What was going on today?
I opened my eyes and looked at Saint at the same time he looked at me before getting outside the car to check what had hit us.He came back a few minutes later and started the engine without saying another word. Blood rolled down from the side of his head towards his temple and I saw him wipe it offThe traffic light turned green and we drove off. From the side mirror, I saw a woman standing, a hat on her head with shades on, both arms folded.I didn't say a word to Saint either as I guessed he also saw her.CJ and the rest were already at the house as we got there."Take her to the room," Saint said to him, "And put the guys at every corner of the house. Make sure she's safe."CJ signalled Rex to take me to my room which he did while he (CJ) left with Saint.I glanced back in an attempt to see if Saint was doing okay and I couldn't even tell.Betty had already rung my phone a countless number of times and I decided to call her back."You fucking disappeared yesterday Jade!" She screamed through the phone."Yeah I'm fine," I told her, knowing fully well the purple bruises on my wrist still hurt badly."It's the second time now and I'm starting to get worried.""I'm fine I promise," I told her again. We talked some more about random things before hanging up.I also texted Suzy multiple times again but she didn't reply to any of the texts.* * *I slept off and the next time I woke up, it was evening. After some more lazy minutes in bed and my whole body aching, I decided to fix myself dinner. Rex wasn't in sight anywhere and I couldn't care much either.I went into the kitchen and checked it out. Everything was in stock there and I could fix myself whatever I wanted.I cleaned up the dishes after eating just as I saw Rex walk into the kitchen."Miss Jade," He said coming over to where I was, smirking.I gave him a displeased look as he came to stand in front of me."Oh c'mon, don't give me that look huh? I'm only doing my job," He said walking closer to me.I took several steps backwards until I felt my lower back touch the sink."What're you doing right now Rex?" I asked staring into his eyes, trying to cover how frightened I was at that moment. He laughed at that, amusement clouding his whole face. "When I first saw you, I thought you would be cranky and hot-headed. I was wrong," He said.My hands trembled as I reached slowly behind me, searching slowly for the table knife which I hadn't put away yet after washing without him noticing."You're just a sweet little girl, aren't you," He said again as he reached for the strands of hair which fell on my face. He tucked them behind my ear and smiled."Stop this Rex," I told him as I finally grabbed the table knife and held it tightly behind me waiting for him to make the slightest move on me before I use it on him.If there was one thing Marcel had taught me while we lived together, it was how to attempt to defend myself. He had always said he wasn't sure he'd be by my side for long, so the least he could do for me was try to keep me safe from his father.Although he always showed up to protect me, he did add that a day like this was definitely going to come.Rex came closer as he rubbed my neck gently and closed the gap between us making it uncomfortable for me to move."What's going on here?" Came a voice and we both turned to see CJ standing at the entrance looking from one person to another.Rex shut the cupboard above us, holding a pack of sugar. "She couldn't reach this", He said smiling as he dropped it beside me and then winked at me before walking away."Ayo CJ, I'd be out for the night bro, you can put someone else in charge of the room," He said on his way out.CJ looked from him to me again and I was sure CJ didn't believe him but he didn't say anything either.I dropped the knife back behind me and took a deep breath glad that CJ had shown up. I could swear I hated it here."How're your injuries?" He asked which made me look at my wrist."Not too bad I guess,""That's good then,""How is Saint doing?""He doesn't want to be disturbed at the moment," CJ said before turning to leave. "If you're done with dinner, you can go back to your room."With that, he walked away.I waited until I couldn't see him again before leaving. I glanced around the whole place noticing things I hadn't previously. How cold and empty everywhere actually felt. How dark paintings hung around a few corners.I walked into the living room, the place looked nicely decorated, and the grey-coloured walls made the whole space feel empty. I saw a picture on the wall and walked closer to see an older man and woman with three children behind them. One looked like Saint and the other boy and girl seemed like twins. I concluded it was Saint together with his family and admired how cute Saint looked in the picture.Almost immediately, I heard some movements coming from a nearby room and walked towards that place, curiosity getting the best of me.The door was slightly open and peeked to see Saint sitting in front of a mirror dressing his wound, biting down his lower lip to hold in the pain.He grunted in pain as he stopped for some time before continuing.I saw him stop and stare at the door through the mirror, "Who's there?"I hesitated before answering. "Uh..", I started clearing my throat. "It's Jade". I Said walking into the room. I met his eyes through the mirror and proceeded to stand a few feet behind him unsure of what next to do. "I told CJ to not let you out of the room until you're well," He hissed at me eyeing me from the mirror, his back still turned towards me. "I.. I.. Uh... Didn't know that," I replied, hearing my voice come out more tin than supposed. He didn't respond or stand either, instead, he kept on dressing his injury while I watched him. His well-sculpted back and arms flexed once again with each of his movements. That was the first time I was seeing him shirtless while sober and I was using every bit of self-control in me to stop myself from running over to him and running my hands on them. I took a huge breath, dragging my eyes away from his body and looking elsewhere, anywhere around his room. His room was quite big, the walls were painted just the same as the rest of th
Saint's POV. They were not beating him up properly or that was what it looked like and I was pretty much starting to get impatient. The guy who had been together with Tequila the past month coughed up blood as one of my men kicked him in the stomach several times. He was a tight-lipped person and this kind of ones needed some special kind of treatment. We were at a partition of the bar basement or the 'dead hole' as I've heard some others call it. It was where everyone who crossed me ended up at. Nobody had ever made it out of here alive and it had always continued to be that way. Once you were taken into the dead hole, it was over. I put up my hand, motioning for my guy to stop kicking him. I took a huge breath and uncrossed my legs, rolling my shirt sleeves up to my elbows. "You're not going to make it out here alive, so you might as well start talking," I told him walking over to where they were. I grabbed his face making sure my fingers were digging into his cheeks which made
Jade's PovI hadn't seen Saint since after the day I had helped him dress his injury. Although I stayed in my room most times just like he had instructed and only went out to make food when I was hungry so it was likely possible that even if he was around, I still wouldn't have seen him. CJ hadn't shown up either and a few days had already passed. I missed Betty and wanted to see Suzy also since she didn't take my calls or reply to my texts so the plan to escape started creeping back into my mind. I stretched out on the bed, glad that these crazy incidents were happening after I had graduated from school. My next plan had been to get a job and move after running away from my uncle, then further my studies with the money my father had left in my name before passing away. But everything had gone wrong, instantly...in a flash. I turned over to the other side letting the sun rays hit my face as if it was going to make me feel any better. Just then a knock came in. I unbolted the door
I sat across Saint in the dining room, feeling his eyes on me with each awkward second that passed by. "It's fine, Saint," I told him again, still looking down at my fingers and picking at my cuticles. I heard him take a deep breath. "Is there something you want? Anything?" He asked and I looked up to meet his eyes. "Yes," I replied which made him cock a brow at me and lean back into his seat. "What's that?" "Let me keep working at the bar." He furrowed his eyebrows together, a frown appearing on his lips. Then crossed his arms. I could swear everything this man did was perfect. "Why?" He asked. "I mean, if I was there, Rex wouldn't have... you know..." I said quietly, trailing off. He didn't say a word again and then looked like he thought a little. I had noticed that he wasn't much of a talker and I was constantly getting used to his one-word answers or at most, a sentence. "Okay," He finally spoke up. "But on my terms and in my own ways. You go when I want you to and
"What?" I asked still looking like I had seen a ghost. I remembered lying to Saint that she usually came unannounced to the bar the first time he had saved me so he won't keep me hostage. Which hadn't worked then. But I didn't actually expect Suzy, to show up. "I think I have a stalker." She repeated glancing around once more. "Suzy. I've not seen you ever since you left the house. I was so worried about you. You don't reply to my texts or call back. Marcel is missing. Uncle is probably dead. You said you didn't want to get involved and then all of a sudden, you appear and tell me you're being stalked?" I asked, pain making my voice quiver. The paranoia evident on her face didn't go away as she stared back at me." I'm sorry Jade, I've just got a lot going on.""That isn't important now. Have you seen the person stalking you? How did you know?" I asked. She explained to me the whole deal and I asked her to report to the police which she said she already did. I told her also to kee
He stepped back still smiling as he watched my expression. Was this really the end for me? Was this going to be how I died? "We're leaving in five," He announced to both me and CJ before walking out to the car. I had just watched this man, brutally torturing someone and the next thing was me sitting next to him knowing fully well I had a crush on him and at the same time, I'd become scared of him also. I got changed immediately and got into the car, settling in the backseat with Saint. I felt his eyes never leave me as I sat, looking straight ahead and pulling down my skirt which didn't stop going to my upper thighs. The car started and we headed to the house. After some time, Saint leaned into me once again, my neck and ears feeling his hot breaths on them as he spoke. "You disobeyed me, Jade, sneaking around and all. I have to punish you, you know?" He said softly, almost in a whisper. His deep voice w
He left after we were done with only his lingering scent which stayed back in the room with me to keep me company. I thought about him as I cleaned myself up, wishing he had stayed longer, maybe held me in his arms and maybe even slept together. I kept on replaying sceneries even after I got into the shower and as I fell asleep. I woke up the next day to hear unusual noises coming from the house. I looked from the window to see black cars parked downstairs and more men (minus Saint's guys who always stood and kept tight security) dressed in suits standing attention, keeping guard. I wondered what was going on. I hurriedly had my bath and by the time I was done, I heard an engine come on and rushed back to the window. I saw Saint shake hands with some guy I'd never seen before while CJ hugged him, and then he got into the car and drove off. His other cars followed behind as well while Saint and CJ walked back briskly into the house. I dressed up and opened the door to see CJ, han
Saint's POVI had slept with her. Again. I needed to get a grip on myself. I had promised myself I wouldn't do so any longer but she kept on tempting me each day, disobeying me even. I had woken up that morning, struggling to bury the thoughts of how warm she had felt when I was inside her and how wet she always was, for me. I knew I didn't like her that way and I wasn't going to in the future either so I was sure everything was just lust, at least for me. And I needed to stop going back for more. The glares from the sun shone on my face just as I reached for my phone to check the time. It was nine in the morning and I had important guests coming soon. I hurriedly prepared for them and soon enough they came. We discussed business and they put me in on getting vital information to use in getting Matrix and might even lead me to Tequila. The dude who was supposed to get me the information in exchange for money was attending the same event I was going to the next day. It was the wel
