, and looked around the room. No sign of Sylus. I wondered where he could be. I got out of bed and quickly got dressed, deciding to grab some breakfast downstairs. Maybe Sylus was waiting for me in the dining hall. As I walked into the hotel's dining hall, I spotted Sylus sitting at a table by the window, talking to someone on his phone. He glanced up, saw me, and his expression turned cold. He looked away, focusing back on his conversation. I felt a pang of confusion. What was wrong? I walked over to the buffet, grabbing some pastries and coffee, trying to look nonchalant. As I made my way to the table, Sylus ended his call and looked up at me. His eyes were guarded, and he didn't smile like he usually did. "Morning," I said, trying to sound cheerful as I sat down across from him. Sylus nodded, his expression neutral. "Morning." The tension was palpable, and I didn't like it. What
