Elowen:

Nothing prepared me for what I heard. The fact Matteo was the guy who tried to rape me caused a bolt of electricity up my spine as I stared at him and Guilia with my mouth ajar.

Guilia glanced at me before grabbing Matteo’s hand.

“Do you know each other?” she asked Matteo when he wouldn’t stop looking at me.

Matteo shook his head.

“Good, because staying with a cheat is bad for your health,”she sneered, walking away from me while I fought hard to get out of the shock. For a moment, I was glued to the spot, and I felt time stop.

“Where have you been?” Dante asked, snapping me out of shock. I turned to face him, but I couldn’t do or say a thing.

I threw my arms around him, crying in his chest.

“What are you doing?” he whispered, but I wouldn’t say anything to him. “We are in public, and I do not think you should be doing that.”

He pulled me away gently, then he took my hands and walked me into the hallway, away from the crowd of people. Then he lifted my chin, searching my eyes.
