LOGINSeravyn POV
“What is this girl doing here? Her intense stare unsettled me more than anything else.
“Why don’t you just ask her? She’s the one who stole our mate’s affection,” Naryvex, my wolf, said. I quickly pushed her out of my mind. I really didn’t want her claiming that Thessaly had actually won.
I still held onto hope for Caelrix’s future.
“What brings you here?” I asked confidently as I stood up from the bed.
Thessaly grinned mischievously. “I’m embarking on an exciting new journey. This pack is mine now, since I’ll soon be the official Luna.” The way she smiled afterward lit a fiery rage inside me.
“You will never be his Luna,” I shot back, recounting every detail. That only made her burst into laughter and clutch her chest.
“Oh,” she whispered. “What was that?”
“I am his mate!” I shouted. “You’re not! I can’t understand what you did to suddenly become his future Luna. Caelrix loves me… He promised to marry me ”
“Hold on. Wait,” she interrupted, raising her hand to stop me mid-sentence.
“Are you bringing up your past experiences with him again?” she asked, making me tense up.
“You’re a murderer!” I yelled. “You took the lives of my parents!” I raised my voice, trying to put some distance between us.
“You think it was random?” My voice trembled, but not from fear this time.
“My parents weren’t just ordinary wolves… no matter how much everyone tries to pretend they were.” My chest tightened as the memories clawed their way back.
“They stayed out of pack politics, kept their heads low… but they knew things. Things they were never supposed to know.” I swallowed hard. “And the night they died wasn’t just an attack…it was deliberate..”My eyes locked onto hers, searching… demanding.
“You were there.”
For the briefest second, something flickered across Thessaly’s face….not guilt, not remorse…but recognition.
Thessaly Van Everhart wasn’t just any she-wolf. She was the daughter of the Alpha of the Black River Pack....a name feared for its brutality…hunger for control and its history of wiping out anything that stood in its way.
And Thessaly?
She had grown up in that blood-soaked legacy….Cold, ruthless and Untouchable.
It was incredibly difficult to look the person responsible for my parents’ death in the eye, especially when I was also supposed to be with the man I loved more than anyone else.
What was going on? Was the Moon Goddess really toying with my emotions?
Thessaly remained stoic, hiding any trace of emotion, but her goal was clear to mock me after everything that had happened.
“You’re making a fool of yourself,” she finally said.
“Caelrix doesn’t care about you. You mean absolutely nothing to him. Caelrix deeply regrets ever being with you,” she jeered, slowly advancing toward me.
“He chose me because he loves me. I am his true companion. I can already guess what you’re thinking. It seems like destiny is laughing at your expense. You’re just an Omega, so you should know your place,” she said, pointing at my forehead and giving me a thorough once-over.
“You don’t even look good.” She shoved me hard, but I somehow managed to stay on my feet.
I stayed silent. Her presence filled me with overwhelming fear. I preferred to keep her hands far away from my skin. I valued my cleanliness. The intense memory of losing my parents washed over me again, and it hurt like hell.
I swallowed hard. “You have no right to say that..”
“Of course I do, sweetheart. I can sense how much you hate me,” she chuckled. “It must be quite painful knowing your parents were taken by a young werewolf who’s about to become Luna.
And I can imagine how disheartening it is for your so-called mate to be swept away by someone you least expected…” She whispered, reaching out toward me, but I instinctively recoiled.
I couldn’t help shaking my head. “What really matters is who he holds dear. And what’s important is that my parents live on in my heart”
Her laughter echoed through the room, cutting me off.
“You’ve got plenty of that.”
“He loves me. He chose me because our connection is undeniable..”
“Undeniable connection!? I swear, I am his genuine companion! His choice was only motivated by the alliance!” I begged, my voice desperate, hoping she would somehow validate what I was saying. But all she did was laugh.
“You’re mistaken,” her smile slowly faded as her expression turned serious.
“My father originally decided against forming an alliance with this pack because he didn’t think it would benefit me.
But then Caelrix showed up and my father took a liking to him. Caelrix was always ready to play matchmaker, and they suggested me because they knew I’d had feelings for him since we were kids.”
“Caelrix assured me it wouldn’t be a problem. He said he didn’t care about the lack of an alliance. He simply has an affinity for me, but our marriage will still bring an alliance”
“You’ve said more than enough!” I shouted. I was tired of constantly hearing it. The words were tearing my heart apart.
I couldn’t stand to listen anymore, and that brought a fresh smile back to her face.
“You remind me so much of your deceased parents. Weak and foolish” Her words were cut short as I delivered a hard slap across her face. The sharp sound echoed as her head snapped to the side. Her cheek turned pink, and she instinctively covered it while her eyes widened in shock.
“You won,” I said. “That feels amazing, doesn’t it?” I murmured, my voice steady but trembling.
She slowly lowered her hand from her cheek, revealing a small trace of blood at the corner of her mouth. The sight sent a jolt of shock through me, making my heart race. I wasn’t sure what I had just done.
“Thessaly…” I mumbled as her eyes grew wide, and suddenly Caelrix burst into the room without warning.
Anxiety rushed through me. “Caelrix…” I faltered.
“She won’t stop talking about my parents! She’s so proud of what she did. She’s… Please get her out of my room!” I pleaded. His gaze shifted to Thessaly’s lips as she started crying.
“That’s not true… She slapped me and accused me of stealing you away from her,” Thessaly cried out dramatically.
Caelrix looked at me, his expression full of bewilderment.
“You have to trust me”
“Don’t worry, I believe you,” he whispered gently, pulling her head against his chest. She sobbed uncontrollably, seeking comfort in his embrace.
Caelrix shot me a menacing glare.
I shook my head vigorously and clenched my jaw. “That’s completely false! Caelrix, you have to..”
“Do you honestly expect me to believe you after the way you’ve been relentlessly bothering me?” He let out a deep, menacing growl. “You must be out of your mind!” he exclaimed while gently running his fingers through Thessaly’s hair.
He softly kissed the top of her head as she continued faking her tears.
“Now, I expect an apology from you. Do as I say,” he demanded.
I shook my head as tears welled up in my eyes. “She took the lives of my parents, and you actually think I should apologize?! You know about it, Caelrix. Wow, this is not what I expected from you at all..”
“How many times do I have to remind you to apologize, Omega? Otherwise, I’ll have the beta drag you down to the dungeon,” he warned. The tears finally spilled down my face.
Thessaly released her hold on him and turned toward me, still crying. She was such a talented actress it was shocking how well she was pulling it off.
They clasped their hands together, and the sight made me feel incredibly vulnerable.
“Now. Apologize,” Caelrix commanded.
I stared at Thessaly, a small, bitter smirk tugging at my lips.
“Do it before my patience runs out…”
“I apologize…” I stumbled over the words.
“That’s not good enough. Get down on your knees,” Thessaly said. I turned to Caelrix, desperately searching for any sign of support, clinging to one last flicker of hope.
“Follow her instructions. I won’t be backing you up over Luna.”
Zoriven's POV It was more like I couldn't escape him, almost like he had me in this perfect circle. Everything narrowed down to the figure up high.Caelrix was standing at the top of the slop, his sword shining against the brightening dawn light. He must have used the chaos happening around me to cut through the trees and take me by surprise as I didn't even sense him coming.I looked up at him, coughing as I tried to get up. That was some terrifying pace, clearly guessing my move smoothly. He didn't wait for me to recover fully though, he leaped down from the top, his heavy frame descending like a falling rock, his blade coming down with him between his both hands and aimed at me.I rolled to the right just in time. His sword sliced into the ground where my head had been, burying itself inches into the rocky soil. The sheer force of his miss sprayed dirt across my face, but I didn't let the distraction blind me. I surged upward from the ground as my energy returned, driving the sho
Zoriven’s POVThe thick column of black smoke rising from the way that led to the residential part of my Pack felt like a physical spike driven straight through my lungs. The distant, booming echo of the blast was still vibrating through the soles of my boots, kicking against the chaos breaking down here.My heart didn't just race, it slammed violently against my ribs with a cold, bone freezing dread that threatened to choke out every breath in my lungs. They weren't just hitting the gates. They were right inside.Seravyn. Her name roared through my mind, a desperate chant that completely drowned out every single plan or preparation I had done up till this point.I had spent weeks preparing. I had locked her away in her room, thinking the few guards and the senior army captains would keep her safe from any breach of the border. But from every indication, from everything I had in mind, the smoke is rising from the exact point where I remember her room to be. I have been played. I ha
Seravyn's POV "Move over," she muttered, dropping to her knees beside me and shoving her long hair into a tight, practical knot at the bottom of her neck. "I'm going first. If there's an ambush at the exit, I have a better chance at reacting quickly."I smiled and pushed out, letting her go first before joining. We wriggled through the narrow, dark metal path, the iron scraping against my shoulders as we crawled in absolute silence.Lirvae must have known the way as she navigated the short, horizontal run that led towards the outside drainage pipe at the back of the building. The air inside the pipe was suffocating, thick with old dust and the growing, heavy stench of smoke from the outside world. After what felt like an eternity, Lirvae slammed her boot against the pipe cover at the end of the line. The lid popped out with a dull thud, and she slid through the opening, dropping silently into the mud below. I followed a second later, my hands landing in the cold, damp earth as I pu
Seravyn’s POVThe shockwaves from the initial blast had barely settled before the true nightmare began. Outside, the air was suddenly ripped apart by a chorus of raw, agonizing screams. The desperate shouts of women and children crying around, screams and roars of Pack warriors, and the sharp, burning touch of follow up explosions tearing through the outer buildings. The violent, choking scent of burned iron and smoke slipped through the open spaces of the window frame, filling my lungs and turning my blood to absolute ice.My mind spun out of control, a heavy mix of panic rushing through my veins as my veins plopped wildly. They are inside now, Caelrix’s men aren't just testing the borders any longer, they are tearing through the heart of the Pack. But as the screams of terrified women and children echoed from the close by paths, the fear inside me that held me down began to shift. It twisted, hardening into a sharp, cold thought.I can't just sit here. It's enough I had to sit her
Seravyn’s POVThe heavy wooden door of the guest suite didn't just close, it felt like a prison gate locking me away from the world. From the gap at the bottom of the door, I could see the shadows of two large Delta warriors moving into position on the porch, their weapons swinging at their side and their postures rigid. The craziest part? They aren't here to protect me from the Moon Stone Pack warriors, they are here to keep me from stepping a single foot past the threshold! Unbelievable.I paced the length of the room, my boots clicking against the floor, a sharp, restless energy vibrating under my skin. My hands were balled into tight fists at my sides. I can't believe Zoriven had used his authority to pin me down.He had ordered his guards to treat me like a piece of fragile cargo that needed to be locked away in a vault just for his selfish reason. It made my stomach twist with a toxic mixture as my blood boiled but my wolf pushed at the edge.He had roared at me with everyth
Zoriven's POV I jumped to my feet so fast my chair rattled against the stone floor, my instincts flaring instantly as my mind moved fast. "Get the men to the secondary lines! Tell Kaelen to authorize the silver traps!"Beside me, Seravyn stood up as well, her eyes wide, what had been a cold mask over her face shattered into instant panic. "I'm coming with you.""No, you're not," I said, turning on her, my voice rising heavily in command. I stepped into her path, blocking her way towards the door. "You are the target of this entire raid, Seravyn. Walking out to that wall is giving him exactly what he wants.""He is tearing your walls down because of me, Zoriven!" She shot back, her voice rising as she tried to push past my shoulder. "I am not going to sit in this room like a coward while your warriors die on the riverbank! Let me go! I can face him!""You can't face hundreds of heavy armor raiders!" I roared, grabbing her upper arms, my grip tight and firm as I forced her to stay put
