Lyra

Few minutes ago, she'd walked into the manager's office with a smile plastered on her face. When he'd called her, she was hoping for a good news like ' you've been promoted' 'oh, there's been an increment in your salary to commend you for your good work'. if anyone deserved all that, it should have been her.
"I'm fired!? Why!? " she asked alarmed as she stared wide-eyed at the blue–eyed guy in his seat with a slicked back black hair, behind the office desk.
"Well, we feel your services are no longer needed so, you have to go with the rest being laid off." He said with a broad grin.
"Why? What have I done to deserve this?!" She asked with a shaky voice as she bit back the tears that threatened to fall down. No! She wouldn't give him something to rejoice over. She wouldn't let him think he'd succeeded in breaking her. She wouldn't let him see her cry.
"That's why you should have listened to me from the start. The boss wants just one night with you. Couldn't you have been generous enough to give him that? But no. You had to shame the boss. You turned him down with a slap." He said mockingly, arching a brow.
He'd called her to his office and tried to touch her! What was she supposed to do? She'd tried to politely turn his advances down. But he wouldn't listen.
"What would you have me do? Let him touch me with those filthy hands?!"
"Well, now it has cost you your job. You have to leave. The boss wants you gone before he returns." He replied and she could hear the sarcasm dripping off his voice. He was enjoying this, that she could tell.
"Fine." She got up and walked towards the door.
"Lyra," he called, "why don't you just suppress your pride and plead? Who knows, the boss might just reconsider. It doesn't kill you know. Let the boss in, and trust me, you'd enjoy both him and this company. All the other girls does. The offer is still open."
She turned towards him with anger, rage and pain coursing though her veins. She clenched her fists tight till her knuckles turned white and her nails dug into her palms in an attempt to refrain herself from slapping him hard across the face.
"You can take your offer and shove it down your fucking ass! You know, on a second thought, don't you think you should also give yourself to him? Maybe you'd stop being a measly manager who's nothing but a bootlicker for the boss!" walking out, she slammed the door shut. Not even waiting for his response. As much as she would have loved to see him go red with anger, she had to do something about the tears that welled in her eyes and tried to break through.
Storming into her office with chest heaving from anger, she leaned down below the desk and pulled out the box underneath. Stuffing it with her things. Glancing reluctantly at the office once more, she walked out.
When she'd gotten into the elevator, she punched the button to the first floor, other employees walked in chattering happily. She clutched her box closely, sniffing when she caught a teardrop that tried to escape with her thumb.
Getting to the parking lot, she settled the box in the car trunk. She sat herself down in the car, resting her head on the wheel. Bringing out her phone she dialed a number, it went through after few rings and a small voice with a French accent spoke at the other end of the phone.
"Hey girl! Was just about to call. Just got home. I've got good news." She said, excitedly.
As much as she would love to hear her good news, her bad news was overwhelming. "Oh, okay. Tell me about it." She sniffed.
"What's wrong? And don't even lie to me. I know something is wrong. You sound like someone just knocked the lights out of you." She inquired.
"I –" she paused, heaving a burdened sigh as she let the tears that could no longer be contained drop. The woman at the other end of the phone said nothing, just waited for her to complete her words that had petered into silence.
"I just got fired. Today."
She gasped, "oh! How? Why?"
"The boss wanted me and–" she sobbed and after a few seconds, managed to calm herself. She continued, " I wouldn't let him. So he had me fired."
"That asshole! I wish I was there, I would have killed him with my own bare hands! Cry it out my poor baby, it's going to be fine. It's going to be fine."
She gently repeated the words "it's going to be fine." While she bawled her eyes out. Breathing heavily.
After weeping for more than a few minutes, she quieted down. Then
Kat spoke," I wish I was there with you. I'm so sorry for not being there for you."
"You're always there for me Kat, being in Paris has taken a lot of toll on you already. So, Tell me." She sniffed, wiping off the tears. " The good news."
"Oh, it's not that much of a good news yet. Pierre and I got engaged, after I'd found out I was already carrying his child." She scoffed.
"It's a good news! I'm happy for you. I'm finally becoming a godmother." Smiling happily, she couldn't contain her joy even though she had an issue going on. She was truly happy for her but Kat on the other hand merely just kept quiet.
"You're not happy? " she asked, concerned.
"No! I am. Just worried and scared. I would be a mother soon, but I know next to nothing about parenting and childbirth. What if I panic?" She said and Lyra could sense she'd already began to panic.
"Calm down, don't worry, once the child is out, your parenting instincts would surely kick in. And I'm sure there are tons of classes for parenting and child birth."
She breathed in and out. " Okay. Okay. Be strong for me. That way I can also be strong." She said cheerfully.
"Alright, I will. Gotta go, talk later."
"Okay. Bye." She said, and Lyra ended the call.
Turning on the car engine she zoomed off to a life of uncertainty, shattered dreams and zero job.
As she drove into the highway, she had wind down the car window letting the cool night breeze in. She clicked open the glove box and brought out her alcohol flask. Flicking off the lid, she brought the flask to her lips, swirling her tongue around it. On a second thought, she realized it was a bad idea to drink while driving.
She closed the flask. She would save that till she got home. After she'd ran herself a warm bath, she would drink away her sorrows.

A truck driver whistled happily to Billie Holliday's 'when you're smiling' when a bat flew in latching right unto his neck. He'd screamed when he'd felt it's fangs sink into his neck. In his wild attempts to pull away the mad bat which wouldn't release it's hold on him, whilst maneuvering the vehicle, he'd lost control of the brakes and had accidentally stepped on the accelerator when he'd swiveled right into another moving vehicle.
💀💀💀☠️☠️☠️☠️💀💀💀☠️☠️💀💀
Just as Lyra opened the box glove to put back the flask, her eyes caught a glimpse of a car somersaulting through the highway.
"Oh my God!" She screamed.
Lyra barely had a glimpse of the truck swiveling towards her, tried to get out of it's way and almost blacked out immediately as the truck crashed into hers.
Regaining a little bit of her consciousness, she groaned, screaming hoarsely as the car swiveled violently rolling down the highway. Letting out a shriek, she felt something pierce her legs and the popping sound of a broken bone filled the air.
By the time the car had stopped rolling, she'd been impaled by countless shards of glasses and metals. Blood gushed out from numerous cuts and wounds she'd aquired.
🦇🦇🦇🦇🦇🦇🦇🦇🦇🦇🦇🦇🦇🦇
The bat flew off and a great fog arose from the bat, and from the fog, a dark silhouette began to take form. A few minutes later, where the bat flew stood a man in a black knee length coat. His silk midnight black hair touched his waist.
Beside him was another bat–turned–female Blondie.
"My Lord! Look what you've done again. You promised the elders there would be no harm done this time around!" She shouted, placing a hand on her head, as she let out a frustrated groan.
"Oh come on! This isn't my first rodeo." He said nonchalantly licking the dried blood off his lips.
"You bit a man in a moving truck! Soon, lots of those cars with red and blue lights on them would swoop in, and the truck driver would start to tell tales of how a bat tried to drain him dry of his blood." She scowled.
"No harm done, see? Nobody got–" he paused abruptly, his heightened senses at their full function.
"My Lord, what's wrong–"
"Shhhh" he cut her off, "I smell blood."
"Blood?" She tried to sniff, then she caught a whiff of the scent of blood.
"Oh no. Someone got hurt!" She cried out running to the other end of the road.
🕳🕳🕳🕳🕳🕳
And I smell trouble. *snickers*
The car was upside down, and she was squashed between it. She dangled from underneath, her hands splayed on the floor. She managed to move out a little, bloodied and half lifeless, she tried to call for help as she heard footsteps approaching."He–help me!" Lyra groaned, coughing up blood. Then a man and a woman came near, they both had black clothes on. She was nearly half conscious so she couldn't really make out their faces."Help......me, " she pleaded with the last of her strength as her eyes shut themselves. Her voice hoarse."What should we do with her?" The male asked, stroking his chin."My Lord, you have to heal her.""Bad idea. Can't have a newborn running loose.""Heal her, not turn her. She still has lots of time left, but, she might not survive until the ambulance arrives."After a few minutes of hesitation, he pulled
He got up and strolled to one of the maids standing she was beautiful, all plump and ripe for the taking. He got in front of her, and she began to tremble like a cold leaf in the harmattan. When his eyes turned crimson, her fears seemed to be amplified in more ways than one.He walked behind her, his claws at her throat. His family just stared at him, too shocked to speak, they all knew what he'd wanted to do. That had been banned in their house!"What are you doing son? Sit down!" His father ordered."It's just a simple demonstration father." He grinned, as he released a claw, gently drawing blood from beneath her throat, she winced, tears pooling down her face. The rest of the maids scurried away in fear.He knew his family craved blood. He knew they'd wanted nothing more than to sink their fangs in a human. But, their sense of righteousness and stupidity could never let them. But he would help them re
ONE YEAR LATER. JAN. 05. 2021Lyra held her phone to her neck as she flipped the egg in the pan. The phone rang and she waited for Kat to pick up. A month ago, Kat had given birth after her marriage to Phil. Lyra had to go to Paris for the wedding, it was more than enough to drown her sorrows of being jobless, but after returning, she began an endless hunt for a job. She'd applied at nearly every single company she could find, but for some reason, they always turned out to not be interested. Later, she got to find out that her former boss had used his connections to stop her from getting hired sh had to move away to Ocean City to get away from him.Lyra was starting to give up hope of ever finding a work until she came across a job offer. She knew next to nothing about working in an hotel. She was merely a marketer. But she was determined and ready to take it. She was sure she could handle bein
Marcellus jaws dropped wide open and his eyes nearly popped out of their sockets as he stared at the woman in his office. He'd recognize that scent and face anywhere. "Bloody hell!" Were the only thing he could make out as he stared at the female figure in his office when he stepped in. How was she here?! Why was she at Avlon? He gasped, figuring out she was the one he was interviewing. Was she here to seek revenge?! Nights after nights, Marcellus had tried to purge her blood out of his system. That addictive taste plastered itself in his head and he'd almost attempted to find her on several occasions. Her blood was unlike anything he'd tasted. Rare and intoxicating–not to even mention the pure darkness, the raw power he'd felt in that few seconds he'd drank from her. He'd drowned in the oceans of alcohol to forget how good her blood felt on his tongue, how bad his soul craved it, and how h
"No bloody way?!" Kat repeated again. Confusion evident in her voice."Yeah. That was all he said." Lyra replied as she tugged at the pillow on her queen sized bed, she leaned against the headboard. This wasn't the first time she didn't get the job, but it was usually during the interview, or after. But this– this wasn't any of that. He looked like he'd seen a ghost. And the next thing was 'no bloody way.'He felt familiar to her being in an unfamiliar way. She couldn't help but wonder if they'd met before. Could he have been a displeased customer? She highly doubted that."That's weird. And you've never met before? " Kat asked again."No. We've never. Not that I recall." Lyra sighed, raking her fingers through her hair. Today was a total waste of effort."What are you going to do now?"There was nothing Lyra could do. At first she'd thought
Marcellus Marcellus had his black silk robe and black pants on. A smile crept up to his lips as he tugged the cigarette between them, nesting his glass of liquor on the table beside the couch he sat on. He recklessly swung his other arm behind his head.Lyra, as she'd called her name said nothing after he'd given her a three–day offer. She merely just walked away. But he was confident—too confident to say the least. He could tell she found his offer irresistible, he saw desperation in her eyes when he'd gazed into it.He saw hesitation and restraint in them, but he was sure she would break and would come running back to him in the next three days. Either of them had what the other wanted; she wanted a job, he wanted her blood. It was a win–win situation for both of them, even though she knew nothing of his intentions towards her.He couldn't help the smug smiles that found thei
LyraJan. 09.2021She'd accepted.Lyra found his offer too irresistible and too good to be true, but she couldn't turn it down. At the dawn of the third day, she'd mailed her response and he'd sent his manager to come pick her the fourth. She was desperate. She could only assume he also was if he'd decided to pay such a huge sum of money for just a mere secretary at the expense of her living with him.Of course she'd tried to figure out why she had to live with him. But she could find no suitable explanation or reason. He probably could eventually turn out to be a serial killer or a sick psychotic maniac who found pleasure in luring women to his house by flaunting his wealth in their faces.Kat was totally against the idea. But after Shannon had assured her multiple times over the last tw
MarcellusThat particular scent drove him straight to the kitchen. She was here, her blonde hair was up in a messy ponytail. But his brother also had the audacity to make steak in his kitchen without his permission."I don't remember asking you to cook for me. Angel. Just because I let you stay, doesn't mean I have given you access to my house." Marcellus scowled. Why couldn't Angelus just stay where he'd put him? After Angelus had bugged him too much last night and wouldn't go away, he had no choice but to agree to him staying at his place. They might have been a twin, but they were only similar in appearance. Their personalities was far more different. For one, Marcellus had always thought Angelus to be lousy and ridiculous. Marcellus had to hold back a scoff, he'd been at the doorway for a while watching the way the new woman gawked at Angelus' body and also the way Angelus'
