Broken

AURORA'S POV

"Lola,” I seethed. I felt like ripping her eyeballs out. Just because she went out with Caleb some years back, she thinks he belongs to her. Unbelievable.

“Leave me alone. I don’t have time for you,” I spat.

“Oh, but I know. We shall see who Caleb chooses tonight.” She smirked.

I felt like punching the smirk off her face, but that was so unlike me.

“He’s not some prize to be won, Lola.” I rolled my eyes. “Besides, he’s my boyfriend.”

“Did he tell you about last night? Oops, I guess I said too much now. Byee.” She giggled and left the seat, flipping her chestnut-brown hair before changing seats like the little devil she is.

Wait, what? What happened last night? I hope it’s not one of her shady schemes.

Caleb’s voice broke me out of my thoughts.

“Tonight I choose my mate. One to stand by me till I become king.”

I felt my heart beating against my chest. I loved Caleb so much. Everything about him shook my brain.

“I, Alpha Prince, reject Aurora Gray as my mate,” he said, his voice firm and emotionless. “However, I choose my true love. Lola, you are my mate.”

Gasps.

Laughs.

Everyone seemed to enjoy this, especially Lola. That snake.

It made my blood boil.

“Caleb…” I whispered under my breath.

I felt hot tears trailing down my cheeks.

Sammy shot a glance at Caleb before rushing toward me.

“We belong together. We dated for months. What about us?” I muttered, loud enough for him to hear. Everyone knew Caleb was my man, and now? I felt like I was the only one who never knew the truth.

Maybe deep down, I knew he was never mine but Lola’s.

“I am not sorry, Aurora. I mean, look at you. You are weak. You have no magic, no wolf. Just plain blonde hair, pale skin. You’re the only weak one in the kingdom. You are just a human, in a wolf pack.”

He said the last part with so much bitterness, it felt like a threat. My stomach twisted. My chest tightened and my breath hitched.

No, no, no. This can’t be. We are meant to be together.

“If you say so, Your Highness.” I held my tears, stood up, and walked out the thick doors. I heard their applause when I stepped out.

I was not needed. I was useless to them.

He was right. I had no wolf.

I subconsciously rubbed my necklace, its cold metal and diamond-like heart sending chills down my spine. Suddenly, I felt the urge to run, and never look back. My senses tingled, and I sprinted.

I felt someone following me, small and light footsteps.

“Aurora, wait!” Sammy’s voice echoed through the castle.

But I could not stop. I reached the castle doors. Sammy grabbed my arm tight and pulled me close to her chest.

“My brother is such an idiot. I didn’t know he would reject you for real and choose Lola,” she said, barely catching her breath. She’s a wolf, running is her thing.

I was surprised I didn’t feel breathless from running.

Wait.

“Wait…did you know about this?” I gritted my teeth.

“Well… yes. It’s not as it seems. I thought he wasn’t serious last night. Lola came to the palace with her father. They made a deal for Caleb to choose her instead of you,” she explained.

I felt my heart sink.

Punch me already.

“It’s all a deal for you people. I loved him,” I said, my voice shaky. Tears dared to fall, but I blinked them away. I was done crying in front of people.

“No, Aurora, I am your best friend. I didn’t want to hurt your feelings.”

“If you were my friend, you wouldn’t have let me come here for such humiliation,” I spat.

Her eyes locked on mine. They glittered with tears against the moonlight. She reached her hand into mine.

“Even if you are a useless human with no wolf, I love you. I led Caleb to you,” she said. “If you were not so plain, maybe you would have been chosen.”

What? She thinks I’m useless too?

Oh gosh.

I felt a strong energy inside me. My necklace burned against my skin. Was it supposed to do that?

I lifted her effortlessly. The guards began to surround me as I growled. My voice echoed like a thousand ancient wolves spoke through me.

“You are just like the rest of them!”

I threw her yards away with massive strength.

The guards gasped.

“Haaa! What did she do to the princess? She’s the only human here, how come she has such strength?” Guard One said.

“Don’t just stand there gawking at her, fools. Seize her! She is trying to kill the princess!” Guard Two barked orders. He let his wolf out of the leash and smirked.

Oh shit.

I ran as fast as my legs could carry me. I don’t know where the sudden speed came from, I was always slow. Branches barely scratched me as I darted through the woods.

I reached my house within seconds, branches stuck in my dress and hair.

I quickly closed the door behind me and let out a deep breath.

“I didn’t know you’d have the guts to return to my house.” A voice echoed from the shadows, a pair of red eyes glowing in the corner.

My skin crawled with fear.

Damn…

AURORA’S POVThe air was heavy, thick with mourning as Alpha Ceaser was buried in the Lycan traditional way. The forest around the grave was quiet except for the soft whispers that carried through the kingdoms, tales of a new, creeping darkness that had begun to spread. Every face I passed was shadowed with fear, every word weighed with worry.Lucien stepped forward, his expression grim. “Damion… Sera and Isabella have escaped their cell.”Damion’s eyes widened in disbelief. “Impossible. That cell is made to hold anyone. No one can escape it.”Lucien shook his head slowly. “I suspect someone let them out. There’s no sign of breakage or forced entry—it was deliberate.”I placed a hand on Damion’s arm, my voice steady but sharp. “Then question the council members. Many of them opposed you before, this could be their work.”Damion’s jaw tightened, and frustration flashed in his eyes. “Aurora… I can’t question my own people. They are my council, my allies. I have to trust them.”I felt he

AURORA’S POVI woke drenched in sweat, heart hammering, every muscle trembling as if I had run a thousand miles in my sleep. My robes clung to my body, damp and cold against my skin. The memory of the Shadow Realm, of the dragon’s heart, of Damion trapped in that infernal darkness, made my chest tighten with fear. I pressed a hand to my belly, feeling the pup stir with gentle insistence. A soft kick, a reminder of life inside me.“Oh, Damion…” I whispered, voice trembling. “Lucien… I failed you…”The room was quiet, too quiet, and I wondered if it had all been a nightmare. The sun streamed weakly through the curtains, painting patterns on the floor. I swung my legs over the bed, shivering as I scanned the room. Nothing looked wrong. Nothing seemed… real.A soft creak made me spin. The door opened slowly. My heart stuttered as Lucien stepped in, shirtless as always, carrying a tray of breakfast. His usual calm presence radiated through the room.“Good morning, Your Highness,” he said c

AURORA'S POV The dragon’s massive wings beat against the air, lifting us high above the jagged cliffs. Wind tore through my hair and whipped my robes around me, biting at my skin. The pup inside me thrashed, tiny kicks reminding me that failure wasn’t an option. Stay strong. For him. "Your highness be careful!" One of the vampires called out.The dragon roared, fire spitting from its jaws in thick, scorching bursts. I gritted my teeth, spreading my silver-glowing wings wide to match its power. Every muscle in my body screamed in protest, but I refused to yield. My claws flared with energy, silver light dancing along their edges. "I refuse to fail! My mate awaits!" Its massive claws swiped for me, talons snapping through the air dangerously close. I twisted, narrowly avoiding the strike, and countered with a strike to its scaled chest. Sparks flew where silver energy met gold scales. The dragon’s roar shook my ears, echoing across the mountains like a rolling avalanche.I dug my cl

AURORA'S POV The air was thick with the stench of burning flesh and magic.Screams, roars, and the clash of battle filled the cavern. Behind me, the vampires fought with relentless fury, their wings beating against the suffocating heat as they swarmed the dragon. Its scales glimmered like molten gold, fire spewing from its jaws as it whipped its massive tail, sending vampires crashing into the stone walls. But my focus was on Agatha. Her laughter echoed, wild and sharp, as she spun her dark magic, her crimson hair flying around her like flames.“You think you can take him back from me?” she shrieked, her hands glowing with sickly green fire.“I’m not taking anything from you!” I snarled, rushing forward. “I’m saving him!”Our powers collided with a thunderous crack. The ground split beneath our feet as we clashed—silver against green, light against darkness.Agatha grinned, her eyes glowing brighter. “Oh, Aurora… still clinging to hope. You really think your love can tame the Shadow

  • Maid For The Ruthless Lycan king    Chapter 97: Dragons Don't Exist

AURORA'S POV The wind stung my face as I soared through the night sky, carried by the powerful wings of the elder vampires. The clouds split around us like dark waves, and beneath, the world stretched endlessly—forests of shadow, glimmering lakes reflecting the pale moon, and mountains like jagged teeth.Beside me, the senior vampire, his silver hair whipping violently in the wind, flew effortlessly, his crimson eyes locked on the horizon.“Are you sure about this?” I shouted over the rush of air, my voice trembling. “Are you absolutely certain dragons even exist? I’ve never seen one. No one has! They’re just… just stories!”His gaze cut to me, sharp as a blade. “My queen, I have slept beneath the earth for centuries, yet even buried in darkness, I could feel their heartbeat.” His voice was deep, steady, ancient. “Dragons are real. They always have been. All creatures exist for a reason—even those that choose to hide.”I swallowed hard, gripping the arm of another vampire as we soare

  • Maid For The Ruthless Lycan king    Chapter 96: Too Late to Try?

AURORA'S POV The shadows twisted around me, thick and suffocating, as I fell to my knees. My hands pressed into the cold black ground, trembling with exhaustion and rage.“Ancestors,” I breathed, my voice cracking. “Help me. Please!”A sudden pulse of power surged through the Shadow Realm. The earth beneath me split with a deafening crack. From the fissures, skeletal hands clawed their way upward, followed by pale figures cloaked in black mist. One by one, they emerged—a legion of vampires, their eyes glowing crimson like dying embers.I stumbled back, my heart hammering. They fell to one knee in perfect unison, their voices rising like a chorus of ghosts:“Our queen has risen.”My stomach twisted. My voice shook with anger. “No! This isn’t what I asked for!”I lifted my face to the moon, glowing faintly through the shadows. “I asked for strength to save them! Not an army of the dead!”My cry echoed, swallowed by the realm’s darkness.“Your command, my queen?” one of the vampires his
