 Seravyn POV

“Why, Caelrix?” I whispered, hoping he would be honest with me. “You can’t just reject me without any explanation,” I added.

“I already told you the reason. Omega, you need to face reality and accept it. I can’t and won’t be with someone as weak as you,” he said. I had meant those words only for him, but he answered loud enough that everyone heard, making me feel completely humiliated in front of the whole pack.

“That’s right. We shouldn’t have a Luna like her. She should’ve just left.”

“She actually thought she had a chance. Poor girl.”

The werewolves around us started whispering harsh words. I felt like I had ruined the entire moment.

He no longer looked at me the way he used to. Everything about him felt cold now.

“No…” I muttered to myself. “Caelrix, you weren’t like this before.” I stared at him, trying to convey everything I felt, then turned and walked away from the crowd without waiting for their approval.

Tears streamed down my face as I left them behind.

I still didn’t understand why he had rejected me. It hurt so much. He wasn’t like this. Caelrix would never just call me “Omega.” He had promised to accept me for who I was, no matter my rank.

There had to be a reason.

I refused to give up like this.

There was a lot of commotion, and people seemed confused by my reaction.

I couldn’t believe it.

“I can’t accept his rejection on my special day…” I muttered.

“Seravyn, is something wrong?” one of the Omegas asked me.

“You’re causing a scene. You should have accepted his rejection gracefully instead of looking so desperate.”

“You mean nothing to him anymore. How can you still expect”

“I’d appreciate it if everyone would stop talking,” I interrupted sharply, cutting them off. They exchanged confused glances.

“Caelrix loves me… Maybe he’s doing this because—”

“He just humiliated you in front of everyone. He made his feelings clear. He’s our Alpha now, and we have to respect him. Seravyn, remember he’s not a teenager anymore. We shouldn’t expect him to keep promises he made when he was younger and less mature.”

No matter what they said to convince me, I still wanted closure. I needed to know more. I couldn’t believe them. They were just Omegas who admired Caelrix. It was easy for them to tell me to give up.

“Don’t try to stop me,” I whispered. “You don’t know what my relationship with Caelrix was like. I know him better than any of you.”

*******

The moon was shining brightly, and I wanted to talk to Caelrix. I needed closure. I stopped at the corner when I suddenly heard his footsteps along with someone else’s.

“I believe we need an alliance, Caelrix,” I heard an elder say.

“I understand,” Caelrix replied coldly.

He had changed so much. His voice sounded deeper, more masculine now.

“We only have one option: marry the daughter of another pack.” My eyes widened when I heard that.

It made my stomach twist with stress.

He was my mate. It wasn’t fair for him to marry someone else after promising to marry me!

“That’s their strongest offer, and it’s the best way to keep the pack safe. It’s a win-win, really. She would be good for you.”

“We can’t let the worst things happen again.”

I heard Caelrix chuckle. “I’ll think about it,” he said, sounding almost eager.

I closed my eyes and quickly slipped back to my room, afraid I might have been spotted.

I didn’t know what to feel, but I knew I had to talk to Caelrix.

Because nothing about this made sense…

Caelrix didn’t just change overnight. He had been gone for years, sent away after the incident that nearly tore the pack apart. No one spoke about it openly, but everyone knew something had happened during his training beyond our borders.

Something that hardened him…

Something that made the elders desperate enough to start talking about alliances and war the moment he returned.

Not right now it wasn’t the best time but I couldn’t let him marry a woman he didn’t love just for an alliance. That wasn’t like him. He was smarter than that.

******

Finally, morning came, and I thought it was the perfect time to speak with him.

I dressed quickly and left my room to find Caelrix. But I noticed people were already coming out of their rooms and gathering together. It looked like an announcement was about to be made.

I could smell Caelrix’s scent nearby.

I spotted one of the Omegas and hurried over to her. “What’s going on?” I asked.

“I’m not sure, but it has something to do with the new Alpha. We need to head back to the main gathering hall,” she replied, walking ahead.

I let out a disappointed sigh, realizing I wouldn’t get to talk to Caelrix privately.

As I entered the main gathering hall, I saw Caelrix standing there. But what shocked me even more was the familiar girl beside him.

They were holding hands.

As I got closer, my stomach dropped. It was Thessaly Van Everhart, the girl responsible for my parents’ death. The one who filled me with rage.

Anger flared up inside me.

“She is Thessaly Van Everhart, the woman I’ve chosen to be with and the one I’ll stay with forever.” Every word Caelrix spoke felt like a knife twisting in my chest, bringing fresh tears to my eyes.

“I want to announce that Thessaly, daughter of the Alpha of the Black River Pack, will be taking the role of my Luna. Our wedding will take place tomorrow.” He declared.

I felt a deep, crushing pain in my heart as I watched them share a passionate kiss in front of the cheering crowd. Meanwhile, I grew weaker with every second from the emotional agony.

Zoriven’s POVThe heavy oak door of the council inner room had soundly clicked shut behind me as I stepped out, leaving Seravyn alone. But the heat of Seravyn’s forehead resting against mine still lingered like an actual burn.I stood in the dim, narrow corridor just outside the room with my chest vibrating as I forced a long, shuddering breath through my teeth. My hands were still trembling, the dark bloody veins along my forearms pulsing. Her scent was trapped in my lungs, struggling violently with the bitter touch of my own suffocating rage. I could feel it… that underlying warmth of a wolf finally beginning to trust brewing through her as our skin touched. It was perfect, absolutely perfect. And my words?“I would rather burn this entire territory to the ground myself than let him take you back.”The words I had whispered to her weren't an exaggeration. They weren't an empty promise just aimed at making her feel better, they represented everything I had burning inside of me towar

Seravyn's POV Love can make you do the craziest of shit, could that be the answer to the question? Could that be why Zoriven has been all over me since?Could it be that he really loves me?I felt myself drifting away and quickly pulled myself back, smirking as I turned to Lirvae. “So you admit to having loved him now?”She threw a hand to her mouth and gasped. “Oh shit, what did I say?” She laughed aloud.I laughed too and she shook her head.“I guess I did, I mean, I did crazy shit for him and to see him, so yeah. I loved him a lot,” she admitted and I ran a hand over her back, letting the moment pass softly. That's when I realized I had nearly forgotten what the elders said, I guess letting myself lean into the rhythm of her words and letting the casual, safe energy wash over me really hit it."So," Lirvae shifted, leaning back on her elbows after a while, her expression turning into another wide smile. "Since we are completely ignoring reality and already talking about it, let's

  • Marked By Pain, Crowned By Power   Chapter 64

Seravyn’s POVThe heavy oak door had long since clicked shut, but the painful cho of Zoriven’s voice still vibrated against the cold stone walls of the inner room of the Great Hall. I could remember every word like he was still here saying them, how broken he sounded when he said I'm destroying him. The raw energy in his confession felt like a deep mark burned into my skin that couldn't wear off, dragging me under a relentless sea of thoughts.I remained standing, literally frozen by the edge of a wooden desk with my fingers tracing the smooth, complex grains of the wooden table. My thoughts were a chaotic, suffocating storm, all spinning around the one question that had taken root in the deepest parts of my mind. What did he really see in me that night in the woods? The question repeated in my head like a broken record on chant. I closed my eyes, forcing myself to look back out at that blurred, terrifying night through the window.I remember not being able to scent anything as the

  • Marked By Pain, Crowned By Power   Chapter 63

Seravyn's POV The silence that returned was deafening.Lirvae slowly stepped out from behind the wooden door, her vibrant face entirely drained of color as she looked between her brother and me. Zoriven didn't say a word to her. He didn't even look at his Beta, Kaelen, who was still standing by the entrance."Leave us," Zoriven ordered, his voice cold, flat, and lacked any form of emotion.Lirvae looked like she wanted to protest, her eyes went wide while her hands shook by her side. Her brows kept twitching while her expression dropped flat when they landed on me.Kaelon walked over beyond us, and as Lirvae tried reaching out towards me, Kaelen gently caught her elbow, shaking his head. Together, they quietly exited the hall through the side door, leaving the two of us completely isolated in the vast, echoing space.Zoriven turned around slowly. The golden fire in his eyes had faded away, replaced by a dark, burning storm that made my heart race in panic. He didn't wait for me to

  • Marked By Pain, Crowned By Power   Chapter 62

Seravyn’s POVThe heavy silence that followed my words was suffocating, a thick, stagnant fog that trapped the air inside my lungs. Down below, the seven elders stood like stone monuments, the look of relief across each of their faces nearly rung out in my ears. But it was Zoriven’s reaction that made the ground feel as though it were tilting beneath my feet.He didn't yell. He didn't roar. He simply went entirely still, his towering frame locking into a rigid, agonizing posture as he stared up at me. The golden fire in his eyes flickered, shattering into a raw, bleeding look that screamed nothing but pain. It was the expression of a warrior who had been stabbed in the back by the very person he had sworn to shield with his life."Take that back," Zoriven whispered. The volume of his voice had dropped entirely, yet, the sheer force of the words cut through the large empty spaces of the hall. He took a slow, heavy step towards the stairs I was on. "Seravyn. Take back those words im

  • Marked By Pain, Crowned By Power   Chapter 61

Seravyn's POVBefore Lirvae could grab me, I lunged towards the door."Seravyn, please! If Zoriven catches you, he’ll lose his mind!" She called out, her boots clicking against the floor as she followed me out into the crisp morning air.I didn't answer. I kept my pace fast, keeping to the shadows of the stone walkways and the long, sweeping rows of climbing roses that gave the Sun Flower Packhouse its name. The morning sun was higher now, but the air felt entirely different from the warmth it should have.I could see the massive, stone-carved structure of the Great Hall looming ahead. Its double iron doors laid open as no one hung around the doors. Whatever this is must be serious.I paused for a second, looking around. There has to be a way, a way to get in without getting noticed.I looked around, finding a path that looked to lead towards the building. I rushed towards it at once, ignoring Lirvae’s hushed, frantic curses behind me. It was more like a side corridor, a narrow one,
