Cassian had been staring at his phone for a while now, jumping at it each time it made a sound. Steven was with him at the breakfast table. It had been two days since his meeting with Marybeth, and he had not heard from her. Did that mean she wasn't interested? Why exactly hadn’t she said anything yet?

“Boss, checking your phone repeatedly will not make her text you faster.” He said.

“Yes, but she hasn't even said anything at all. Is that normal?” Cassian asked.

“Why are you asking me?” Steven cocked a brow, “It's not like I have any experience when it comes to contract marriages.” He shrugged.

“Ugh, you're about as useful as a fork being useful for eating soup.” Cassian groaned.

“Who uses a fork to eat soup?” Steven asked confused.

“Exactly.”

It took him a while but then he got it, “Har har. If that's how you feel, why not just fire me or something?”

“Can’t. You're way too valuable to the company and you know too much. If I let you go I would have to kill you.” Cassian said.

  • Making Her Ex-husband Regret    chapter 143

Sleep was a beautiful thing, I thought as I woke up. I stretched my arms wide on the bed letting out a satisfied groan. But sadly, that blissful moment was ruined when I remembered I had to go back to the training grounds for the one-on-one training with Alpha Killian. I groaned in frustration. He was very strict with his training, heck, even stricter than Erik, which was not something I ever thought I'd say. “You're up early again,” Camille commented beside me on her bed. She stretched lazily, not getting up from her bed, “Waking up this early on a Saturday should be an abomination.” She yawned and blinked lazily. “It is,” I sighed in agreement, “but a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do.” “Which is what?” She asked me sleepily. “Why kick ass of course.” She chuckled softly, then let out another yawn, “You’re going to kick the Alpha’s ass? Yeah right.” “What, you don't believe me?” I scoffed, “It's only a matter of time.” I nodded firmly. “Sure,” she said, disbelief in her

Marybeth stared at the people around her, she could feel the anticipation in the air. It was as though it permeated the air, painting it. She took a deep breath and realized the hall was mostly silent now. It seemed the commotion had attracted the attention of everyone else and now the onlookers had grown in size. In the crowd, she spied her parents and Wayne, but try as she might, she didn't find Cassian. “Obviously.” Logan said, “You were a housewife who only ever cooked and cleaned, so how exactly would you have any money to be able to do all this?” He said, scorn evident in his gaze. “Huh,” Marybeth scoffed, “That's what you think of me? Someone who was only ever a housewife?” Her voice was deceptively calm now, “I dedicated my life to you, and now you think I can amount to nothing? How fucking dare you.” Logan looked unapologetic, and Christa leaned in closer to him, wrapping her hands around his arm, and shot Marybeth a smug look. Just then, a bell rang announcing the start

KILLIAN’S POV She smelled sweet. That was the first thought that popped in my head when I was close to her. Her skin feels so soft, another thought as my fingers trailed her arms. My proximity to Lilliana Masters was making weird thoughts enter my head. Sweet? Soft? I was starting to sound like some sort of poet. Still though, it amazed me how quickly she caught on to using the gun, despite her aversion to it. I found myself wondering what exactly could have happened that made her despise guns so much. “What kind of weapons were you expecting?” I decided to ask her, arms crossed watching as her aim improved with each shot. “What?” She stopped shooting and faced me, “I didn’t hear the question.” “I said what kind of weapons were you expecting to learn to use. Seeing as you greatly dislike guns and all.” I said. “OH.” She said thoughtfully, “Actually, I don’t know. Erik said I shouldn’t be expecting crossbows or spears because this isn’t a fantasy novel. But I never once consi

“I’ll take it from here Erik, thanks.” A voice suddenly said behind us. Surprised, we turned around to find Killian watching us, eyes narrowed. “Of course Alpha.” Ereik replied smoothly. He nodded to me, eyes imploring me to pay attention and learn then with a small bow to Killian he left. “I hope Erik wasn’t too intense for you,” Killian said, “He doesn’t know when to hold back or anything. Always full force.” He was definitely intense, “not at all,” but not as intense as the man before me. As though he knew I was lying, Killian smirked, then approached me. His gaze landed on the gun that I gripped clumsily. “He chose a good weapon for you.” He commented, “Small, light. It won’t hold you back if you ever need to run.” “This is light? It certainly doesn’t feel like it.” I muttered. He chuckled at my words. “So how far have you guys gone in practicing to use it?” He finally asked. “How far? We only just started.” I replied. He smiled what he probably thought was a secre

He wasn’t as far away as I had originally thought, I only needed to walk a few extra steps and there he was. In a makeshift arena that consisted of onlookers, he was sparring with another warrior, his expression focused and serious. I decided it was best not to distract him and instead joined the onlookers in enjoying what seemed to be an interesting fight Erik and his opt. Erik and his opponent were shirtless, their torsos slick with sweat as their muscles tensed and slacked with each push and pull of their bodies. Erik had a lean frame with lean muscles, his opponent, a warrior that was vaguely familiar, probably someone i had seen in passing seemed like a giant compared to him, yet it was very obvious that Erik had the upper hand. In no time, Erik had him on his back and his opponent tapped out admitting defeat. The circle erupted in a thunderous roar as though that had rooted for Erik rejoiced while those that didn’t walked away with defeated looks on their faces. “Still got a
