Ice,

The night was shrouded in darkness as I hid inside an old building, clutching one of my deadly baby bolt-action sniper rifles.

My sights were trained on the figures below, engaged in an illicit negotiation in the depths of the dark alley. This syndicate was a notorious gang, untouchable by the law due to their corrupt connections. It was a rare opportunity to witness one of their members involved in such an illegal transaction in all my years as an assassin, hunting down criminals across the globe.

However, this time, I hesitated. Why? Because the man I was about to eliminate was none other than Mr. Alvin Barton, the father of my soon-to-be wife, Candice. She possessed captivating chocolate-colored eyes and a smile that radiated innocence.

The conflicting emotions surged within me as I grappled with the decision to fulfill my duty or spare him for the sake of Candice.

I still vividly recall Candice's initial rudeness towards me when we first crossed paths as children. Despite the years of pursuing her and tirelessly following her every move, she had always been elusive. But finally, she relented and gave me a chance.

However, there were aspects of my life that I couldn't reveal to her, even though she's my girlfriend.

I was part of the mafia organization known as Heart Steel, working as an assassin and a secret agent for the covert agency known as "Spider." It was a highly classified organization, and I held a prominent position within its ranks.

In my youth, I had tragically lost my sight in an accident. However, my family's financial constraints prevented me from undergoing the necessary operation. Everything changed when I was approached by the leader of Spider, who scouted children with exceptional potential worldwide. Being the youngest recruit, I spent almost five years waiting for a suitable donor. When the opportunity finally presented itself, I made the life-altering decision to undergo the procedure without my family's knowledge or consent.

At the time, it was my only opportunity to regain my eyesight and see again. Initially, I had doubted the sincerity of the group, believing that the team leader, Ryan, was simply bluffing.

However, I soon discovered the truth behind their operations. It turned out that "Spider" was a covert organization dedicated to hunting down and eliminating dangerous individuals.

And so, that's how I found myself becoming one of "Spider's" lethal assassins, driven by my newfound ability to see and fueled by the desire to bring justice to those who deserved it.

I focused my mind and took a deep breath, my sights still fixed on the man before me. However, doubt began to creep in. What would happen if Candice discovered that I had killed this man? And what about my mafia boss? Not to mention my friend Tiago Sanchez, who would surely condemn me if he ever learned that I was an undercover agent infiltrating the mob.

"Ice, what the fuck are you waiting for?" Ryan's voice interrupted my thoughts.

I tilted my head, trying to retain my composure. "Ryan, no one informed me that today's target on my hit list would be my father's fiancée," I responded calmly, yet the uncertainty lingered in my mind.

"If I had told you beforehand, you might have refused the assignment. But Ice, there's no one else as skilled as you in handling this job. Heart Steel won't ever know." Ryan's words hung in the air, urging me to follow through with the mission.

With a heavy sigh, I acknowledged that Ryan was right. I was indeed the only one capable of carrying out this mission. Fortunately, my exceptional skills were unknown to my colleagues at Heart Steel, ensuring that I wouldn't raise any suspicions.

Before I pulled the trigger, I took a moment to compose myself, inhaling deeply to steady my nerves. In a matter of seconds, my targets were lifeless, my bullets finding their mark with precision. Swiftly, I went about tidying up the scene, leaving no trace of my presence behind.

Eager to escape the scene, I hurriedly descended the stairs and made my way to my car, hastily speeding back to my hometown. I needed a few weeks to decompress and unwind.

As I drove, I found myself humming a tune, momentarily distracted by thoughts of the consequences of my actions earlier. However, a sudden loud bang in the vicinity snapped me back to reality, filling me with a sense of urgency and alertness.

Not far from where I pulled over, a BMW lay wrecked, and I quickly made my way towards the vehicle. Nearby, a goat lay motionless, a victim of the unfortunate collision.

To my surprise, the car door was already open, revealing a woman seated in the driver's seat. I checked to see if she was alright, but she remained unresponsive. Though she appeared uninjured, I decided it was best to take her to the hospital as a precaution. It was ironic that after causing harm earlier, I now found myself trying to save someone's life.

Carrying the unconscious girl, I hurried back to my car. Her disheveled hair obscured her face, but her fair complexion gave the impression that she hailed from a well-to-do family, perhaps the daughter of a prominent business owner in town.

When I offered to take her to the hospital, she refused, surprising me with her resilience and determination.

Ugh whatta girl…

She pleaded with me to lay her down, commanding me in a manner that felt unfamiliar, as though she were speaking to a servant. I tilted my head in surprise, as no one had ever addressed me in such a manner before.

When I carefully laid her in the back of my car, I finally caught a glimpse of her face. Her eyes possessed a gentle blue hue, resembling the depths of the ocean. Her face had a delicate heart shape, and her lips had a youthful pout. A simple yet adorable nose adorned her face. The scent of chamomile emanated from her messy, straight black hair, bringing a sense of calm to my senses. I couldn't explain it, but as I gazed at her, the world seemed to momentarily stand still.

As I noticed the slight transparency of her thin white long sleeve, I whispered to myself, "Oh, sweetie! One sin for my girlfriend was enough tonight.”

I felt the urgency to send her home quickly, not wanting to commit another sin. However, she insisted that she was merely a tourist in search of a place to stay.

"What the heck?" I muttered to myself, sensing that there was more to her story than just looking for temporary accommodation.

With shaky legs, she managed to slip out of my car after opening the side latch. I shouted after her, bewildered by her sudden departure as she made her way back to her own vehicle.

"Where the hell are you going, sweetie?" I called out, my voice filled with concern, as she headed towards her car.

"I'm just going to get my bag," she replied, her voice tinged with a hint of exasperation. "Relax... If you're not interested in me, you can leave me alone now."

I squinted my eyes in confusion. "What?" I blurted out unexpectedly, thinking I must have misheard her.

But no matter what she said, I couldn't just abandon her here. I had a gut feeling that if I let her go, I would deeply regret it.

"Where are you planning to go?" I asked, my voice laced with concern.

"To find somewhere to stay, like a hotel or an apartment," she replied.

I instinctively reached out and held her hand. "If you're waiting for a taxi to take you there, good luck," I said, my tone filled with a hint of skepticism.

"What do you mean?" she asked, her confusion evident.

I let out a sigh. "This place is in the province. It's unlikely you'll come across a taxi at this hour."

My pause was interrupted when I noticed her discreetly glancing at my chest, where three buttons of my black long-sleeve shirt were undone.

"Stop staring at me like that, baby girl. Trust me, you wouldn't want to regret it," I remarked, smiling lightly.

There was something about her presence that made me forget about my girlfriend.
