EVELINE

The next morning, Eveline didn't step out of her room.

She woke up with the time on the bed displaying 7:43 AM, and started to pull off the blanket when she paused.

Then fell back on the bed, staring at the ceiling, replaying the events of last night. Everything that happened up until his appearance at the bar.

How did he know where she was? Did he put a tracker in his scooter or something? And appearing when she needed him most was just…odd.

It was too much of a coincidence.

EVELINEThe next morning, Eveline didn't step out of her room. Then there was the aura he commanded when he walked in, the sheer power that radiated from him when he had chased off those boys. She could smell his anger a mile away. She felt her knees quake, even then, and now she found herself squirming on the bed. The ride home was a mixture of feelings. The way she had wrapped her arms tighter around Lucian’s waist halfway back, pressing her cheek against his back like he was an answer to her prayer. She told herself it had only happened because she was sca

DAMONIt had been a week since Elias asked him to delay with the Lucian problem. A week of tearing through every contact he had, of sending out lowlife spies in the pack to pin down exactly where his uncle was.And yet, nothing conclusive. Lucian’s hospital records were a wall of professional bullshit: surgeries, board meetings, research grants. The man moved like a ghost when he wanted to. He came and left the hospital without warning and seemed to vanish whenever he was leaving. But nothing bothered Damon than the rumours he heard. And they all circled back to two persons: Eveline and Lucian. His spies all had some form of news or the other about Lucian. Some said that Lucian had married a lady. Others said that he was taking care of an old man in his residence, but a number of those people also said he was using the man for experiments. And when Damon checked, the math added up too neatly. Since that day at the hospital, Eveline had disappeared along with her father. He ha

LUCIANHe had spent the day at the hospital, losing himself in patient files and the quiet rhythm of the operating room. There was a surgery to be handled that afternoon, and he had spent the preceding days preparing for it. The surgery had gone flawlessly; a delicate spinal repair on a young beta. For those couple of hours under the bright lights, scalpels steady in his hands, Lucian had been in complete control. No fated mate pulling at his instincts, no lingering scent of roses haunting the back of his mind, no Eveline to distract him.Work was his means of escape. And he had had enough for one day. Now, as night fell, all he wanted was rest. The drive home along the winding forest road was quiet, headlights cutting through the dark. He had almost convinced himself the week of deliberate distance from Eveline was working. He assumed she needed space after that night on the dining table, but then, his pride had been wounded. So, the idea was simple. Eveline insisted she needed

EVELINEThe Timber and Tonic bar was a lively pocket of nightlife. It sat on the edge of the forest road, where trees met the city lights. A large neon sign stood atop it, with its name written in cursive, stylized with wolf fangs. And as Eveline killed the engine of the borrowed scooter, she realized the patrons were mostly, if not all, werewolves. Some wore tight jeans and leather, laughing and shoving each other playfully. Others wore little clothing, their eyes glowing in the dark and their fangs flashing when they grinned. Their scents all mingled with the fresh forest, and she almost wished she could shift. It seemed this was the only place to party around here, and the perfect place for her to seek her release. She tugged on her jacket subconsciously , before walking into the bar. She had it all planned out: go in, grab one drink, dance a little. And that was it. At the entrance, there was a little line. A burly bouncer with a scar across his jaw was asking for ID ahead. Sh

EVELINENothing really did start to make any sense. She couldn't find Lucian the next morning. He wasn't downstairs at the living area when she came down, not anywhere else. Not that she knew where to look for him. The villa was a very large affair, and she had no doubt that she could get lost if she wandered around too much. But she did know her way to the hospice wing, and that was where she went. Howard was inside the room, reading a book by the window, and he declared that it was alright for her to check on her father now. Marcus Hart was sleeping peacefully, on the bed, though still attached to a purplish drip. “Has he had anything to eat?” She asked. “Not yet.” Howard poked a finger at the drip. “But he won't lack nutrition.” “When will he…Will he…?” Howard gave her a gentle smile. “You need not to worry, dear. Be assured, Lucian will have your father back up again, in no time.” She nodded, shifting her gaze back to her foster father. “And…where is he? Lucian?” She asked

LUCIANThere was something different about her look all of a sudden, almost as if he had stolen her breath away. The light of the sunset itself poured in through the dining windows behind him, casting a golden glow across her face. Her eyes seemed to sparkle like confetti, and her skin seemed to glow brighter against the warmth of the light. He couldn't tell which one made him transfixed to the spot. And his thoughts revolved around the impossibility of it all; Alpha Lucian Reed, one of the most sought-after neurosurgeons in both human and wolf territories; felt butterflies fluttering in his belly at the sight of her.He hadn't given much thought to what it meant to be one's mate, but it was as cruel as it was enchanting. And it did seem like she had a charm that had reduced him to a man who needed a dose of her just to function. The thought was equal parts amusing and annoying. When he left the hotel that morning, he didn't think he'd look back. But the feeling that gnawed at his
