Katrina’s POV

We finally pulled up in front of the bar. The neon sign above the entrance flashed in bright purple, flickering every few seconds like it was on its last leg. It spelled out “Luna’s Den,” and the glow lit up the sidewalk and made the windows shine. The music inside was already thumping, loud enough that I could feel the beat in my chest even from outside.

We climbed out of the car. Ariana held onto my hand as we walked toward the entrance. Her grip was warm and steady, like she could tell I was nervous. I hadn’t been out like this in so long—not since before everything changed.

Inside, the air was heavy with perfume, sweat, and the faint scent of alcohol. The lights were dim, except for the colored strobes flashing red, blue, and green across the dance floor. The music was so loud it made my head buzz, but somehow it still felt… exciting.

There were people everywhere—some grinding on the dance floor, others laughing and drinking at the bar. A few sat at high tables tucke

Katrina's POVHe was quiet for a second, and I couldn’t bring myself to look up.Then his voice came—firm and serious.“First of all,” he said, “you are not weak. I literally just watched you break some guy’s nose in the middle of a bar.”I blinked, surprised. A little laugh escaped my lips, but it was watery, full of emotions I didn’t know what to do with.“And second,” he said, his tone softening, “I don’t care that you don’t have a wolf.”That made me look up.“I care about you,” he said, his eyes locked on mine. “Just… you. The way you are.”He touched my chin gently and tilted my face up toward his, like he wanted me to really hear the words he was saying. His thumb wiped a tear I hadn’t even realized had fallen.“Having a wolf doesn’t make someone strong,” he said. “You’ve already survived so much. You still smile. You still care. That’s real strength, Katrina.”My chest ached in a way that wasn’t painful, just… full. Full of so many things I didn’t have names for.I blinked up

Katrina’s POVThat broke me.A sob slipped from my mouth before I could stop it, and I covered my face with both hands. My fingers were cold and damp from the tears, and my shoulders were shaking. I couldn’t tell if I was crying because I was happy or sad or just so full of emotions that I couldn’t hold it all in anymore. Everything felt too big inside me.Then I felt him move.Liam leaned closer, slow and careful, like he didn’t want to scare me. And then I felt his arms around me—warm and strong, but gentle. He didn’t rush it. He just held me. Like I wasn’t broken. Like I wasn’t too much.I let him.I let myself lean into his chest, pressing my face against him as more tears came. His scent surrounded me—faintly pine, and something that reminded me of smoke and safety. I could feel his heartbeat against my cheek. Steady. Calm. Like he was trying to anchor me.He

Katrina's POVI stared at him. “Yes,” I said. “Today’s my birthday. Ariana and Blake wanted to do something fun. I didn’t have anyone else to celebrate with, so we came here.”He looked down at his lap for a moment, then back at me. He looked… guilty?“I didn’t know,” he said softly. “I’m sorry.”I looked away, not wanting him to see the way my eyes were starting to sting. My chest felt tight, like something sharp was pressing down right in the center. I didn’t want to cry in front of him again. I’d already done enough of that. I blinked fast, trying to hold it together.“Of course you didn’t,” I said quietly, my voice a little shaky. “How would you know? You don’t even try to know anything about me. You act like I don’t exist.”I could feel his eyes on me, and when I finally looked back at him, he was already turned in his seat, facing me fully. His face was serious. His brows were drawn together, and his lips were pressed in a hard line like he wanted to say something—but I didn’t g

Katrina’s POVWe both turned at the same time. The guy I’d punched—his body was shaking now. His arms twisted unnaturally, and we heard his bones popping. His shirt started to tear down the sides, seams ripping as his muscles grew larger, bulkier. Fur burst out from his skin, spreading fast across his body. His hands became paws. His face stretched into a long snout with sharp teeth. My blood went cold.He was shifting.“No,” I breathed, stepping back. My heart thudded painfully in my chest. I couldn’t shift. I didn’t know how. I hadn’t even started training for that. I was just a regular girl—one who happened to be born a wolf but hadn’t awakened it yet. And this guy… he was full wolf now. His body was massive, his fur dark brown and patchy where the shift had ripped his clothes. His yellow eyes glared at me like I was prey. His lips curled up, showing off sharp, gleaming teeth. He growled low and deep.Ariana stepped in front of me without hesitation. Her hands were clenched into fi

Katrina’s POVI hugged her tight. “You look amazing,” I said, pulling back to look at her properly.“Thanks! But tonight’s about you, so we’re gonna make you look amazing,” she said, dropping the bags onto my bed like they were treasure.I followed her over and watched as she pulled out dress after dress. Red. Black. Silver. Gold. Some had glitter, others were smooth and shiny. There were heels too, and even a small bag of jewelry—necklaces, earrings, bracelets. My mouth dropped open a little. I wasn’t used to this. I had never been the girl who got ready for parties or had a friend bring over fancy things to share.“All of this is for me?” I asked softly, blinking at the pretty clothes spread out on my bed.“Duh,” Ariana said, tossing her hair back. “It’s your birthday. You deserve to feel special. Pick whichever one you want.”I slowly reached for the gold dress. It was short and fitted, with tiny go
