Rose’s Pov

The training ground was bubbling that morning. The head warrior paired us in twos to practice sparring with each other. Grunts and thuds flew everywhere. Fists were flying, feet striking. As bodies moved in very fast motion, dust kicked up from the ground. That was the same energy I always loved about training. It was the intensity, the challenge, the noise. But something about today felt different, but I couldn’t quite place it yet.

Henry and I were paired up by the head warrior. He stood tall, a little distant from me, his stance was steady and his expression focused.

“Focus, Rose,” Henry quickly reminded me with a little smile while we circled each other.

I gave him a small nod. He was right. My mind was already drifting. I couldn’t stop thinking about Aiden.

Normally, he would have been here, correcting us while we trained, giving us orders, his presence alone was commanding the air. But today, he was nowhere to be seen. He probably had some work up his sleeves. Still,
